bhvr tried A LOT harder in the past before the rift was a thing to give us a good event. currently it just feels like a reskin of hooks, gens, and they even reused the plant model from Halloween 2 years ago without an updated animation. we also got better rewards in the past and its obvious that the daily shards are a way to keep their player count up when they could have just given us a event worth playing to do that.
seriously any veteran player can tell that not much was put into this event like literally nothing new was introduced besides a few reskins and there are even less rewards for playing this event like at least we got 2 full blight sets from the rift last year but this one we can only get 4 cosmetics with the shards from dailys and while thats nice you still can only get 2 full killer sets If you spend the extra shards and all previous skins are locked with cells. In the past we could use the Halloween currency to get ANY Halloween skin but now they are locked with cash.
to me and a lot of others this is just them being the most greedy they have ever been. however probs to the designers for making the game and skins look good but screw the people who made the decision to not do a Halloween currency or anything special for the event, even the rift is bland with few actually good skins.

As much as I support BHVR and love their game I'm not letting this event fly. While BHVR may have been kind to give us nice stuff in the past, recent actions have lost my respect for them. They need to do better.

They have done things (such as: the update on the discounted price on already sold skins) that are worth complaining about. This other crap about the BP/Shards/Rift is unnecessarily complained about.

Letting people earn different things like skins during an event is not being generous it's an expected standard.

And that's kinda the problem.
It's not engaging.I'm pretty sure that a lot of people,including me,loved the idea to earn your cosmetics by completing specific objectives.It felt more rewarding.
This however feels less like them being generous but rather like damage control/a poor apology for an extremely disappointing """event""".

compared to the past its the worst ever except for the ones that were literally just reskins but at least they provided a exclusive reward before they were given out for free meaning there was a reason for dedicated players to play.
in terms of how much we will get which is 10k shards ignoring the super useless amount of BP its nothing compared to 3 or 6 Halloween currency which gave us ANY Halloween skin for a total of 21600 to 43200 shards in terms of value.
the main problem I have with this event is i wanted to grind for past skins and im sure many others did as well but they locked them with cash. Even the reduced prices is them convincing players to still pay 10$ and then get an extra skin with it. its just greedy.
edit: also another problem is there is nothing to earn IT MAKES THE GAME BORING. events are supposed to do the opposite.

I will explain to you why people are unhappy the first halloween event 2 free skin. Last halloween event 1 free skin they receive some backslash so they had a little something. Now come today we got a rift and the event is cosmetic you need to buy with money unless you already have an insane amount of shard. Then with all the backslash they receive they lower the price and had free BP and shard but all the people. But all the people who already bought the skin get a huge ######### you in the face because they wont get refund the excess amount they paid for. All that while the game is still buggy specially for the ps4 user. For me personally im not surprise with that event we could see that coming with the previous one but the thing i hate the most is survivor can keep the addon after the event but killer cant so this is an issue in my opinion and show that the dev are biase toward the survivor with that kind of thing.

But you can technically get a free skin with the shards they give you. Thats why I don’t understand the anger and frustration. For the people who bought the skins previously and want a refund I can, but for the people who are getting FREE SHARDS to buy a skin, what is there to complain about? Only valid reason I’ve seen so far is that the effort to get the skins are lackluster, which is the only legit reason I’ve seen here. The rest of these people are just throwing insults at me for having an opinion. Its quite hilarious.

The reason I am disappointed is because of the recent scam they did to especially their most loyal players.
Usually I really don't mind to spend 10$ for a cosmetic set, since I know this keeps the game alive. I had about 11k shards saved and I really wanted that Blighted Legion skin, which was 21k at that time. So I just went ahead, bought one piece for 7k shards and the other two pieces with auric cells before I went to bed. And literally 10 hours later the price was set to 9k shards without any warning. Which meant I just spent 7,5$ for NOTHING.
Yes, I am aware that they could change prices any time and that they advertised a sale. However, the sale was advertised for the older blighted cosmetics, not for the new ones. And as far I can remember, skins that just got released never ever were on sale just a few days after release. So there was no way of guessing that this could happen.
Yeah, they give us 10k shards for free. But this only makes up that I spent 7k shards on one piece than 3k shards and my 7.5$ auric cells are still gone. For people who spent 21k shards on one set, this doesn't even make up the difference of 12k shards they lost. People who bought the Felix skin for 10$ got totally screwed over. So this "excuse" is literally a joke imo.
They should have refund people who bought the cosmetics before and then make them cheaper. I wouldn't have cared then. But this is just not ok and a hard slap in the face for people who are willing to buy new skins for real money.

Hey Unicorn! I'm delighted for you that youre so happy about the free skin! And I think th entire community would be happy with that! The problem is they never planned to give us anything. They only gave us shards for skins when they realised that the community was upset because they didnt do anything. This is Halloween. Its supposed to be the biggest time of the year for this game! We're supposed to have in game events that are fun and different! New lobby's and lobby music to set the mood! Special offerings that reward us for playing! And spooky challenges for us to strive for something! This is typically a cosmetic or two but thats not the issue. We expected a Halloween event - like we've gotten previously. Yes, in the past some events were flawed but at least they tried. They didnt even try this year. They released a bunch of skins and asked us to pay for them. That was the event we got given. The backlash made them realise they messed up.

I can understand your reasoning. I really do hope they refund you guys back, thats super inconvenient considering they mentioned the discounts but didn’t mention the recent hallowed outfits being discounted in the banner/ad. I’m hopeful they will give you guys shards back at least with all the backlash they’re getting.

Its just when you compare this event to the one we had before this one is hot garbage and when you compare this event to the one other game have its get worse. Its this game is in the horror genre so the halloween event should be a big deal but we have nothing or close to nothing. It took a lot of backslash from the community for the dev to implement the free shard i think its a way to say calme down, there something for you now shut up its better that then nothing and be happy we did something so stop complaining about our ######### event and be happy we did something any that the way i see this and people who insult you are just stupid and cant have a proper argument

Yes, I can see where most people are coming from about the event being just bland. This is a horror game for christ-sake we should have a REAL halloween spooky event. However, I don’t think any of the previous events were real Halloween spookfests. Considering the past, I wasn’t expecting very much of this one either so thats probably why I’m not so disappointed. I am grateful for the currency & the generosity though, I’d be lying if I said otherwise. I understand they changed it up after the backlash, which makes it seem disingenuous and for their own reputation purposes I just wanted people to see the brightside, but apparently there is no brightside. Lol.

Thank you for having a real and decent discussion with me about this. Unfortunately this is the DBD Forums so insults are a expected. I just laugh it off and hold my own. But yes, I agree. Dead By Daylight should be the God-Tier of Halloween Events. We have Mikey! They can do so much with all the licensed characters being a thing, but eh. Maybe one day they’ll actually put effort into making a real event. I’ve also been considering the Pandemic having a little bit to do with the poor preparations and planning of the event. Theres a lot going on in the world.

Also I'm pretty sure the reason why the new skins weren't advertised to be on sale, is because this was never planned. I think they did the discount on shards for the new cosmetics spontaneous to the negative backlash from the community regarding the halloween "event".
Even though I think it is good that they showed a reaction at all, I think this decision was a wrong and did sent the wrong signals.
The better and even simpler way would have been to leave the shard prices on the cosmetics as they were and instead increase the amount of the daily log in bonus in shards. No one would have made a loss with that and no one would have been disappointed or felt scammed.

For the liscence killer i think they need the ok from the compagnie for the cosmetic but im not sure. Anyway the biggest event for dbd is the lunar event for some reason i think i know why but im tired of getting ban so i will keep it for myself.

Sure alright. Why are you sucking off BHVR when they literally can't even fix their own game? We STILL don't have any options for adjusting the graphics outside of a bannable .ini config, Consoles are so far in the single digit frames it's become a powerpoint slide show. They were promised fixes for YEARS and it just continues to get worse while they slap in more over priced cosmetics and half assed content and call it a day. Oh but let's not forget the GRAPHICAL UPDATE!!! YAY SO GOOD YAY no. The game runs like ass for a lot of people as it is, but let's make it even more demanding. It's also been proven the people in charge of the game don't have the slightest clue about what the community actually wants or they do but actively ignore it because "PRETTY GOOD JOB SO FAR!" But sure, continue to be oh so happy with the scraps they gave you out of the kindness of their heart while they continue to laugh at all the gullible people eating their slop.

But I do agree, I can definitely see how it looks to someone who actually spent shards before the change. I just don’t agree with the ppl who say they planned on doing this to everyone who paid. I don’t find that logical or reasonable. But I really do hope they do something for them.

Okay, you’re going way off topic.
This thread is about people who are complaining about not getting enough free currency, and having to wait to get a free skin. The people who spent 21k on the skins before the discount are the only people who should be complaining. The event is not great, I get that, we need a real Halloween event. I just never understood who complains and whines about getting currency to buy a skin you can pay real money for or have to grind for a while to get the shards for. I’m grateful that they even had the consideration to do it, planned or not.
I play Overwatch, they wouldn’t dare hand out currency for the current Halloween event. You gamble with loot boxes and HOPE you get a new skin and not a basic or a duplicate. If me looking from the outside in based off of other companies motives when they have an event and appreciating BHVR’s generosity makes me insult/attack worthy, then thats fine. I still feel the way I feel.
If you want to discuss performance issues, start up a thread and I’ll happily come and add my opinion/view into the mix. Otherwise, this is not the place to speak of such things. I want to stay on topic here.
Also, if BHVR is so bad, stop supporting them. Pretty sure you’re still playing, you’re still here on their forums, yet they’re such a bad company and you can’t stand them. Make it make sense.

The "generosity" you're experiencing is BHVR desperately trying to get some heat off their backs. It wasn't planned to have login rewards, or decreasing the prices of skins. If that was planned, it'd been like that from the start AND the older Halloween skins would have been available for Iridescent Shards too.

Yes, I’ve heard. I understand it wouldn’t have happened at all without the backlash, but I am, and will still be grateful they did anything in the first place. Play Call of Duty or Overwatch and complain about a sh*tty event in their forums, see if Treyarch or Blizzard give a hoot to make up for it with free in-game currency.
They don’t. But aye, thats just my “boot-lickin” opinion.

I'd say the thing that annoys people is that the devs pretend to be open with everything (that's they can) but actually aren't.
We of course understand them not being able to talk about chapters. However stuff like why there's no event currency they ignore.

Last year we didnt need the plants to get the serum. Also why is Felix only buyable by auric cells?

Regarding the daily login rewards, I've only received the first one on the 24th and I've been logging in regularly since then but nothing else has happened. Is this normal?
