There needs to be a better solution to combat disconnecting

I’m not sure if it’s the same on PC right now, but the last 5 games I’ve played on PS4 have been against AFK killers who can’t disconnect to derank anymore. It’s extremely frustrating playing boring matches and not being allowed to disconnect myself without receiving a penalty.

Likewise, people are taking advantage of the fact there’s a DC penalty and are abusing the game to the point it’s legitimately unplayable (see video).

I agree that something should be done to counteract people who DC too much or purposefully do it to derank (Devs mentioned a system in the past that examined DC percentages and punished players accordingly), but applying a blanket DC penalty that punishes every player is unnecessary.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and/or suggestions on what the devs could actually do.

Had an Ace trying to hold me hostage like that yesterday. Billy hooked Claudette, BBq’d then sprinted over and sawed him in half.

    Then Ace DC’d

Still not sure which was more immature, him blocking me in or DCing when he looked like a complete fool as Billy rescued me and his little scheme backfired.

    Bots.

It's genuinely that simple. Replace disconnected players with bots, and the match will still go on as normal. Granted, no bot will ever out-perform a player with several thousand hours, but I'd rather a less-competent teammate to keep the killer busy (for at least a little bit) than no teammate at all. And I don't think anyone would complain about a bot as killer - it'd be an easy match.

By all means, punish players for repeated disconnections, but don't punish players who genuinely lose connection or crash. And yes, their system can tell the difference between someone pressing "leave match" and someone losing connection. A sound plays for the former, but not the latter.
