Dungeon mode?
So I've been playing the game since 2016 and let me just say that I love dead by daylight. However, I think it needs a new mode, a new way to play the game to shake up the formula and ive had this idea id like to just put out there.
Imagine if you could play with 8 survivors and 2 killers, and wouldn't have to do a single gen to escape. Doing gens is not exactly thrilling, but imagine if it was your task to find your way through 6 or 9 interconnected maps to find an exit instead with two killers out there somewhere. I was thinking we turn off the terror radius for the killers to make them scarier, open a random hatch on one of the maps which changes location every time a survivor finds it, and tada! Easily done, new way of playing the game that breathes in some new life. Thoughts?

I like your idea but I’m not necessarily sure if it would make for fun gameplay. Based on the way you described it, it would be a hide and seek type of mode? That seems interesting but the issue is that survivors would probably just all play claudette with dark clothing and hide to the point where games could be 30+ mins. I would probably try this out a few times and then immediately go back to normal old dbd. If your intentions behind this idea is different to hide and seek then I’d appreciate it if you clarified what you want this mode to be about. I for one have thought up a similar idea somewhat, except there would be 4 killers, 8+ survivors and the mode would be all about incentivising chases. I didn’t think about the idea of having multiple interconnected maps though. I really like that idea as it’s pretty unique.

Wait just make it that the killers have keys that will drop (one at a time) if they are stunned a certain number of times. It will allow one survivor to escape through the many hatches around and can be stolen by the killers, killer must down to get the key and hook the survivor to get sacrifice points. The survivors objective is get into a chase and get a key, help other survivors get keys, locate hatches, and escape without dying. The survivors get more points if more people escape and the killers gets more points for sacrifices. To prevent mass exodus, make that one hatch for one survivor or a specific key goes to a specific hatch (it’s will be shown when nearby it). Killers can be provided portals and various traps outside their original power that can slow down survivors, force them to lose their keys, or force them out so that they cannot save or help others. Plus to prevent people from hoarding keys, the aura of dropped keys are shown to the killer to pick up and a survivor can only hold one key. Survivors can also do the same stuff and regular matches: heal, unhook, cleanse, unlock chests, interact with killer belongings, and “loop”. This likely too much though.

The idea(s) have been brought up before, and were usually bashed down because while they lament about how the game's objectives are so boring, people are also unwilling to try anything new, usually citing that the devs would mess it up anyway.
It's mostly cause people are dead-set on the idea that chases and looping are the most fun, and will claim any mode that goes in any way against that is doomed or 'doesn't fit the genre'.
Your ideas are good, but this community is ridiculous about this kinda stuff. (guess they are mortally scared of not being able to bash the devs further should things go right)

If implemented well I could actually see that as being a pretty solid mode. It might need some ironing out to make it as balanced as possible but otherwise that could be amazing. You guys are much better at thinking up new modes then i am, lol.
Maybe so but I'm of the opinion that this game really needs a solid new game mode to keep things fresh. Survivor is so boring in my opinion simply because their main objective doesn't really enable interaction with the Killer. Defending gens as killer is boring too, I just wanna chase and hook people, man.
While I understand that some people enjoy being immersed that doesn't exactly make for fun gameplay, for either side. The killer gets robbed of the chance to chase and the survivor didn't take chase so they're just gonna do more gens, fun. Plus there's no real explanation in the lore as to why all of these people are just able to fix gens without any prior experience (If I'm not mistaken its stated in the lore that the survivor's memory of each trial is wiped, regardless of if they survived or were sacrificed) but that's more of just a minor nitpick lol.

Love the idea of pallet bashing the keys out of killers. That would be an ingenious way of making it so you cant just hide. I do think there are a lot of detection perks that would make it hard to purely blend your way through. I think killers like the doctor and ghost face would be hard to hide from forever since their powers can easily reveal a blending survivor.
