Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

A Tweak that would improve SWF experience on both sides.

So, this is a situation where the game is probably limited by its tech, engine, and ability to update it, but I've stumbled upon what I think is an ingenious solution to killers playing against SWF and have it feel like not a slog or a blowout.

Have it so that anyone who's playing SWF can hear each other out only as far as 32M, and then cut the audio. Have it be location-based so that the killer never hears the survivors, but the survivors only hear each other within range.

This provides a boost that allows killers to feel like they have a fighting chance. It lends additional utility to some previously dubiously useful offerings (in particular, the "all survivors start separated" offering would be quite useful at higher ranks) and still gives SWF players an edge from playing cooperatively.

It would also provide some tension as you must balance the bonus of being able to hear each other by sticking together versus the risk of both getting caught by the killer together via proximity.

Now, this isn't a perfect solution- as stated previously, this is probably untenable given the engine limitations and their ability/inclination to implement this solution. But this would balance the game without sacrificing the boost that voice comms offers you.

... People would still use discord? Especially with the killer never hears the survivors

Killers have a chance vs swf, it's just most of red ranks killers are boosted or lowkey trash and can't win without tunneling, no ed or facecamping

There's always going to be edge cases of course. This workaround, Steam voice chat...

But the fact that SWF is in constant 24/7 contact with no penalty is such a stick in the eye it needs SOMETHING to redress the balance. I made this suggestion as a sincere hope for a fix without favoring the killer too much and still retaining the utility for the survivors.

Also, I appreciate you engaging the suggestion sincerely vs. Mr. "lol all red rank killers r trash" right below there.

they would use discord and mute DBD so whats the point exactly?

Well, there's a certain percentage that wouldn't bother with Discord if it was a default feature in the game, even if Discord is strictly speaking better. And it would only be muted if Behavior gave the option to mute it. If they made it a default setting, then getting double talk would compel people who would use Discord to use the game version.

And some part of me hoped that survivors would want the game to be more fun instead of pure min-max rub-it-in-your-face assholery. I wish everyone wanted to play that way, to be honest. It's probably the naive "games bring people together for fun experiences" philosophy that I've felt erode in me a bit by playing this game. I love the game, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I lament what this game has eaten away in me.
