Why doesnt PH cages not reset your exhaustion?
Just got hardcore tunneled by a PH on hawkings.
I get that his torment and cages are designed to avoid the meta perks like DS, BT, breakout, sabo ect but can they at least reset your exhaustion?
I got found first, used my dead hard, ran over his trail he sent me to a cage, i got rescued almost immediately cause they make the cages spawn next to your team mates. PH is right around the corner obviously he goes for me knowing i have no DS or BT and fun fact im still exhausted from my last chase.
That's kinda jank. Not only do they take away the only true anti tunneling perk BT but they also take away my DS or the ability for my team mates to make any kind of play to try and help and i dont even have my exhaustion perk back.
I know they just hit PH with a nerf but that tunnel ability is still alive and thriving.
Rant over lol

cause they make the cages spawn next to your team mates
Small correction: cages spawn as far away from PH as possible. Your teammates are not taken into account. What happens is that your teammates are usually going to be far away from the killer regardless, so you spawn near them, but that's a coincidence.
Anyway, cages are not hooks, so this is normal. If cages were to act as hooks, you'd also have BBQ and other killer perks being activated by them, which you do not want.

I would gladly let killer perks work for cages if survivor perks worked for them. DS in my hands can make or break my escape.

Agreed, since the cage would still counter DS, and BT would hardly if ever trigger on getting out of cage, unless on a very tiny map.
This would be a huge buff to Pyramid head and an overall nerf to survivor's interaction with cage
Imagine getting "make your choice" on cage saving xD

I’m confused...
are you claiming that cages of atonement pause your exhaustion timer?

No they're saying cages don't remove exhaustion when rescued like with a hook
1 -
What do you mean “like with a hook”?!
Exhaustion doesn’t just magically go away once someone is hooked. It just recovers as per normal because they’re not running.
It’s entirely possible to be rescued from a hook before your exhaustion has recovered. Slim, but possible.

It's not, though. Exhaustion is immediately removed upon being hooked. It's been that way for a while.
2 -
Sounds like a bug.
Ive been on the hook and still watched my exhaustion timer tick down.

The bug is what you experienced. The way it's supposed to work is: you get hooked, Exhaustion goes away.

This makes no sense to me.
Nowhere in the in game tutorials, or perk descriptions does it say that hooking resets exhaustion.
No other timed status effects are reset upon being hooked.

Yeah, it didn't make sense to anyone when it came out, but that's the way it works.

C’mon brutha, not like there’s a valid history of explanations on how things work the last 4 1/2 years. 😋
We gotta learn & figure it out on our own! And we wonder why attracting new people is such a challenge...

Still though:
- Exposed
- Blindness
- Mangled
- Haemorrhage
- Oblivious
- Broken
Do not reset on the hook. Why exhaustion?

I can speculate, because I don’t know the REAL answer. But it more than likely is: keep the survivor base happy!
I mean, a killer doesn’t get free Bloodlust for losing a survivor in a chase, is what it is, marketing 101...make the majority happy so we can still play the game and afford new content. Hard to complain about it.

Because you being suspended on THAT piece of metal and being slowly killed isn't the same as being suspended on THIS piece of metal and being slowly killed.
wait...

It was a balance change that happened years ago. I remember reading the patch notes about it when it came out, though it was so long ago I'm not sure what version of the game it was..

The cages system is one of the most broken things in this game.
I play PH and it seems rather odd that they stopped allowing him to see the aura of cages, but now they get a notification when someone saves off the cage. Like to me, this is unreasonable because it just further encourages a tunnel without the survivor being able to do much.
I still don’t understand why this hasn’t been changed.

This I agree with. Removing the cage auras was a good start, but there shouldn’t be a notification when a rescue occurs either.
Pyramid Head isn’t meant to be using cages to take advantage of who was just in one, he’s meant to use cages to save time and focus on somebody else.

Also, cage removal's do not give WGLF tokens. Pretty lame.

Because the only similarity cages of to hooks mechanically is taking a hook state. In every other way they are not hooks and therefore do not proc anything relating to hooks. That means DS, BT, BBQ, WGLF, Blood Warden, Dead Man's Switch, Dying Light, MYC, Pop, Camaraderie, Deliverance, Off the Record, and We'll Make It. NONE of these activate from cages.

Here's what cages need to become more balanced:
- Removing the aura of cages was important, but the explosion notification of a rescue also needs to go (if it's going to avoid Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike, not immediately recover exhaustion, etc.)
- Allegedly the cage moves if Pyramid Head gets too close to it. In my experience, this closeness is basically facecamping the cage. I've been rescued from cages when he was meters away and it didn't relocate me! The killer proximity to relocate cages needed to be expanded to 32 meters, and also reset that cage state timer.
Not necessarily a balance issue, but as mentioned above, a safe cage rescue should also result in a WGLF stack. Getting four of those is brutal enough; don't make it any worse just because someone is playing Pyramid Head.
