Exactly how efficient is the reporting system?

this is just a question towards those who've used it before! i, unfortunately, encountered a second game that involved people insta-popping gens at the start of the match, but i wasn't able to record the in-game footage or take a screenshot because it all happened so fast, so i can't provide any visual evidence, and i'm not sure exactly how else to report something like this aside from sending in a support ticket with steam profiles.

i'm not quite sure what to do here, and it's honestly a little frustrating with some of these modders running around. x')

No idea. I reported a killer for holding the game hostage and provided video evidence, but I have no idea if that ever went anywhere.

i mean, the legacy skin mods make sense to be easily bannable. all skins that are earned legitimately, as far as i'm concerned, aren't client-side. they're linked to an inventory database. so it's easy to see whether or not if someone truly earned it, or if it's something that was modded in through exploits or changing codes.

as for everything else, ouch.. that's a bit unfortunate. i wish there was a more efficient way for the devs to be able to handle these sorts of things. a built-in replay system that saves all match data to a cloud would be wonderful for being able to catch in-game cheaters. x_x

Gonna be fully honest I think they don't look at it most of the time. I'd say hackers they might and maybe bugs but not farming or stuff like that.

The fact they don't tell you if the user broke the rules or not means they can pretend they took action when they did nothing.

    double-post, apologies!

but i see what you mean. i have indeed reported someone before for something similar a long time ago, but it's difficult to tell whether or not that reports actually are handled because there's no communication after the fact. x(

It isn't. There's no point to reporting, even though I find myself doing it almost every other game.

I've seen people who were blatantly cheating months before still playing after multiple people reported and gave evidence. Same goes for racist/homophobic abuse/harrassment. Unless it's a fog whisperer or big streamer that calls attention to it, I have no reason to believe reports actually do anything.

Yeah, any time they have a policy where they don't have to tell you what action they're taking, if any, is a surefire way to tell that they're probably slacking.

Reports don't do anything if you don't come on the forums and send video evidence to support, and even then, to be fair, I truly doubt anything happens.

Bans of any kind are not disclosed. They certainly do something. Bans are issued by the dedicated ACM team. There are many reports daily, a report might not be done right away, but they certainly see them and do something about them if it's not a false report. Sometimes people don't report in the game, which is mandatory and this also hinders a report.

Also I want to note: Temporary bans are not visible on anyone's profile.

Additional evidence can always be sent to support. More can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules

(I misread, but point still stands, sorry Marigoria!) Postings things here on the forums won't do anything. It won't quicken the process - if at all someone might earn a warning for naming and shaming which is against the rules. We can't speed up the process - everyone has to go through the same process of reporting people in the game.

I didn't say post in the forums, I mentioned using the support page aka email.

Reports don't do anything. No matter if it's about reporting bug or a player.

Woops - misread, sorry, but point still stands as a reminder for people then!
