Little Theory about James Sunderland and Silent Hill
So, I am one of those people that believes, within how Silent Hill operates, Pyramid Head probably wouldn't be in the Entity's Realm, especially without James. Pyramid Head is James' id, blah blah blah, whatever, that's not what this is about. Now, I am by no means an expert on Silent Hill lore, and I know the actual probable reason James wasn't the survivor is because they wanted something from each of the first three games.
But here's a little lore theory on why James' isn't in the game. Spoilers for Silent Hill 2 here on out. I would put the Spoiler tag, but simply but, I have no idea how to. Am big dumb.
James isn't a very good person. All of Silent Hill 2 is basically him coming to terms with the things he's done, and what kind of person he is. All of the Survivor's within the Entity's realm, at least on surface level, seem to be good people. Meg takes care of her sick mother, Jane puts on a brave face for her viewers, Claudette just wants to be a simple botanist. James goes against that. He's a murderer, he has very skewed thoughts on women. Maybe the Entity only takes at least somewhat decent people, or maybe James just doesn't have hope anymore, which the Entity needs to survive. Most of the endings for SH2 leave James dead, or in despair. The Entity can't use him to feed. Besides, he's already in the game ifyaknowwhatImean. Idk, just a thought.

Pyramid Head comes form the guilt of James and only James can see him, it's possible that the Entity probe Jame's mind and memories during the events of Silent Hill 2 and saw Pyramid Head, then using his memories, the Entity manifested Pyramid Head into its realm, and because the Entity can see Pyramid Head, so can everyone else because they're inside the Entity's realm.
the Entity can put Pyramid Head into its realm without adducting James. so yeah, no, James isn't in the Entity Realm.

Guess I'll also give some spoilers for the Silent Hill Series as well.

There is a common misconception about the monsters of Silent Hill. Yes...they come from a specific person's mind and wouldn't exist without that person....initially. However...once they are created...they are real. Silent Hill just prevents others within its reach from seeing each other's monsters. It doesn't do this perfectly, however. In the first Silent Hill, you play as Harry Mason. The monsters you see in the town aren't his nightmares but Alessa's. In Silent Hill 2, whenever James encounters another character all of his monsters and reality stop spawning and is replaced by that character's. What I mean by reality is how that person is viewing Silent Hill, it is rarely ever the same. It is just that their inner turmoil is far greater than what James is going through so theirs kind of overpower his. This is proven by the fact that no one ever sees his monsters or that "Red Pyramid Thing." However, James DOES see their versions of Silent Hill and their monsters. The biggest proof of this is Angela (My favorite character btw.) There are moments in the hotel that James sees Silent Hill as Angela sees it (The Fire in the stair case, for example.) James also see, and fights, one of Angela's monsters. The "Abstract Daddy." Both that Monster and the room they are in at the time are part of Angela's torment...not James'.
But to get back to Pyramid Head, Pyramid Head (the red one James sees) is just another monster created by Silent Hill with one task, punish James. It is also important to note that there is more than one Red Pyramid Head and we don't know which one The Entity took, but I am willing to bet it was not one of the two during the last fight with them. (I could very well be wrong here, but I do think that each encounter with Pyramid Head is a different Monster created in that area.) What got me thinking there is more than one Pyramid Head that James sees is not just the fight with 2 of them....but that Silent Hill created multiple copies of Maria...who is also a monster that Silent Hill created with a specific task revolving around James. In one of the endings James actually leaves the town with Maria as well. (What is not shown is that without the binding force of Silent Hill's power...Maria would revert back into the monster she was created from. This happened to Lisa in Silent Hill 1.)
Another thing to note is that the powers that control Silent Hill are not tied to just the town itself. It is capable of manifesting around those who have a deep/strong connection to it. Like....say.....CHERYL. There is no character in the series that has a stronger connection to Silent Hill than Cheryl. In Silent Hill 3, the game doesn't start in Silent Hill yet its influence is clearly there in full force. In Silent Hill 4, it is the same thing. The game does not take place in the town itself yet, its influence is clearly there. The thing is, Henry is NOT the one Silent Hill is manifesting around. yet is still affected by it. Silent Hill can manifest and maintain monsters outside of Silent Hill as long as there is someone there that it has a connection to. This includes the Monster that is the "Red Pyramid Thing," as James calls it.
The only thing I can't figure out, lore wise....is why would Silent Hill allow The Entity to take Cheryl considering who she is to the powers that be. Unless...Silent Hill is just using her as a potential doorway into The Entity's realms? I'm just guessing with that one. There is so much Lore around Silent Hill that you cannot find unless you dive deep into it and REALLY search for it. What you see on the surface is not the whole story. There is a lot more hidden that you have to actually find and piece together yourself. One of the reasons I love Silent Hill.

I would love to think that the Entity has more power of Silent Hill and after learning about Cheryl and her being able to survive the horrors of the town, it made her a perfect target for the Entity. the very same reason it took Bill, Ash and Laurie, they're survivors.
as for which Pyramid Head the Entity taken, I would assume the one with the big sword.

(Spoilers for those who haven't played SH3)
I'm wondering whether Silent Hill actually has a need for her any more. Cheryl pukes up God, who is then swallowed by Claudia, which ultimately results in the abominable birth of a deformed and weakened God. When Cheryl beats God, she walks away, only to turn to look back, looking startled.
According to the makers of the game, she turns upon hearing the cry of a baby. So, I'm wondering if she's not only gotten rid of the God from her, but it now resides within Silent Hill as a baby. Cheryl purged whatever magic was in her out, using that aglaophotis (sorry, can't spell it). She's probably less use now.
When Cheryl's abducted, she first hears the voice of Claudia on the phone before the Entity takes her. That could either a) be a taunt from the Entity, or b) a final mocking taunt from Silent Hill, punishing her for what she did by waving bye-bye as she's banished into this other realm.
One thing I am intrigued by is if she is empty of power, when she goes into the realm she regains some to temporarily manipulate the Entity to protect gens for her. I wonder if this was injected by the parts of Silent Hill to infiltrate this new realm; perhaps sending feelers out to investigate itself. The chains on the school map feel like the Entity trying to hold this power within, like the chains on the door from Room 302. The Entity is strong, but currently it's not strong enough to control Silent Hill's power. Not yet, anyway.

More Silent Hill spoilers I guess.

It is important to note that Silent Hill 3 isn't the first time she "birthed a god." It happened in Silent Hill 1 at the end....or at least she almost did. The "God" emerged from her in 2 of the games endings and completely took over. It was killed by Harry Mason, who then received Cheryl (Heather) from Alessa. The Cheryl we have now is still partly Alessa. And Alessa was BORN with her powers. She did not receive them from Silent Hill or the "God" or whatever else. They are hers and hers alone. The aglophotis would have no effect on her powers. Her powers might be weak due to not being completely Alessa...but she'd still have them. I am just unsure if Cheryl ever truly accepted that side of her.
The god "born" in Silent Hill 3 was a failure since "The Mother of God" did not birth it. Silent Hill will always protect the Mother of God....but it doesn't necessarily need her alive. So....Maybe Silent Hill is aware of what The Entity is doing and is actually using the situation to its advantage. Possibly waiting for Cheryl to want to use the power of Silent Hill to escape The Entity. Not sure on that, it just came to my mind and I need to think it over more.

I'm just saying this,
I don't think Silent Hill is in the Entity Realm or have a long term plan to trick the Entity using Cheryl as the key, if you're suggesting that.
I think after looking over the memories of those who been in Silent Hill, it then attempt to make a replica of Silent Hill rather than taking the whole thing, so while the realm of Silent Hill appears as it is and have similar powers of the place, it's not exactly Silent Hill, just ones based on memories.
after it abducted Pyramid Head, Cheryl, Lisa and Cybil, it then left the Silent Hill universe to search for another universe, meaning that they are far away from Silent Hill for it to try and do anything against the Entity.
like I said, the Entity is a very powerful being, and capable of overpowering even the most powerful dark things in the different universes, including the mysterious effects and powers of Silent Hill.
