Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Tome V - Unleashed Challenges

Introduction

I'll begin with a rudimentary analysis of the Tomes.

Survivor challenges are more varied because the number of possible interactions is much higher. (Within Terror Radius, Escape Chase, Escape, Unhook, Stun, Cleanse, Repair, Protection Hit, Heal, Deplete Items, Drop Pallets, Cooperative Actions, Fall, Open Chests, etc.)

Killer challenges are less varied because the number of possible interactions is lower. (Chase, Hit, Down, Hook, Kill, Damage Gen, Power Usage, etc.)

Glaring Issue(s)

Since the variation of challenges is so extreme, many Survivor challenges seem to promote avoiding natural gameplay. Most Killer challenges promote natural gameplay.

Each time a new Tome is released, there seems to be a few questionable challenges included. Many of these challenges simply suffer from the same condition. That shared condition is: Complete this challenge in a single Trial. While that condition is not the only thing that can make a challenge "too difficult", it does seem to be the most frequent offender.

I realize I might be asking too much for that condition to be removed completely, so I'm asking you to address certain challenges individually.

Challenges that may be too difficult

Here's a list of questionable Challenges from Tome V - Unleashed (Level 1 & Level 2):

  • Risky Repairs - Finish Repairing 2 Generator(s) while in the Killer's Terror Radius. Must be in the Terror Radius when the generator is completed. Complete this challenge in a single Trial.
  • Fight Back - Drop a pallet to stun the Killer 3 time(s). Complete this challenge in a single Trial.
  • Safe Landing - Fall from a great height while being chased 3 time(s) while using the perk Balanced Landing. Complete this challenge in a single Trial.

I hope you'll take my feedback into consideration. I will attempt to keep this post up to date as Level 3 and Level 4 are released.

    Risky repairs is fine.

But Fight Back and Safe Landing are really difficult. I remember struggling with this challenges variations even without single trial condition.

It will be different for everyone. The Blight challenges are almost impossible for me. I’m not going to spend the hours figuring him out to that extent.

the risky repairs ends up forcing you to do a gen until it’s almost done and drawing attention from the killer while hoping a teammate doesn’t run over to finish it will you wait.

I would actually say the challenges you listed are fine. (Possibly with the exception of risky repair). If you want to get them easily i would do the following:

Safe landing: run a map offering for The game or the swamp as these maps have quite a few drops spread across the map. Then all you need to do is get in chase a couple times.

Fight back: camp pallets and possibly let the killer just hit you while running a fast self heal build. Repeat at three pallets.

Risky repair could be a little difficult you could probably get this through normal gameplay if you are okay with doing gens near the killer.

Overall you CAN get every challenge done through normal gameplay. It might just take a while

Risky Repairs is linked to the Terror Radius. Terror Radii vary quite a bit, and there are perks and powers that can remove the Killer's Terror Radius. Overall, I don't think the Terror Radius is a practical variable for challenges.
