Tips for Solo Survivors
We bicker back and forth on this game about balance, but if we are honest with ourselves, solo Q is pretty close to balanced for both sides, making life (literally) much more challenging when queuing up alone. Here are some tips to help survive.
———————-
A. LOADOUTS
This part is no big secret. Certain perks that are normally mediocre can turn the tide for solo survivors. Amongst these are: Alert, Bond, Empathy, Inner Strength, Kindred, etc. The sole purpose of most these perks is information about the map that you would normally have to rely on comms for. Wasting time having all 3 teammates coming to unhook a single survivor is catastrophic! Not only is everyone wasting time now, but the map is not pressured and the killer has to patrol a MUCH smaller area now which practically guarantees success for the killer
B. PSYCHOLOGY
Please understand that NOT everyone will the play the same way you do. Perhaps your playstyle requires other people to play the same way to be effective. You cannot control what others are doing in matches, only yourself. Make peace with the thought you will lose early, as a low-tier killer against an elite SWF would do the same. This will remove much of the aggravation and stress of solo matches.
C. UNITY TACTICS
You are a team, but don’t be afraid of dirty killer tactics. Make the best choices for your team, not fairness. If you unhook a teammate and the killer ignores you for the tunnel...let them! If you purposely give hits/downs, it’s just hurting the team as now you’re hooked and the recently unhooked survivor probably didn’t make it very far. If you’re the one being tunneled in this situation, sorry, but you’re STILL helping the team win. Now the killer still has only 1 survivor pressured leaving 3 survivors to do whatever the hell they want. Guess what? They’re going to be gen jockeys so you can complain about the “gen rush”. If a killer is playing dirty, they’re only going to kill 2 people max unless you surrender to the killer’s tactics. Survivors dictate the game, always have...make the killer play your game, don’t fall into theirs for the sake of altruism and fairness. This way, you’ll win much more matches.
D. TIME MANAGEMENT
DONT waste time. Always be doing something. Cleansing a totem, repairing a gen, unhooking/healing, in a chase. If there’s a moment the game that you are doing neither of these things, you’re handicapping the team. The longer a match progresses, the more favorable to the killer it becomes. Time is also wasted in chases, do NOT group up. If a killer pushes 2 of you off a gen, run opposite directions, not the same way. Giving free pressure is suicidal.
E. CHASE DRILLS
Chases end much more quickly for survivors on solo. This isn’t because they all of a sudden forgot how to loop. Their lack of info can leave them outpositioned for a free first hit often. Also, pallets can be scarce because a survivor used 8 in the first chase of the game. Ideally, if every solo survivor focused ALL their 1st chases on TLs, Gym’s and building loops...so never to drop a pallet, this plays to your team more effectively. Now when you’re getting chased the 2nd time, you still have options. Don’t be afraid to lead the killer to a deadzone (I.E., a corner of the map where all gens are already done). There are just too many low IQ killers that take this bait, exploit it.
———————-
These tips will NOT guarantee victory, but your success rate will be much higher. Solo survivor games should end in a draw almost every game (2 dead, 2 escaped). If you have questions, or disagree with something I mentioned, don’t be shy...but please explain WHY you disagree and I’ll tell you why I believe it works.

You're ignoring the fact that SWF's biggest asset is going into a trial with a lower, or even completely eliminated, chance of having a potato or selfish teammate.
It's also not balanced, not even close. I consider solo que games a borderline guaranteed 4k as killer, and for good reason. Even the teams that beat me do so out of luck more than skill, and I am a pretty average killer. Solo que is underpowered due to disorganisation, selfishness and potato teammates, who are often not actually potatoes but merely resemble them thanks to the aforementioned disorganisation screwing them over in a multitude of ways. Tactics won't change that.

Hmmm, playing a game with the mindset I will lose early everytime just makes me want to play something else. Unless I screw up really bad, which sometimes I do, I feel I should enjoy most part of the game...
But well, being efficient is indeed key to victory, but sometimes it's just not fun for me (both when the killer or the team is able to be too efficient does not feel like a fair match to me).

The game is not balanced for solos so there is no recommendations that will help. I can promise you that. Any killer worth their weight can throw on a bunch of slowgen and tracking perks and enjoy their victory. If you aren't playing in a 4man SWF then you are at a huge disadvantage.
