Why are the Devs so Slow to Rework/Balance Anything?

It always seems like when the devs talk about balancing/reworking anything, they're always talking about doing something 3-6 months out. Does it really take that long to tweak the numbers on a perk? I understand a whole rework is time consuming, but it seems like testing and iterating minor perk changes/balances shouldn't take that long.

I understand they're all working from home and probably less productive than usual, but it still seems like they drag their feet on changes/fixes. (If they acknowledge problems at all.) What do you guys feel?

Because of new chapters with new, killer, survivor, perks, maps etc that always comes with new bugs also.

There is more work put into it than just tweaking numbers. They have to agree on not making any other changes, observe the current effects of the perk and estimate the outcome of any possible changes, for different killer powers, playstyles, perks etc.

we don’t know how the testing and QA works internally either and how many stages there are.

but I can guarantee you it’s never just. A small number change

I guess it's because they need to test and implement it on all plataforms? They changed some perks this year but that's it.

When you ask about some perks changes, they reply with a "its in our to do list", which is sad to read because every perk is on their to do list.

They really don't care about how much time we wait, but they will eventually change.

Because BHVR is too focused on releasing new content rather than actually addressing problems with the game. Eventually it's going to be so much they can't fix it anymore, but BHVR knows that there's nothing competing with DBD at the moment so they're pretty cocky about that as well.

Odd, since sometimes it feels like a small number tweak is all it would take to make certain killers/perks more bearable. I guess another question would be, why don't they just try small tweaks on more frequent patches to fix these long periods where it feels like they're not doing anything?

More frequent patches is out because it takes like a week for Sony and Microsoft to review and certify a single patch for console, and they consistently do all updates for all platforms at the same time.

It's why they try and stuff several changes into one single patch, and also why console cannot ever participate in a PTB.

What @JPLongstreet said, plus the devs consider all ranks and player skill levels in consideration, while most here have a very subjective view on the problems they see.

One of their issues is they prefer to do changes in less regular, 'larger' (but not large enough) content patches. If they would instead update the game with smaller perk/addon tweaks more regularly I reckon it'd be better, and they'd be able to adjust more. Instead we waited over a year for a change to Cruel Limits, a god awful perk - but it's still god awful and we'll have to wait another 2? 3? months after this useless change for it to be potentially re-evaluated again.
