Licensed Killer Idea from Slasher: S1 - The Zealot.
SPOILERS FOR SEASON ONE OF THE NETFLIX SHOW SLASHER
So most people seem to not know much of the show on Netflix called Slasher. It's had 3 seasons now, each with a different type of killer, and honestly isn't that bad of a show. Decent gore (for season 2 and 3 particularly) and interesting killers that are very different in terms of purpose.
I decided I'd try my hand at making each one into a killer for DbD! These are my first killer concepts but I tried to make it more or less as balanced as I could. I don't know much on add ons so tried my best there too.
Without further ado, here's my concept for the killer from season one of the show.
THE ZEALOT
A judgemental killer, prepared to punish survivors who play selfishly
STORY:
Cam Henry was born to a well-to-do, devoutly religious family in a sleepy town called Waterbury. At a young age he was plagued with sleepwalking troubles and it quickly became clear how disturbed he was. This fact was cemented upon the murder of his mother, which his father swiftly covered up to protect him. Being a Reverend, his father Alan tried to turn him more to the side of religion in order to try to 'fix' him. He became a righteous soldier, joining the Waterbury police in order to bring justice to the town. Over time however, he grew more and more sickened by the people.. these sinners in his midst. He donned an outfit inspired by a killer from the past and set to work delivering his own personal judgement upon people he deemed worthy of nothing but death. His spree eventually ended in betrayal, a knife slipping in to him from someone that he loved. As he faded away, his confusion and anger suddenly combined with a cold sense of purpose. He opened his eyes once again and found himself in a forest. He heard his god speak to him and he knew what he must do.
THE ZEALOT
Power -
ADJUDICATION - You may activate Adjudication by pressing the power button. This will slow your movement speed slightly but give your basic attacks the ability to inflict the 'Judgement' status effect. Whilst under this status effect, the survivor gains an increase to healing and unhooking others, sabotaging hooks and the endurance status effect for 20 seconds after the hit, but a decrease to healing themselves, cleansing totems and repairing generators. This effect expires after 60 seconds, or can be removed by either unhooking or healing another survivor.
If the Judged survivor heals themselves, works on a generator or cleanses a totem, they instead scream, revealing their location and giving them the Broken status effect for 30 seconds.
Perks -
Warped Justice - You only prey upon those who have sinned, in your corrupted eye. You become obsessed with one survivor. When this survivor breaks a totem, heals another survivor or finishes repairing a generator, they suffer from the Exposed status effect for 30/50/70 seconds. Upon hooking the obsession, the next survivor to unhook, repair a generator or sabotage a hook becomes the obsession. Upon a new obsession, this perk goes on cooldown for 40/30/20 seconds.
"We all sin. Every day of our lives, we sin. However, I only kill those who deserve to die."
Doing What's Right - Your dogma guides all the work you do. Being in chases for a total of 40/30/20 seconds grants you a token to a maximum of five tokens. Each token grants you an additional 5% bonus to your Devout category. You may only earn a single token per chase.
"Real change takes time, but we are making a difference. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up."
Absolvence - Sinners can always be redeemed, so long as they make a sacrifice. Every time a survivor stuns or blinds you, you gain a token, to a maximum of 3 tokens. Each token increases your movement speed by 2/3/4% and your kicking speed by 5/7/9%. Each hit on a survivor, generator or pallet consumes one token.
"You have no sins, Alison? Nothing that weighs heavily on your conscience?"
ADD ONS
Withered Bouquet - Red - A bouquet of wilted flowers given to someone loved. Removes the endurance status effect from the Adjudication ability. If this survivor heals themselves, the other 3 survivors, if injured, are given the broken status effect for 30 seconds. If they are healed by a team mate, the survivor/s that healed them have their aura/s revealed to you for 15 seconds, but are given the endurance status effect for 10.
Child's Mask - Red - The mask worn when the first incident happened. Your field of view is decreased by 10%. When you hit a survivor down to the injured health state, the closest uninjured survivor to them screams and is inflicted with the Hindered status effect for 10 seconds.
Sinner's Stone - Purple - A stone used in the execution of a heretic. It is still slightly damp to the touch. Tremendously decreases the bonuses a Judged survivor gains to healing or unhooking another survivor or sabotaging hooks.
Incriminating Cellphone - Purple - A phone with evidence of his wrongdoing. Tremendously increases the Broken status effect duration after a Judged survivor self heals, works on a generator or cleanses a totem.
Blackmail Tape - Purple - The videotape that catalysed the first Zealot's murder spree. Judged survivors suffer from the Exhausted status effect for 15 seconds after performing any action, for 70 seconds. This has a cooldown of 5 seconds.
Crucifix - Purple - A crucifix borne by his father. Greatly reduces the Endurance timer upon inflicting the Adjudication ability.
Sheriff's Badge - Green - A symbol of your previous position. Slightly reduces the Endurance status effect time upon inflicting the Adjudication ability.
Nightstick - Green - A tool for beating the sinners. Moderately decreases the bonuses a Judged survivor receives from healing or unhooking another survivor or sabotaging a hook.
Photo Evidence - Green - A series of photos used to incriminate another. Moderately increases the Judged status effect duration.
News Article - Green - A cocky reporter's interview, immortalised in print. Judged survivors suffer from the Exhaustion status effect for 10 seconds when they perform any action whilst not in a chase, for 60 seconds. This has a cooldowm of 5 seconds.
Frayed Rope - Green - A rope used in one of the first murders. Moderately reduced movement speed penalty when channelling Adjudication.
Rat Poison - Yellow - A simple brodifacoum poison, can cause death if too much is ingested by a human. Slightly decreases the bonuses a Judged survivor receives when healing or unhooking a survivor or sabotaging a hook.
Adder Venom - Yellow - The venom of a dead snake, kept in a vial in memoriam of a righteous death. Adjudication attacks also apply the Mangled status effect for 60 seconds.
Soiled Sheets - Yellow - Bedsheets stained with the sins of the past. Judged survivors have their auras revealed for 5 seconds after being hit.
Broken Flashlight - Yellow - A police flashlight, broken in an altercation. Judged survivors have their auras revealed for 5 seconds after they scream.
Empty Honey Jar - Yellow - A jar of honey used for nefarious purposes. - Judged survivors suffer from the Exhaustion effect for 5 seconds after performing any action while not in a chase, for 50 seconds. This has a cooldown of 5 seconds.
Town Map - Brown - A map of the place you once called home. Judged survivors have their auras revealed for 3 seconds after being hit.
Forensics Bag - Brown - A bag used in investigations to hold evidence. Adjudication attacks also apply the Mangled status effect for 50 seconds.
Cruiser Keys - Brown - Keys to a police vehicle. The key is bent beyond use. Slightly increases the Judged status effect duration.
Children's Drawing - Brown - A drawing from a resident who looked up to you. Slightly reduced movement penalty when channelling Adjudication.
MORI - The Zealot walks up behind the survivor and pulls them up with one hand. It then cuts to in front of the survivor and the Zealot shoves a hunting knife through their back, the point stick through their chest. He pulls it up slowly, then pushes it down a little bit faster before withdrawing it, watching them fall onto their knees. He then places it across their throat and slits it.
