PC - Randomly Teleported after using a Demo Portal

I was playing demo the other day and occasionally after using your portal you won't emerge at the exit but rather a random distance away. I noticed that this happens mostly when I lag so it could be something to do with that. The first time this happened was about 2 weeks ago. When this happens, you can also get stuck in objects like the image below:
