Concept Tips! For aspiring concept creators!

I love creating concepts. I currently have 3 concepts that are posted here, and at least 7 that are still just drafts. Including but not limited to. Jeepers Creepers, Jason, Slenderman, and Pinhead. Right now my most popular one (and what I think is my best) is my Alien concept (I will be referencing that one througout) wanted to give a breakdown of how I create my concepts. This is so concept creators can see what I do, and maybe they can share what they do with me!

The killers power: This is easily the hardest part. The killers power has to be unique. I do listened concepts, mainly because I have no originality. But when I try to make a liscened power, I think of what the killer does from the movies, or something iconic that singles him out from other horror killers. My Alien concept has the Xenomorph climb on walls, evolove rapidly, and have face huggers, all of which are a reference to its first movie. I usually like my killers to do two things with their power, or one really big thing. In all my concepts, the killer does two things.

Xenomorph: Evolves and gains different powers

Springtrap: Can chharge forward and put springlock machinery on survivors

Big Daddy: Can stom, charge, and use his drill

All of these things are not too complex and correlate to the source material.

Next think about how the killers power would work with certain meta perks. My Alien concept would work great with Corrupt Intervention. High mobility killer power? Tinkerer would work. Slow build up killer? Anti gen perks would work. Fast paced killer relying on chases? Try Enduring.

Now. Onto the perks. So this one is MUCH simpler. I think of a unique perk idea I've always wanted, and just put it down. If its broken, its broken. Then I change it, and try to see how could the perk work, while keeping the premise. The best example of this in my concepts is my survivor perk from my Fnaf concept, You Wont Die. This perk gives you the ability to be hooked 4 times. However it doesn't activate until you have so many safe unhooks. Then, you are granted a 10 second timer on your 3rd hook. But now it sounds too weak. So, I made it so the killer must be 16 meters away for the timer to start counting. Perfectly balanced (in my opinion).

So now that thats out of the way, try your perks on different builds. If I find that one perk would be broken on more than 2 killers, I reconsider it. Perks are allowed to be strong, but don't make them excessively broken.

And that is my guide to creating concepts. Oh wait, I have one more. Go to the DbD discord, and post your concepts there. People are very friendly, and most of the time willing to check out your concepts. If you want me to check out your concept, ping me on the server. I'm Deadlocked, I have a Picard pfp. I'm active most of the time so feel free! Ty for reading, and Happy Gaming!

Wow. i just replyed to you under my concept. I didn't see you just uploaded this really good tiny advice. This explanation immediately inspired me another killer. Original, this time. I'm also gonna add to my Borg concept, with a new replay, some perk builds and extended lore explanation of the power. Really cool!
