Why genrush?
Hear me out. I know people find the term genrush as a meme or not a thing but when I chase one person and 3 gens fly, I think that's genrushing.
But why do it? Yeah you escape and do all your objectives but dang, me as a killer, I barely got to play. All genrushing does is get you out the game faster. Why even play at that point?

It is not genrushing. Genrushing means that survivors prioritize fixing gens over unhooking and healing. If they complete 3 gens during your single chase that's just your fault on chasing and protecting gens.

Gen rush to ensure the 5k BP escape is already yours. Then go back for totem, chest, toy with Killer for bonus.
Just as Killer tunnel 1 survivor out of the game then toy other 3 with three hooks each without afraid of Gen flies.

Whether I play survivor or killer I have a clock in my head sort of. As a surv I can sense we are in a match too long, or the gens are going too slow and I feel it. The need to get them done and get out increases.
Likewise as killer I feel each gen popping or steps taken in a chase like ticks on the clock as well, knowing my window to kill them all is narrowing.
Usually the longer the match goes on it favors the killer, but not always.

The sad simple answer is: If the Killer is bad Survivors do gens fast, if the Killer can't pick themselfs up the games over.
Get Good or Get Rushed, Survivors don't owe you anything and you don't owe them anything either.

The only "genrush" that really exists in any quantity is simply the current state of the repair to door time. The time imbalance between survivor objectives and killer objectives. It's been dbd's biggest problem since inception (well, maybe except the original infinites).
Killer can only commit to chase 1 survivor at a time, and can only threaten multiples for as long as they stay together. Survivors not being chased have literally no other game win objective to do EXCEPT hold m1 on a Gen.
There's an occasional edge case of Survivors bringing in speed perks and toolboxes, but that's not that common, and of course, the original bnp shenanigans are much diminished.
So really "genrush" is just an easy shorthand to refer to the fact that in an ideal gamestate, objectives are done in under 3 minutes + travel time, vs killer objectives being far more variable and potentially far longer to accomplish. A single survivor left on the hook = 1.5 gens done per remaining survivor (obviously assuming killer somehow has no pressure). Add in chase time, and in a worst case scenario, all gens could be done by the time 1 single survivor is chased, downed, and sacrificed on first hook (assuming a 40s chase time + whatever travel time from first three gens to second 2).
Obviously, nothing ever works out that cleanly in a legitimate match, but the disparity in the basic math lends itself to suspecting the problem lies mostly in that equation.
This will almost never be an issue when sub optimal Survivors are involved, but instantly becomes far more pronounced with Survivors who do play close to optimally.
Which is also part of why crappy matchmaking has such brutal effects on lower tier players. Good killers will struggle with the time crunch vs good Survivors, killers who are still learning will never be able to keep up with serious Survivors.
Potentially adding some new prerequisite objectives either before gens or in between gens could help with the time game, as well as having some actual consequences to being injured, as there are currently no mechanical penalties to it. But then you have the issue of new/still learning Survivors. Everything about the game is a massive wedge between low tier players and vets, and another wedge between those and swfs who are familiar with each other or are on comms. The game does very little to actually separate these, so any changes made will grossly over impact the lower echelon compared to the upper echelon.

Well what else are they going to do? If that one survivor is looping you for too long it's best to break off and find another survivor. Tinkerer and Discordance will be your new best friends if you're having trouble finding survivors
2 -
Because it's not up to the survivor to slow down the game. That's your job.

If you hate gens getting done there are perks to prevent that from happening ranging from the current meta of ruin + undying + tinkerer or even pop, discordance, etc. There are multiple ways to keep gens from slowing and if you are chasing a survivor that is super good at looping it's best to leave them and find a weak survivor. Anybody can do a gen but not everybody can run a killer.

I mean, I get your point about the match being done too soon, as a killer, but if you chase one survivor, what are the others supposed to do with their time? You are doing your objective, chase and hook survivors and they are doing theirs, fixing gens. They can destroy a totem or open a chest, but that takes a few seconds. After that, the only thing to do is fix the gens. Also, as much as you want to kill the survivors, they want to leave. The more time they spend in the match without fixing, the less chances they have of escaping.
This is a game where 1 sec makes a difference from the gen being fixed or being interrupted by the killer, chased, downed, the gen regressing and having to do it again. Believe me, as survivors, fixing gens is boring. Almost being done with one and then having to come back to it later, now only half done is not great fun either...

Because there isn't much else to do if the killer isn't pressuring properly. What you want them to run around aimlessly and give free hits? Survivors have an objective just as you have yours, infact they have even more optional things than you do as killer. Chests, sabotage or flashlight saves, totems.
If the killer is playing well then they'll have unhooks to go for, heals to go for, maybe the killer procs Devour or has Undying so now they have a sub-objective to go for.

That's literally All the survivors have to do if no one is hooked, is do generators, it's the whole point of the survivors side of the game. I'm a killer main and even I understand, just have fun

Survivors may greater prioritize gen rushing even more so now, to counter Oppression in an attempt to guarantee it won’t have the opportunity to serve its full potential.

Well thats how i feel when tunnelled out of the game. Why do it? i barely get to play, yet it happens anyways there are matches where you'll get gen rushed or tunnelled out of game. Its happening because it helps people to win, as survivor its far more likely you can escape if you can get the gens done quickly. As a killer if you manage to get one survivor out of game its way more likely the remaining survivors wont manage to complete gens with one man down.

I like the idea of making sub other objectives between gens or something to help killers who struggle with applying pressure and stuff BUT at higher levels killers can capitalise to easily on those to end the game with 4K more frequently.

There are many problems with this. I will give you my take on this without being an asshat like some people tend to be. So, if your chasing a survivor for a while and you are struggling to get a hit or you get a hit but it takes too long then immediately break the chase and go to other gens. This is helped greatly by perks which I find absolutely ridiculous that a problem a lot of killers face is only partly solved by a bandaid solution which is just bad game design. That and not everyone has those perks seeing as they're locked behind a paywall and a massive grind.
In F13 game to complete your objectives you have to search the map for parts and I quite like that idea and perhaps it could be implemented to DBD in some way. Maybe there's certain chests that spawn that contain a generator part that once it's put in, will allow you to repair the generator. Honestly I think gens could do with a rework because it's lame for both sides. For killers they can go too fast without the right perks and for survivors it's just a boring loading bar minigame.

Im just a horrible player while being chased im litterally free kills. Thats why i just do gens, cause i would also like to play the game and not be taken out immediately.

For the same reason you hook rush.

The simple truth is early game. the survivors have only 1 mission. Restart Gens.
So many people here have said "if you still chasing when a couple gens are done, it is your fault" which is just as helpless of a statement. What else is the killer suppose to do? Depending on where the killer starts and finds the first person, often times 2 or 3 other gens are being worked on.
Only real option is to "waste" 2 to 3 Perk slots on things that slow down Gens, which does work, but repetitive and boring.
If I play a game and use a lot of good anti-gen perks. I get taunted in end game with "you only did good because of X perks" I use perks I enjoy (chase perks) then game ends fast because gens get done fast and I get "you suck haha" messages at end of the game.
Honestly I love the chase part of the game. I don't even mind if the players finish all 5 gens and a couple get away. (I often don't kick/hit a gen, until they are down to 2) If I have some fun with chase perks and hunt a few players down enjoyed the game, but of course I'll still get yelled at/taunted at the end of game. I wish the "chase" part of the game could last longer without losing all the gens so fast, but if they slow down gens, they would have to tweak a lot of perks.
Just give me a game mood, where there are no chance and its hide/seek and players get a bunch of points for just surviving, accomplishing other goals.. Like Last 10 Minutes in X map and have some other random game element going on.

As people have said, if you focus only on one survivor for too long you're going to see that gen counter drop fast. I've been in matches where a killer has chased someone for the entire match and all 5 gens were done, only to be accused of gen rushing afterwards. If you refuse to move to another survivor, of course gens will be done. You can't expect them to just pop one gen and go have a cup of tea while you get your first hook.

Its easier to guard four generators than seven. Most of my matches are won with zero or one generators remaining and that’s okay.

maybe you should learn when to DROP A CHASE. maybe. u can notice if a survivor is decent after 15 seconds of chase, get the pallet and leave if u still insist then well, i hope you have very good slowdown perks (like ruin, corrupt or something) because the others are doing stuff

If 3 gens go during a single chase, you spent way too much time chasing that survivor. That means the other 3 have been left un-pressured for at least 80 seconds. If you can't get a hit in ~20 seconds, it might be better to switch targets.

hook rush? #########. hook rush doesnt exist because survivors are not like gens, you have to chase them, down them and then hook them, is impossible to hook rush unless survivors got slugged very hard wich is very odd to happen except for those very rare nurses and huntress (if peopel didnt spread out).

Why shouldn't survivors play optimally? If 3 gens are going in a single chase in a regular public match, you are doing something very, very wrong.

Please learn to apply pressure to survivors. It becomes easier to deal with over time.
