I can't get to rank 1 survivor...
Whoever says survivor is easy obviously doesn't get the teammates I do cause this ######### is the most frustrating experience I've had in any game. I play killer at rank 1. I can hold my ground really well against a coordinated swf team or just really good survivors. Yet I can't seem to pip up when I play survivor. Every other game my teammates let me go to struggle or the killer proxy camps so everyone ends up dying. Otherwise they simply just don't do gens and make really stupid plays that would make me chuckle if I was playing killer. The thing is, whenever I'm the killer survivors are literally slamming on the gens the entire game and I have to concentrate like hell if I wanna do well. Where the ######### are those survivors when I'm playing surv????

You need to max out the altruism emblem consistently to rank up in red ranks and get to rank 1. You need to be on a gen, and go for a save when you can. I highly, HIGHLY recommend borrowed time if you're playing for rank.
Try not to be the first one in a chase, but if you are have a plan to make it a long chase for the chaser emblem. I will say in games where I'm the runner I usually only safety pip at red ranks. It's only when I'm the rescuer that I pip consistently.
Get them unhooks. They're crucial to your success in red ranks if you're going for rank 1.

I'll definitely give this a try. I usually try to get chased since I know all the tiles really well from playing killer, thinking that my teammates will focus on gens in the meantime. Instead they all start running at me once I go down and it's all snowballing from there...

I hit rank 1 and I die a majority of my games. I'm usually camped to oblivion because I have to run the Killer otherwise nothing gets done but its not that hard just tiresome playing one pip games.

Break a couple totems, unhook a couple teammates, repair a gen or two. Then just play normally.

It's literally a challenge not to pip even at rank 1 regardless of how bad your teammates are. Not to mention how the slow rank reset has made it almost impossible to actually de-rank now. Awful teammates you'll probably lose and die, but you will still pip. If you aren't pipping then you are doing barely anything for your team. Do at least 1 gen, make a save, pop a totem and run the killer a tiny bit. There's your pip.

Most people will just tell you ez it is to play survivor and pip..
i think dull totems don’t do anything for emblems, but hex ones do.
running the killer will give you lightkeeper emblem points as well as the chasing one. but I think (not sure) every hit you take is registered as a ‚lost chase‘...
only doing gens is def not the right way and escaping is not highest priority if you wanna pip.

Just be really self-sufficient and well rounded. Don’t always be stealthy, don’t always be aggressive, don’t always be a gen jocky. Mix it up.
Pull your weight in chases, do gens, do totems and unhook people. If you feel you’re not doing enough of one of those things, purposely try to do it just to spread out your points and emblems

Try building for pip also. You can use the suggestions bellow:
1-Prove Thyself: It gives massive bonus bp for coop actions and can help max Objective and Altruism if working with other survivors. Goes well with Bond/Aftercare/Better Together
2-Toolbox/Saboteur: Sometimes the killer ignores you or you don't have a chance to be chased. Sabotage gives you much needed Boldness.
3-Obsession Perk: Dying as the obsession awards you 1000 points in survival, escaping gives 1500. You can use DS or other obsession perk to be the obsession. The most consistent one is For the People, as you can transfer the status for you and leave the game/die.
4-BT: is not a direct boost to the score, but unsafe unhooks can penalize you badly.
5-Try to escape chases constantly by breaking line of sight.
6-remember that We're gonna Farm Forever does not count towards piping.
7-By far survival is the hardest to 8k. You can also use Deliverance as self unhook awards 1500 points.
8-Hatch escape gives you extra points, just don't die looking for it.
9-Good luck. You will have bad games/bad teammates. Try to make the most and better yourself, escape is not always an option but is also not required for piping.
10-The eventual forever Freddy/Iri head Huntress/Ebony Mori Spirit will give you a miserable experience and probably depip you. They must be having a bad day/were ######### on by some other team but don't let that bring you down. What moves you forward is your average performance, just keep your focus and don't forget to enjoy the game :)

I really suggest reading the emblem wiki so you get a really clear idea of how emblems work, and how to max them.
That being said, the build I find it easiest to pip with is: Borrowed Time, We'll Make It, Dead Hard, Spine Chill. Spine chill can be swapped out with something else, Decisive or Iron Will would be a good replacement, I just need spine chill because I'm not very observant and stealth killers always get me.
Borrowed and We'll Make It work really well in maxing out your altruism fast, and it comes in handy when killers are using sloppy since you heal people at double the speed for a minute and a half after unhooking. Faster heals means you're back on a gen or in a chase sooner.
Dead Hard, when it doesn't leave you exhausted on the ground, is the best chase perk hands down. If you ######### up a loop, you've got a second chance. Or, if you didn't ######### up, you can still use it to gain distance and keep the killer occupied even longer.
So, those perks take care of altruism and boldness, but then of course Gens need to get done. The only gen speed perk is Prove Thyself, and while it's one of my favorite perks, I wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to pip. It shortens the game, and when you fill up your objective points you're less likely to want to keep working on gens. However, full objective points with prove thyself will only leave you with a silver emblem most of the time. So, just do gens normally.
Finally, the 2-2-2 rule that others have mentioned is literally invaluable. I used to think I was doing enough when I was in purple ranks, and I didn't understand why I wasn't pipping, but then I started actually keeping track of the 2-2-2 rule and it got a lot easier.

Careful, they don't like honesty in this forum. I feel your pain, and it really never seems to be rank dependent. Whether it's immediately after reset, lower ranks or up in red, these weak links turn up constantly as teammates and so rarely as opponents.

I notice lately on both survivor and killer, alot of survivors loving to give up early or dc. Like a david try to give up on hook, only they couldn't due to someone saving them, so they dc. That or a game I had as killer, where only one survivor wanted to play the game, since the rest of his team mates gave up on first hook. They got hook, gave up and repeat. I gave them the hatch. For their team really screwed them over. I'm not sure if the survivor I let go safely pip, lost a pip or depip, due to them being a console player. So I couldn't ask. People wanting to give up super early, seems to be happening alot more often lately from what I notice. Which for someone trying to pip, is not a very good time.

...and I say you can, and you will
a li’l patience goes a long way in this game,
all the way up to Rank 1
Keep going!

It's just practice, but really overrated. I felt the same way until I hit it a few times. What's really fun is after you don't play for a while and you derank, you can run some killers for quite a while. Like others said though, just do a little of everything. Get a stun. Escape a few chases. Save someone. Heal someone. Do a totem. Just don't forget two gens. You'll get there.
Sadly I just don't have the patience to get killer to rank 1. Nor do I think it would be a very fun experience.

Solo survivor isn't easy.
Survivor compared to killer is easy, but you can be easily overwhelmed without the help of your team.
So, yes, survivor really isn't difficult, however it is a team game and as such if you are stuck with potatoes, you're going to have a bad time.
People will say you can pip on your own despite your sucky team, but I'd argue this is still extremely difficult. Most of the time you'll be competing against your teammates to get unhooks, be out-positioned to finish a generator your team can't do or going to unhook when your whole team is urban evading. Often you end up doing good if your team is doing good, to an extent.
Get yourself a few buddies you meet in solo that do a good job and band up together to do games. You won't win them all, but it won't be the lottery anymore.

I have done 2 gens and saved one person and the game is over with the gates open... How do you pip if your team is way to efficient?
1 -
This is why the points need to be reworked. Survivors dive bomb hooks for this reason. That sucks when ur the only one doing gens and 2 to 3 survivors go down within 1 to 2 minutes of the game. Because they know that altruism plays a big part in pipping, nothing else seems to get done when I go solo. :(

I have same experience but with killer, cant get to rank 1 for 3 ranked seasons now, my best rank is 3 and now I am stuck at rank 4 for 2 weeks already.
However I got to rank 1 survivor multiple times and first time it was around a month of playing this game so I, personally consider survivor much easier than killer even in solo queue but everyone is built different

What killer do you play?
