Why do survivors get to keep their items between matches?
I never thought about WHY.
For killers, they have to constantly pump points into a killer to remain relevant on it since addons are lost between games regardless of how well you do and for some reason the devs seem to be balancing their killers around the addons as opposed to making awesome, strong killers who get slightly better with addons.
This is, of coarse, in contrast to survivors who not only keep their items and addons between matches (assuming they played well enough), they can also find items and addons on the map.
I'm more just curious about the logic behind this rather than a legitimate complaint.

Killers addons are usually stronger
Killers keeping addons like the one shot axe + the fact that ultra rare addons aren't that rare would make them absurdly strong
Survivors need to survive to keep their addons (or white ward addon)
Edit: killer also get more BPs (usually), even if we consider survivors can look for another match while killer has to "wait" till the end of the match.6 -
I’m fine with survivors keeping them because you get such a drastically low amount of BP as survivor compared to killer. A great killer match for me usually nets 65k+ BP. A great survivor match might get me 25k BP. Of course there are exceptions. A cake plus full WGLF stacks can get more, but on average you earn way more as killer.3

Was actually just thinking about it. I think toolboxes shouldn't regenerate charges after the game is over and add ons for them should be consumed.

Someone made a good suggestion not long ago, that killer add-ons should last for x amount of games. Obviously ultra rares should stay at only game. It's a good idea, because even though killers earn more BP on average, they chew through add-ons very quickly and you're just as likely to get bad add-ons as you are good ones. It's not a terrible system but it's also not that great.
What could also work is giving us the ability to recycle our add-ons/items into bloodpoints. This is a feature that has been requested for a while, and probably wouldn't be all that difficult to code. Set add-ons to half their cost, and items to like two thirds. The only issue I see with it is that they may not want people to store up a butt ton of add-ons they don't want in addition to the 1 mil BP at the max, plus shards and dailies to instantly get a killer all the perks people want. It would be a great system for both sides imo.1 -
1. Add ons are stronger and last the whole match (they do not have charges).
2. Killers can't die.4 -
Survivors get to keep items as a reward for escaping. I really wish the devs would address the recharging item exploit. I made a thread for it a while ago on how I would address the recharge issue.

Killers should be able to get a % chance to retrive one addon based on the amount of sacrificed survivors.

Survivors have a very definitive win/loss condition, so you can tie items into that and have it work seamlessly. Escape > Keep, Die > Lose.
Killers are a little more grey. You can kill four, you can kill zero. You can do really well and hook each person twice, or you can do really poorly and camp the only guy you catch. There's no easy way to say, "This is a win, you get to keep your stuff."
(That's just the reasoning, I'm totally down for a way to keep your add-ons as killer as well.)

Why not make it so each time a item (only items brought into the match) is left behind (killing the survivor or match ends with it still in the map) it is converted into a killer add-on.
Sure you would need to balance out how many items = how many killer add-ons and rarity and stuff, but it would give the killer something to shoot for.
Possibly to avoid "item hook camping" once you hook that survivor you need more survivor items to increase the rarity of what add-on you get? I don't know what balance could be done.

Like said above: killers get much more BP, plus, they don't die. And yeah, survivors don't really have items/addons that match the most powerful killer addons, except for instaheal perhaps.
A much bigger issue I think is the addon dependency of certain weaker killers. I want Redhead's Pinky to be a common addon0 -
Never really bothered me really. As cheap as the bloodweb is plus all the ways to get more, I'm never short on the add-ins I want.
