Apparently Bloodlust is getting disabled temporarily for this weekend?
This isn't my screenshot, but apparently they're testing out the game without Bloodlust enabled on live servers. Beast of Prey has been pretty much deactivated. What are your thoughts on this?

They should give us a blood hunt while they disable it so they give us a reason to play cuz this is gonna be rly annoying

So holding W this weekend, ok good to know, time to use blight and nurse.
It might be a good test but I just don't like that probably a lot of people will just hold W and do well.

This will be a healthy change, killers are too easily able to catch up to survivors.

Honestly with the way the game is currently balanced it is a needed mechanic.
A decent amount of loops are safe, and those that aren't can be used to string multiple strong loops together.
Plus with how quickly games can go, something is needed to make chases end sooner.
If loops, game time, and perks were balanced. It could be safely removed.
( this is without mentioning the slow moving killers )

Just saw this. This is pretty interesting. I don't think I've seen them do this on live before. Personally Bloodlust only goes past level 1 for me if I'm being seriously outplayed by a god looper. So I may hop on killer and play a few games.

I'm honestly kind of excited about this. I would love for the game to get into a state where Bloodlust isn't necessary, and while I'm not sure we're there yet, I like that they're testing this out. Some people might be annoyed that they're doing this on live servers, but I'm personally okay with it. I would be curious to test this out myself, but not curious enough to waste the time and bloodpoints of testing it on a PTB. If it sucks, we can always play killers like Nurse that don't really get much out of Bloodlust.

I don't think this is going to be a problem! As a killer main I rarely Bloodlust, but it'll also give newer killers, or a killer that depends on Bloodlust to learn when to give up a chase or to break a pallet since the loop is insanely strong with the pallet down!
6 -
good, its such an outdated mechanic
19 -
Another archetypal BHVR move. 'We have a PTB, but let's just throw this into live with a couple days' notice!'
Certain killers cannot do anything at particular loops, such as the cow tree loop on Coldwind maps. As someone else said yesterday, proof BHVR does not play their own game.
31 -
No one is gonna play on PTB to check this out.

I'm looking forward to playing some matches without bloodlust-fps-drops.

Its nice that they are finally put some thought if Bloodlust is still needed. At least on newer Maps, Bloodlust really ruins it. With unsafe Pallets there is no need for Bloodlust, but it makes chases around them pretty obnoxious, since the Killer does not need to outplay the Survivor, they just have to wait.
The ideal scenario would be that the Survivor can trick the Killer by faking a vault which allows the Survivor to get to the next unsafe Pallet. But with Bloodlust, this is not really a thing.

I'll be interested to see if this has any major effects on map design. If the devs notice a significant increase in the strength of certain loops or areas on certain maps this could mean better map design changes in the future. It would be nice to reach a point where bloodlust isn't necessary in certain places as it's always felt like a weird band aid fix to the strength of certain tiles, like the god bus, for example. Or the main building windows in Crotus Prenn.

Bloodlust isn't a must have in the game anymore. Just my opinion doe
12 -
YEEEEESSSS,NOW I CAN PLAY KILLER AND NOT GET SCREWED OVER FROM THE FPS DROPS THAT BLOODLUST CAUSES :D
21 -
What killer are you playing where you lose a game solely because of cow tree. Also, no one is gonna play the PTB to test out the epic lack of bloodlust lol
12 -
Regardless of what this example actually involves (bloodlust) I actually like the thought of short and temporary little "tests" like this on the live game. I'd love to just have an always-on PTB where they try all sorts of wacky stuff, but you don't get nearly as many players by doing that. Especially when the PTB is a beta branch on Steam instead of its own library entry.
Hopefully they do similar experiments with other stuff in the future.

blood lust is fine imo, the killer NEEDS to have chases that last less than a minute to have a good chance to win. In fact any chase over 40 seconds is already a time loss.
I think the devs will find that this will make the default m1 killers kill rate decrease a bit but other killers like huntress and such who's power resets blood lust won't be affected too much.
hope they don't do anything drastic, sure the mechanic can be used to get a survivor easier but it takes time for it to reach that point.

If they do get rid of Bloodlust, what would become of Beast of Prey? Would it simply have to be completely changed? Personally...I'd be ok with bloodlust being an effect of the Beast of Prey perk. Meaning...you only get the effect of you use the perk. But that's just me.

Not really sure how I feel about this.
On one hand, most of my hits happen either just as I get bloodlust 1 or before it even happens when you count pallet breaking.
On the other, the incredibly skillful move of just holding W might become much stronger on maps that allow it and 110% killers might not be able to catch people at tight loops.
3 -
I kinda agree on that since it was introduced during the dark days of pallet vacuums and such but certain m1 killers kinda get a lot of use out of it since they are not the best themselfs.
1 -
Just remove bloodlust already
2 -
Guess I better go get my Huntress adept today.
1 -
Yeah i cant wait to hold W and jump a window once in a while and have an easy game.
Im not playing killer for sur this week end not only that but they still did not put freddy back on the ps5
4 -
RIP new killers (for the weekend).
8 -
Hopefully it gets turned into an actually good perk. Third time lucky.
1 -
Freddy will return with the next Chapter. There is no official date yet.
And well, would be better to play Killer, to actually see the impact. I can say that you dont need Bloodlust most of the time.
1 -
Actually it would be better to play the killers that need bloodlust the most so they can see how this effects them.

Usually devs gives double xp on weekend not this kind of "experiment".
We are players not lab mouses.
10 -
Wonder how the 2 people that run beast of pray are going to react to this?
4 -
I don't mind a test weekend, seems too small of a change to open up a PTB for it.
As for Beast of Prey being disabled...
18 -
Angery! I use it as an almost sure way to max out the hunting category - unless I'm in sweat-mode.

In a way the devs might be learning. Instead of making changes that will obviously affect the game they're going to temporarily disable them to see how bad the effects are.
Almost like they don't want a repeat of something that happened long ago. I can't quite remember it. It had something to do with a drastic change to a vital perk for killers. What was it's name? All I remember is once they change it 5 gens were repaired in like 2 mins. Then instead of reverting the change they nerfed the living #@$% out of something from the other sides arsenal to try to compensate for the horrible change. Heaven forbid the devs undo a horrible patch because that would be admitting they screwed up.
Either way, I picture very few people playing killer this weekend.

Blight time

What? This is such a stupid idea that I can't tell if it's fake, but if it's not, then this going to suck. Can't wait for the boring, braindead tactic of running straight to get even worse.
5 -
This will definitely be eye opening for some killers. Many don't understand zoning and pathing at all
10 -
I think this is a great idea. Instead of hypothesising about the effect Bloodlust has on the game, they can run a test, get thousands of matches’ worth of data, and see what effect removing it has in a live environment, which gives them more information to work with. It may turn out that it makes no difference, or kill rates may plummet, but who can know for sure without testing?
I’d love to see them do this with more stuff tbh. Plus this keeps the game interesting from a player perspective - even a temporary change is still a change to the way you have to play the game.
6 -
when you dont play the game you make
6 -
My first thought was console killers won't have to deal with atleast one type of fps drop this weekend. 😂
4 -
I think it's rather weird they're testing this right now when they're in the middle of reworking the maps. Like... The data is going to be completely irrelevant when all the maps are reworked because those maps that are quite questionable atm like Fractured Cowshed and Ormond will be changed anyways (well Ormond is going to be with the Twins DLC at least).
1 -
The effect looked stupid anyway, i hate the way it blurs the screen.
For survivor, however...oh boi get ready for people running object sprint burst on Midwich, coldwind offerings and playing every main building with lithe and BL.
Hope you all know how to play Blight.

So here's the cycle so far:
- Game releases. Lots of overpowered loops exist.
- Bloodlust is added to counteract the god loops.
- God loops are toned down. Bloodlustis toned down.
- Map reworks bring some god loops back, while some just never went away to begin with.
- Bloodlust removed.
...great.
25 -
Speedy killers won't get affected as much.
Killers with m1 powers could be effected negatively in some aspects.
Slow killers are screwed lol.
Can't wait to see how feeback goes.
3 -
Can we stop with "the devs don't play their game." They do, some of them stream on twitch.
5 -
I never really noticed bloodlust effecting my games much so meh.
Going to suck on midwich though
But if this leads to beat of ptey being reworked i won't complain
0 -
I do need bloodlust 1 in some loop and map.
Still freddy wont be back for the week end so for sure i wont play killer i dont really enjoy the other killer.
Personally we will see a huge increase in survivor escape rate for the week end.
I dont know for sure but in my opinion killer eith high mobilith will be the priority this week end

- "Map reworks bring some god loops back, while some just never went away to begin with."
This is a flawed argument. Because you would lose Bloodlust anyway when breaking a Breakable Wall. I doubt that you dont break the wall, but vault the window and bloodlust a god loop.
2 -
I don't have an issue with them testing this. I'm just confused why now? A lot of maps haven't been reworked yet and Ormond's rework hasn't been pushed live either.
2 -
This mechanic is really outdated and they did say in the PTB they would look into it and I guess they actually told the truth. IMO and this isn't a likeable one so sorry if it offends you but they should really nerf the gen speeds a lot but buff the 1v1 chase aspect of the game because thats the fun part! No one comes here to hit great skill checks we want to have fun chases that feel like a real 1v1

It is probably time to look at bloodlust, it is an antiquated mechanic.
