A Huge Flaw In The Ranking
I'm gonna give a bit of context here before I get to the meat of the post, so please humor me for a moment.
So, like I've mentioned in a pretty recent post, I've just come back to this game recently, and I was having a really good time. I wasn't try-harding or anything, and was playing fairly casually. Then on another post, the question if people play this game for fun was a thing. OFC with my experience I've been having I commented saying, ye why else would I play? I've been having a ton of fun.
This leads me into my main point. The rank system. I inevitably hit the red ranks as killer, without even trying. So now I've hit a point at rank 3 where all I come across are groups of survivors sweating their balls off every game rushing gens, bringing maps full load of crutch perks and with nothing I feel like I can do.
With my current standing in the rank system I cannot enjoy the game casually anymore. I have not got a game without a sweaty af team in somewhere around 12 games now.
I don't want to have 4k's every game obviously, I just don't want to have games where I get two downs and that's it by the time all gens are done. I don't want to have to run Ruin, or waste my iridescent shards on Blight just to stand a chance. I don't want to have to play killers like Spirit, Pyramid Head and Hag just to not get destroyed.
I'm a Pig main, my favourite perks are I'm All Ears and Fire Up. How am I supposed to enjoy playing that casually when I am put up into red ranks within a week of on/off play after college?
The ranking system really needs to be reworked I feel for the casual player, if not just put into a different playlist and have a casual unranked mode implemented either.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, your friendly Pig main,
Alpha Jackson.

Yeah I feel you with red ranks. I just came back from a decently sized break, and I am not having fun in red ranks.
MMR was supposed to fix the rank issue, but made it worse by putting new players against veterans.

A casual playlist of some kind is a good idea, or, to go one step further (because we all know the casual playlist will likely get abused), implement a prestige system so that players can reset their rank. It'd probably be a good idea to reset perks as well but maybe not to the point of having to re-acquire them at random in the Bloodweb, maybe just make them gradually available for purchase at certain Bloodweb levels. I'm sure the devs could think of a decent system for that but, honestly given the game's age, it's probably too late to do something like this. Prestige resets probably has a better chance of being possible as the current playerbase and numbers would not support an additional playlist that'll end up splitting up the players and causing even longer queue times than we already have. Plus, with Prestige resets, you can also implement more rewards to give the dedicated players even more stuff to strive for.

I get that splitting the player base wouldn't be the greatest idea right now, but it's also entirely possible that having the option to play the game in a casual environment would bring some people back. The inability to play casually is such a huge turn away.
