Killers - Why?
Some killers have so much pride that they will literally chase you for 3-5 gens non-stop. If you've done this before, tell me. Is it pride? Is it just tunnel-vision? Some will even face camp after finally hooking you.
If you do/have done this. Seriously, why?

I can't speak for others but for myself. If I throw the match to chase you for that long, you probably did something to deserve it.

How so? Being a distraction? Blinding you on a pallet stun? What's the survivor cardinal sin to avoid this?

Dude, I love that. If a killer chases me the whole game its one of the best games as getting chased is the only thing really fun in dbd

Im actively just farming bp and no longer caring about pips.. So if i chase you for 3-5 gens i just want to hook you once and move to the next person for bbq and chili gains

Usually something I consider toxic. Like deliberately pointing at your teammates to tell me where they are, tea bagging every single pallet numerous times, getting pulled off the hook and deliberately getting in my face to use your DS, hacking. I've rarely done it but when "I" do it's for a damn good reason.
If a killer is tunneling you for 3-5 gens then either you really pissed them off or that killer is playing poorly. If you lead them on that long a chase then you effectively won the match for your team.

Why not? At that point if you’ve committed to losing that much time, you might as well just throw it and get your goal. Like a dog chasing a car except you know what you’re going to do when you catch it.

Of course is way to lose for killer if he commit to 5 gen chase. And it's more beginner killer's playstyle. But I still can fall for that as well if I get such a rare god-looper against me. When you chase someone this good it become really exciting. You don't care about gens anymore, you want to hunt your prey as Golden Snitch from Harry Potter. In that case you change your personal win conditions to kill this guy and don't care about pleasing the entity.

for me it if a team mate is hiding in a locker and you rat your team mate out your not leaving alive

I've liked the way you put it, lorewise i think this would be a commom ocurrence.

In my experience there are two types of killer who chase you too long:
- They're good killers and smart players, and they realize they're better off dropping chase and finding a weaker link in the chain to break the whole team.
- Their pride is hurt, so they refuse to let you get away/win. Once they commit more time without catching you, they know they've thrown the game and it becomes pure bitterness that makes them continue to chase (and inevitably facecamp) you.
I had a clown do that to me today. I never do anything toxic, but I was dropping pallets like mad and he refused to refill his bottles, he just chased me normally. The results were I led him on a 4 gen chase (And I'm a terrible looper, I just kept running into more pallets)
He facecamped, Claudette unhooked in his face (no BT) and I went down, but I got to a pallet in time. He was STILL so tunnel-visioned that he didn't even hesitate to pick me up. But Claudette was still in the area and Pallet-Saved me and then she distracted him so I could get away. She looped him around that pallet a few times while I got healed and then.... DC. Killer disconnects, furious he wouldn't be able to facecamp.

I have never done it in the way that you are describing it but I remembered the times where I comitted way to long to chases that cost me the game.
For me it was a feeling of being tempted and at the same time triggered. It felt stupid to me that they can loop me for this long (I mean, it is stupid that survivors can literally loop certain killers for 5 gens), so I at least wanted to show to myself that I can get them eventually. So you could say that it is pride. That would also explain why some killers face camp in the end, eventhough I think this is more an issue of "I chased you for the whole entire game and lost it, now I am making sure you don't get out". The better a survivor is at looping and the more you make mistakes while looping, the more it frustrates you. And somtimes you don't even make mistakes but you can't get them if they don't screw up .That's probably the reason in general why killers want to punish good loopers and feel very frustrated. Not because they played toxic but because it gives them a feeling of being powerlessness.
Nowadays I barely don't do these mistakes anymore and now it is more a feeling of being excited and knowing that I am capable of getting them. But still...this can be a big trap. Eventhough I mostly play killers that can actively end chases, that doesn't mean that you make the right reads and the right plays. And I would lie if I would say I never get triggered in a chase. Sometimes, even with a lot of experience and being good at certain killers, you will still encounter that feeling of having nothing you can do.

It's not pride at all in my case. If I come across someone so good they can run me that long, my priority is to chase them the entire match because that person in the long term will help me get better at chases more than chasing the dopes who do down in two seconds. Rare, valuable experience like that is worth so much more than the outcome of a single match. Always go up against your betters! That's how you go from good to great.

I play on Nintendo Switch with crossplay off as killer. When I do it (and it's extremely rare) it's probably because I remember the person and they were extremely toxic to me at one point and I'd stop at nothing to make sure they're dead. Eat the DS, eat the BT, eat the everything.

Sometimes you get caught up in the moment.
It is impossible to make logical decisions 100% of the time as a hooman...

Pretty much the only time I'll do this intentionally is if you brought a key.
There have however been times where I did this by accident. Probably more times than I can remember. Doing this by accident... usually it happens because you've got the survivor in question injured and feel like you're on the verge of getting him down... but they keep just barely getting to the pallet in time. Just barely getting the window vault off. Just barely getting to a new tile before you could catch up. So... you keep at it. You keep trying because you feel so close then by the end of it you look up and realize you've lost all your gens and start figuratively kicking yourself.

I don't know about other players, but I do it for a laugh. I'll just chase the first survivor I find for as long as possible, sometimes they'll even stay at one dropped pallet for all five gens. Then, when the fifth gen pops, I ditch them to go open the door. Nothing to do with pride, I just find it funny.

I like how commiting to a chase is already called tunneling. Just throw in generic insults to say "I don't like your playstyle" even if it doesn't fit. Last option is always "tryhard" when everything else is obviously wrong...
The common reason is I guess tilting, and giving up on the match. I think pride is so massively wrong to assume... And besides that, I also saw on stream and did it myself while thinking "ok, game is lost, but that guy is good, I just commit and see if I can learn something, trying to pull some other mindgames once I understood what he is doing right." There you got 2 possible other and imo legit reasons for such a behavior. I mean, you never tbag an annoying killer to make him hook you so you can get out of the game you don't like to play? The killer can't get out of the game without eating a penalty.
Sorry if I am offensive, don't take it personally
, I just hate it when people get one SINGLE information and think they understood down to the quantum mechannics of DBD. Like I hear so often for example "3500 hours nurse, and still so baaad". Exactly. 60-70% survivor main and almost no time put into nurse out of this 20+ killer roster, maybe validate again... Or someone getting hooked, seeing noone sitting on a gen and therefore killing themselves. This is a goddamn 10 second snippet you see there, you know nothing about which challenges the team is targeting, searching for totems for Inner Strength or whatever. There could be 3 gens on 80% right now! Or how often I got accused of being in SWF because I had a map for my Inner Strength so I don't need Det. Hunch, and some random brought a key. There are so many situations like that with bullshit conclusions...0 -
I'm probably trying to learn a new killer and want to practice chasing... Otherwise it's a waste of time

If I don’t care about actually killing anyone that game and just want good chases and someone is obviously very good at looping I’ll focus on them whenever I get the chance.

BBQ stacks :)

Where can I find killers that does this, mine will leave me after 20 seconds

If its a junk map ill do it or they change to a key last second in the lobby.
Or I am playing basement trapper.
ORRRRRRR I am trying to depip

When i started out i have done this a couple of times to get better at chases.
Find a good looper and chase him all the time to see what works and what doesn't.
Obviously threw those matches but i believe it made me better

This requires a lot about just how the games go.
If a killer hasnt downed anyone before 3 gens pop...its kinda over, because the killer has not established any pressure at that point and there are 4 survivors and only 2 gens needs left doing.
This is actually why many killers will come across as "try hard" and "sweaty" because from your perspective you are all just messing around or you notice no gens are being done, but from the killers perspective 3 gens will pop at the same time ANY SECOND NOW, that constand time pressure/awareness leads to certain ways of playing.
So yeah following one survivor and just not getting the down they really should have gotten a while ago, the match is already pretty much gone, could just afk from that point in the basement or might aswell finish what they started and chase down that one survivor, camp them to death and thats that.

Oh I just go on that chase and lose the game.
Later I would get some pizza and a Coke, watch my recorded gameplay, and overanalyze the situation.
I practice exactly what that survivor did, and I play survivor, take other killers on a long run, get facecamped, and die.
That is why I keep going on the chase.
It also helps me as a killer too, as I realize M1 killers w no anti loop skill sucks.
That is why I go on these ridiculous chases.
Why? Does it annoy u?

I do it if that survivor is the last one I need for my 4 stack of BBQ.

If there's a survivor you can't catch you've already lost the match.
0 -
if you rly commit so long for one survivor than it should be
a) hes using every pallet fast so u create a death zones on your main gens or
b) you want to practice
0 -
if ive already lost ie: 2 gens gone before the first down i will just commits to end faster and get some experience
if they play like an #########: BT and DS abuse are the big ones
they have OoO
they have no mither and im playing as oni
they have a key
they have a flashlight on a susceptible killer like hag or wraith
this is what comes to might off the top of my head
