If all you play is pubs, then you shouldn't complain about balance.
If you're like 99.75% of dbd players, then you probably only play pubs, obviously because its a casual video game, it makes sense. We all know how pub games go, not the greatest players verse not the greatest players, most players you encounter can be easily won against if you just autopilot, probably because they are autopiloting too. Rarely, you will encounter a player that's outstandingly better than the usual pub bot there is. In this game, getting outplayed/losing hard feels mostly boring and frustrating if you're not actively looking to improve, so most players will start blaming the game's balance because they are losing to a better player. Thing is, the skill of the average dbd player is so low, that player that the player you versed that seemed so unbeatable, probably still has a lot to learn and is easily defeatable by a better player. So unless you're playing competitively in tourneys, you can win 100% of matches by simply being better. Sure, you can say that X game mechanic is boring, and you don't like it, the point of video games is to be fun after all. But you shouldn't complain about the game's balance because you lost. There's no imbalance at pub level of play, you can always win if you simply play better, no perk combo from the other side beats you if you are more skillful, the fact that you are not playing the best killer using the best addons and perks isn't the reason you lost, the fact that the killer is playing spirit with her best addons and a first hook mori doesn't prevent you from getting chased and staying alive for long enough to get a pip at least, even if you are solo queueing. My point is, if you lose, there's literally nothing to blame besides yourself for it, the better player always comes out on top at the end. If you are the better killer, than the survs, you will always 3k at the very least and maybe a hatch escape, if you are very good survivor even if solo queueing, you can almost always get at the very least a safe pip even if you get first hook moried.

Uhh, ngl I don't think getting beaten by a Ruin, Undying, Corrupt, Thrill spirit with an ebony shows that the other player was better. Just saying.

True, but you can stay alive for long enough to get a safe pip/+1 at least, even if you dont have a strong team.

Yeah, no, that's not how causal games work. This isn't Siege, it isn't Overwatch, it's Dead By Daylight. That means it gets balanced around the majority, not the minority, because it's a casual game that need to be fun more than fair.
Edit: Or, to look at it another way, people that play casual games competitively shouldn't talk about balance, since what is balanced for them will ruin everyone else's experience.

You see you're saying it's a public match game but the issue is it's not. It's forced ranked each game whether its survivor or killer. There is no "casual" mode. It is all ranked play.

having a colored circle with a number inside it barely means anything, it doesnt make the only gamemodes this game has competitive, nor does it make the matches hard whatsoever, the matches and players are still casual, even if theres a rank that mostly serves visual purposes.

I'm fine with game being unbalanced in one way or the other, since the game is assymetric.
I'm not fine when my opponent can get crushing advantage for nothing or use things I can't possibly defeat unless they let me win on purpose or when 90% of available characters/perks are utterly useless compared to the other 10% in high levels (red ranks, 1k+ hrs players games)

red ranks are not even close to being high level of play, tourneys and scrims between comp teams are high levels of play, not the average pub, also 1k+ hrs players are usually average at most.

Sure, you can have an opinion without being a pro player, but I find most players are quick to blame the game for their own shortcomings, that's what i'm trying to adress with this post. As for the length of the post, maybe I had a lot to say, but I summed it up the best I could.

Who the hell cares about pips? Your average casual player wants to enjoy the game and have a fair chance at escaping/sacrificing, so of course they’ll complain about stuff that feels unfun and unfair and lets someone who is not that good win much more easily. You don’t need to play on some comp squad to earn the right to complain about stuff that makes casual matches unbalanced.

You always have a fair chance at escaping/sacrificing though. If you just play killer well enough you will get sacrifices obviously, and if you are playing survivor with bad teammates you usually have a very good chance to find hatch.

Nonetheless even such levels reveal how weak are many killers and builds are, unless you have a few thousands of hours more experience than your opponent(s) and you both are sweating

In all seriousness, yes, I enjoy it, when it's fair. Losing because I'm being matched with rank 16 survivors isn't fair and doesn't make for an interesting trial.

Yeah, actual competitive tourneys are the only place where killer and perks used actually matter, the point of the post was that you can win all public matches by simply being the better player, no matter the strength of what you are using.

You can't really get downed by a bubba out of all the killers if you play well, he's mostly just an m1 killer with an instadown that can only be used if you severly mess up.

First of all, this isn't a competitive game like Overwatch or R6:Siege. It is not balanced that way and that is VERY clear.

I did, and to me, the chainsaw still seems useless in chases unless the survivor is deadzoned, or at short pallet loops, maybe I just haven't versed any good bubbas since his rework.

So if a casual player just gits gud, they have an equal chance of winning against a team of Balanced Landing users on Haddonfield as they do of winning against the exact same team on Shelter Woods?
When I say “a fair chance” I mean that their chances are not disproportionately affected by stuff they can’t control. Obviously there’s always gonna be a lot of RNG in this game and you can’t control your teammates or your opponent and their load out, but the point of casual players asking for balance is that they want the number of outliers reduced. You don’t have as fair a chance to escape against an ebony mori as you do against no mori, because moris are disproportionately powerful. Ormond is particularly unbalanced in favour of survivors, even if the killer plays well. And casual players have every right to raise their grievances with this stuff.

"people who play pubs" what else can we play? Everybody is equally entitled to a say in the game we all play. Regardless of if they are right or wrong.
So the likes of old Ruin, vs good survivors as you would put it. Ruin didn't really make a difference, as good survivors could push through it, and hit their greats. However vs you casual player who plays on their off time would just get rofl stomped by killers running Ruin, lest they get rid of the totem early.
Old Ruin goes to show, just because you aren't a great player doesn't mean you shouldn't be entitled to balance.

You realize the forced ranked system literally kills the casual player base right? it doesn't just "barely mean anything" I suppose you're the type of person who sweats it every game and ends up ruining the casual experience for others then having the audacity to call them bad.

If I am sweating, then I am looking for a challenge, which is hard to find in pubs anyways. Also in red ranks there's no casual players, sure, they might not be good at the game, but if you play enough to be red ranks, can you be considered a casual?

Yes you can, because I'm a casual player and yet I get forced into red ranks by a flawed and forced rank system in which I get nothing but people like yourself. There are a lot of killers I'm sure who are in the same boat as me. Getting to red ranks isn't a matter of skill, but rather a matter of time. You will reach red ranks as killer without trying. But hey, if I'm in red ranks that means I should have an opinion right? by your logic. However I'm a casual, so I shouldn't get an opinion, also based on your logic.

Well people seem to not understand my initial point. The point of the post was that no matter how strong the loadout the opposition brought into the match, you can always win by simply being better at the game than them, despite the fact that there could be a balance issue, it can be overcome with skill. I never said that complaints about gameplay being unenjoyable are irrelevant, the whole point of video games is having fun after all, the whole topic was supposed to be balance.

Might be a regional difference or a rank difference, since I tend to play pretty casually and thus usually hover at high green/low purple ranks on killer (on the rare occasions that I play killer on a regular basis).
However, I do reach red ranks as a survivor if I play somewhat regularly, and unless I'm going up against a super tryhard killer who absolutely demolishes everyone, the trials have been fairer as of late. I still get the occasional noob, which sucks for everyone, but those seem to be occurring with less frequency.

Actually, I know what the problem is: I play late at night, as in right now I'm playing some PH and it's 11.32pm my time and I just checked my opponents profiles and they're all friends but 1. When I play earlier in the day, it's way more chill.

It may be a myth, I personally don't know, since I don't play late at night, but i've been told more "sweaty" players play late at night.

If a so called competitive team plays to win you're not even gonna have a long chase considering that gens will be done in 2 minutes and that's nothing out of the ordinary even for pubs.
My question is: While you are playing an alleged tourment do you feel accomplished by getting a safe pip or not?

That could be it. I usually get 2-man SWF and 2 randoms, or 2+2 SWF, but rarely 3 or 4. Furthermore, I don't usually play late because that's when all the ultra-competitive people tend to play.
To be clear, there's nothing wrong with being a tryhard or competitive. However, since I tend to play casually, it's not for me. Playing at 100% is exhausting.

In pubs theres no surv good enough to be able to loop for all gens to get done fast if you play well, also, in tourneys, wins are usually counted by sacrifices/some made-up points which are measured each match. I used pips as a justification because they are much more appealing to most players.

I've done and witnessed 5 gen runs even outside kyf. Long chases are rare not because survivors are bad but because at red rank these days even the most unexperienced killer knows to drop a chase if it's taking too long.
Pips are appealing just to those streamers or biased players that pretend that survivors should be happy with a pip while killers MUST get at least 3k every game.
I got r1 more than 2 years ago i couldn't care less about getting a pip

Edit: bit of a standout trial, but still something I see on the regular. And I'm a PH, so I'm also being unfair.

Sweaty matches in kyf are not a ranked/competitive mode, especially as even choosing the same map can give you a massive deadzone or enough pallets to build a ski lodge with. Anything otherwise would need dev support which is unlikely to be forthcoming.

Yeah, its when people in a region have most/all of their friends available to SWF, and that drives killers up the wall and they break out the sweatpants, and then all the chill players have to keep up or die so they also put in headbands, and (to paraphrase myself from another post) it just becomes a clusterfuck of people that wouldn't normally be going so hardcore but kind of feel pressured to.

I think it's just that your point is flat out wrong. Its pretty ignorant even. There are many factors that go into winning a match and just saying "play better" doesn't reflect any of that. Not to mention many have a different opinion on what a win condition even is.
