Broken keys are useful

so Im using up all my items before I prestige my character and in a game with a broken key I talked to the killer afterwords

apparently when he saw the key I had it made him a little flustered mistakes happened and what WAS a losing game turned into a 4 man escape

addons aside because I forgot I had the damn thing the broken key has decent uses. if nothing else it makes them try just a little bit harder which can be fun

My buddy has started bringing green keys a lot just to mess with the killer. We see Franklins a lot more and they'll even guard it sometimes. It's pretty funny actually as some killers have even thrown the game over it.

We also see a lot more mori's but ehh.

I like broken keys as an “in lieu of” Bond, with either a Token or the Unique Wedding Ring.

The only problem is that in the lobby all the killer sees is a key, thus can only think about me cheesing the hatch, so I’ll always play more stealthy with a broken key so I’m not tunnelled to death.

I’d use broken keys more but every time I try the killer just runs a mori and moris me off first hook. I get why but it’s just not very fun so I’l stick with a medkit.

moris suck and are often found as a result

but maybe we can all consider it "a test of skill" like.... if they see the key and plan to mori you instantly then escape just feels that much better it feels like youve grown and improved enough to be actively capable

and if not then more improvements to be made

dont get me wrong I play killer too and it is a PAAAAAIN when they key away but such is life and if I learn to play better then its less of a problem and Ill feel more accomplished if I kill a key team without playing scummy same as listed above for survivor

its a good feeling and I want others to feel it too

Broken key with blood amber + duration addons is one of the most powerful things you can bring as a survivor

They're fun to try and get the killer to being Franklin's

I'd use them more but I think my teammates will assume theyre purple or pink and stop playing even more than they already do. I get keys could be bad with a SWF but as a solo survivor, they do a lot more damage than good for me. Can't tell you how many games I've been abandoned with no chance to get out, or had a teammate loot a key and then just stop playing and wait for us all to die so they can get hatch. I love seeing killers scream on the forum about how unfair they are.

They need to differentiate broken keys from actual keys that can open the hatch, as killers will play in a way that is nastier and less fun for both sides if they see one, only to look at the post game screen and see that it was a broken key and it could've been avoidable.
