How do you learn new killers?

I'm usually at rank 5 (10 after reset) and everyone I try to learn a new killer I get extremely bodied every game. Doesn't help that even though my killer rank is 10 I go against red ranks. If I want anything higher than an entity displeased I have to sweat so hard. How do you guys do it?

Kinda wish there was a bot option in custom game. Like start out with easy level bots. When you feel good about the killer, go to medium, hard, ECT. Theeen go to public lobbies

Well, just play the game. What I do:

I level a new Killer to Level 50 before I play some games and use the good BP-Offerings (if I have BBQ, I use the 100% Offerings, if not, I just prestige). If I am at P3-50, I check if I have a decent Build. If yes, I will play the Killer. If not, I will play other Killers to get the BPs to level that one Killer.

Like, I will not play a game with a Level 10-Killer or something like that, I want to be as prepared as possible. (Ofcourse, if you do not prestige, you can just go to Level 50 and get some Perks)

Also, what is important - dont get upset if you lose with a new Killer. You cannot expect to be good right at the start, so you should not get upset if you lose quite a bunch of games at the start.

As everyone has already said, through pain and anguish and getting hardcore bullied. There is no practice mode, so all you can do is go get wrecked til you've got the hang of it.

you pick the killer, you expect to lose from the very start and then you just go at it.

you'll be losing a lot, but once you get the hang of it you can see yourself improving more and more.

and if its a 115% mms killer you can always just fall back to "normal" killergameplay if you cant handle their power yet, which makes them easier than their 110% mms collegues.

By losing a lot of matches, you most likely won't win the first match with a new killer until you find how to play as them.

Play the game, because that's the only way you can. I usually try to at least get BBQ on a killer before I play them, otherwise there's no point to playing them. I've only really had trouble playing Huntress, Blight and maybe Deathslinger for the first time. The rest of the killers are pretty easy and intuitive to play, you'll get the hang of them after a few games just keep at it.

"School of hard knocks" this is the creed of all multiplayer games. It's not pleasant, and often infuriating, but as long as you stick to it and do your best to adapt and power through all the BS until you get decent, you'll have fun again. Killers are difficult to get used to, but also highly rewarding, and the survivors know how vicious decent/pro players are with them, so when they encounter an inexperienced Killer and have an Easy time for once against them, they tend to gloat. Again, this is infuriating, but it's all part of the multiplayer experience, so try not to take any of their bullying or insults too seriously, because if you just persevere, you're gonna get good with the killers you play, and they're gonna fear going up against you.

Up until then it's as I've said... "school of hard knocks" just take each loss as a learning experience, and adapt as best you can. Once you get decent, it'll feel well earned and you'll forget about posting this on the forums as it won't even matter anymore.

For years the DBD community has asked for a practice mode, but the devs have no interest in creating one. Hell they won't even let you create a custom match by yourself against bots. The only choice you have is to literally get stomped over and over until you get marginally better. Is it any wonder why new players don't stick around?

If it's at rank 1, go in with the mindset that you want to improve every game regardless of the amount of kills you end up with.

Just go into the first 10 to X games with a new killer knowing you are going probably have everyone escape. Focus on trying to learn some element of the killer every game and don't even focus on how good the survivors are.

It doesn't matter how good they are doing in your learning game. Just pickup the timing of abilities and movement of that killer. Who cares what those survivors thing. heck, They will probably leave the game thinking they are the best thing ever, and so what. You know your just practicing and whatever they think does not matter at all.

I've gone into plenty of matches with huntress just to practice long distance throwing. Never bother hooking a down survivor when I manage to hit once twice. Just let the others pick him up and get back to what I'm doing. Ignore the game state when you are learning. THis is a mental exercise more then anything.

Chase perks, NOED, and Mori's. Don't give out any free wins while you are learning

What killer are you trying rn? Most killers are just practice but some require knowledge of loops/infinites and some cases perks.

Ask forums for tips on specific killers.

Almost everybody on this forum wants you to get better and will help discuss pros and cons to any killer you wish to learn.

Looking up videos of pros using said killer.

Spend bp first on said killer, don't go into any match unprepared.

Just play them, take a look at their addons, then play them again, take another look at the addons.

Then take a look at the perks you have on them, then try to use things you think will help.

    Repeat and continue.

KYF matches mostly, even if it's just with one other player...I've even had open KYF matches where my friend is just AFK and I've spent an hour or two learning the killer that way.
