is it even possible to finish the rift in time?
killer queues are instant, but there are a ton of survivor challenges. I wait around 10 - 12 minutes to find a match at red ranks. Then half the time someone disconnects or suicides on the first hook, so the game is totally over.

it is possible you just have to keep at it, I may or may not make it to the end myself but I've made it over half way at this point.

yeah, its easy.
just play 25 hours a day and you'll be done in time ^^

If you play enough of both sides/are willing to pay to complete definitely.
My advice? Don't worry about it.
Don't let the stupid charms and cosmetics on the Rift be your reason to play DbD. There's nothing on any Rift really worth stressing over, just play the game and have fun.

The Legion cosmetic IS slick though.

I mean I'm personally not that big a fan, but I don't think any cosmetic is worth losing sleep over.
IMO the Rift should be a fun bonus for playing the game, not the reason to play.
Obviously I can't force anyone to do anything; so play how you want. That's just my two cents.

If you don't do the challenges and don't play hours per day, it's gonna be rough.
You need 690 Rift Fragments (RF) to complete a Rift.
Every 800 XP is 1 RF, and 10 RFs are needed to go up a Rift Level.
For easy calculations, let's say you earn 400 XP on average per Trial.
You'd need to play 20 trials per day every day to complete the Rift on the very last day.
It's a time sink in that manner, and the challenges definitely remove a great deal of the amount of trials required.
But completing all of those will also take quite a bit.
Having DbD as your main game to play is pretty much required if you don't want to pay for Rift Levels.

About 3-4 hours a day levels me up 2-3 tiers on the rift, so at this rate I’m more than cutting the allotted 70 days in half to finish in plenty of time.
I usually finish rifts with about 17 days remaining.
Also, after the current rift opened, I took a week off from playing DBD, so there’s some positive reinforcement for anyone who is doubting the possibilities of rift completion.

I really don't understand how this thread gets made every single time a new rift happens.
I have:
- A full time job (10 hours a day)
- A Toddler
- A new baby on the way
- Other non-game related hobbies
- Other games i play with friends
I still complete the rift every single time, and usually with a few weeks to spare.
Everyone going around and being like "TO COMPLETE THE RIFT YOU HAVE TO PLAY FOR HUNDREDS OF HOURS" aren't taking certain things into account. Which are:
- You have 70 days and 70 levels to complete the rift.
- You need 10 shards for a level
- You need 700 shards to finish the rift.
- The rift challenges give you 3 or 5 shards
- Completing a level gives you 10 shards.
- Each game you play generally gives you 85% of a a shard, (at least in my experience it does, maybe someone has exact numbers on this can can let me know so we can do the math better).
This means, that if you only take into account the number of GAMES necessary, you need 823 games played to do the challenges, which at about 8 minutes per game is 109 hours. Which requires you to play the game for ~1.5 hours a day. Lets say some days have long queue times, or w/e and make it a nice 2 hours a day.
Now, let's factor in the challenges. Looking at the wiki here: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Rift_Fragments and see how many shards each tome gives in challenges:
- Tome I: 340 shards
- Tome II: 393 shards
- Tome III: 405 shards
- Tome IV: 358 shards
I'm not going to factor in the current tome as it hasn't been officially completely released yet but i'm sure the normal leaks are correct. This is an average of 374 shards. Now, lets say you can't complete some of the challenges because they are hard, or you are missing the characters or whatever it might be, and say you can only complete 300 shards worth of challenges. This is the equivalent of you missing out on ~24 3 shard challenges, or ~15 5 shard challenges.
So, if you are able to complete 300 shards worth of challenges. This needs you still need 400 shards, which going by the above numbers, means you need to play 471 games in order to get the 400 shards. This now brings it down to 62.8 hours, which is 54 minutes a day. Now, again, lets say some days you can't play, or some days you have long queues. You are now look at about 1-1.5 hours a day of playtime in order to complete the rift.
This means for 70 days, you need to play on average 1 hour a day to complete the rift (which i will now refer to as a battle pass for comparison).
Compare this to ANY other game that has a battlepass:
- COD
- DotA 2
- CS:GO
- VALORANT
- PUBG
- Fortnite
- The list goes on
There is not a single game i can think of, other than maybe Fall Guys, that has a more fair battle pass for consumers. This doesn't even factor in the fact that if you can complete the rift, you are given the same amount of premium currency you used in order to BUY THE PREMIUM RIFT. This means completing the rift makes it effectively FREE for you. Or, if you CAN'T complete the rift, you are given some premium currency and your next rift will be effectively discounted. I personally have only ever paid for the 1st rift, every other one i have paid for with the free currency i got from the rift before it.
Some of those other games also require about 2-3 hours a day of play. But often times they also have challenges that can make it go faster. But those challenges are often on a daily or weekly timer. Which means you actually HAVE to login every day. With DBD, as long as you can make 1-2 hours a day on average for 70 days, you can complete the rift. This means if you can't play for a week, but have a long weekend or a holiday, you can binge it for the whole day if you want to, and make up a week or 2 in the span of a weekend very easily.
