I’m pretty sure they’re referencing the post they made about how they’re going to dial down on events other than the Halloween and anniversary events. And the post also stated that they were going to do daily rewards for the whole month of December. Most likely instead of any Christmas lights/event this year. Which sucks. I remember over a year ago they said to us “we don’t have to do any events if we don’t want to, it’s a privilege that you get anything at all” something like that, and ever since that it was like a big ol middle finger to them and to everybody. It’s like well we also don’t have to play your game and give you money to be able to afford your house now do we?
we aren’t asking for a lot. Just something.

why would it be a problem to activate the Christmas lobby and hooks?

It really isn't that difficult to enable lights on lockers and hooks. Responss to the commubity like that just reek of disrespest and more/less superiority if not power tripping because they designed a game people pay money for.

To be fair to BHVR, it's not as easy as that.
DbD has undergone an engine change, they've updated locker models, and they've added new hook models for new maps.
They'd have to tweak a lot to do something as 'simple' as just swapping them out for default hooks and old lockers wrapped in lights. Even assuming those assets are still available to them.
That said, doing nothing but login rewards (which is nice to get, but not very fun or exciting) for the holidays is definitely a huge step down and very disappointing.

well I understand that, but this isn’t a game where they finished it and all they do is bug fixes and patches now. They literally make new dlc with new features in the game (breakables walls, etc, etc.). So working on the game a lot is nothing new. The way I see it, is that a Christmas event with Christmas lights, Christmas decorations, cool Christmas themed game (maybe even snow falling on every map), is not locked behind a paywall, unlike everything else they work on. So it’s not important to them

The announcement said we would continue to see "themed assets" so would think that means we would get lights on hooks/gens/lockers.
