Hag & make ur choice...

Hag with make ur choice and traps that u can teleport to is the most dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Everytime someone gets rescued from the hook the hag teleported back to the hook and hits the person performing the unhook.

And because make ur choice leaves u exposed, everyone kept getting downed.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It literally felt like a waste of time. Like we were there just to give hag points.

Whats the counter to that? Can anyone asnwere me that? Or is this absolutly broken?

Am I suppose pray to the dbd gods and hope I find a flashlight in a chest? Am I suppose to leave my teammates on the hook or are we just all trading hooks?

I get it but its a perk core and a killers ability your can't change one or the other. Its a combo that won't be changed or maybe you could just crouch to the hook and unhook him the only thing you would have to worry about at that point is Rusty Shackles and your teammate screwing you over.

I usually run over her traps beforehand so that she needs to draw them again, and then make your choice won't work because she's there! It's the only big brain move I can think of other than having a flashlight on hand lol

Hag could probably have the Exec treatment applied. He cannot leave trails around hooks or generators. I think it’d be a good change as she is one of the hook camping champs as you’re seeing and I do not care for the mechanic either.

We were all crouching. I didnt see what add ons she had but I crouched over the trap and unhooked and then she teleported as soon as I unhooked. I dont get it tho. How do I counter that? Hope I find a flashlight in a chest? Hope that she tunnels my teammate getting off the hook so she can get ds? I can't run away after performing the unhook. Am I hoping she just misses the swing after teleporting??

it was most likely Mint Rag or Rusty Shackles. In honesty the only way to counter this is to play the mix up grab the survivor off the hook and run while she is distracted with two targets get to the next pallet or loop quickly. Other than that I'm sorry their is no counter play.

I wouldn't be against it as an off main Hag. I don't like killers who camp as a survivor, and camping a hook as any killer is pretty boring even if you can just teleport back to it.

That being said, I do love the MYC + Mint Rag combo. It's incredibly fun but also incredibly risky for the Hag player. One wrong move and suddenly you're across the map on a 15 second cooldown :(

This was a rank 1 hag and had "the snake charmer" hag skin so this person is a very good seasoned player. It felt un counterable because even if I pop her traps, she would come back. I mean it would make sense to come back and trap it. Its wasting hook time and it helps her get an easy 1 shot down once the unhook is performed. I also have to mention she had Ruin in Lerys map. We never found ruin and the match went down hill quickly early on. We only got 1 gen done. Btw I was playing as a solo so I didn't have a team I could communicate with.

I made a post about this build a month or two ago. In my honest opinion, you need flashlights to beat this build. Like you said, it doesn't matter if you crouch or not, you're going down after the unhook guaranteed. So the only way to counter it is to destroy the trap so Hag can't teleport. If you don't have at least one flashlight, I don't see how you can win.

This is assuming SWF too. It's almost impossible to beat this build without comms.

I'd like to add: one strategy you could try is 2-man saves. One person eats the MYC and one bodyblocks. No way you'll pull this off in solo queue, but SWF could probably do this if they're good.

So run around like a chicken with its head cut off and not do any gens and not look for ruin? I mean this is so dumb to me. Its def hard as a solo queue.

Sounds like she used Mint Rag which allows her to teleport at will to any trap, triggered or not.

Counterplay to this would be to unhook quickly and don’t worry about triggering the trap. This is because that add-on has a cooldown between teleports. (I forget how long, but it’s significant, like 45 seconds or something.)

The best thing you can do against Ruin if you don't want to search for the totem is to finish the gen. It takes 60 seconds to move from Stage 1 to Stage 2, and another 60 seconds to go from Stage 2 to Stage 3. It takes 80 seconds to complete a generator from zero. If you're already on a generator, finish it before going for the save and ruin does not exist.

(and yes, that invalidates the entire Undying/Ruin meta, outside of the fact they can see your aura if you run past a totem.)

Generally you have an idea on where the Hag's "nest" is because it's the area she's in. If you're the survivor going for the save, run around and pop as many traps as you can. You're not going to get all of them, but she'll have to redo her traps and that takes time.

Most Hags will hook a survivor, then draw a trap under the hook. Again, keep in mind you have 60 seconds to complete the save. What you do is run up on the Hag as soon as she puts the trap down to pop it. If she's using Make your choice, she wants to get away from the hook. She's also really slow. Just be aggressive on unhooks and deny her perk once you realize she's running it.

Is it practical to do every match and every save? Not really, but survivors need to remember the killer is yours to control. It's like a yappy dog that bites. Put it on a leash and lead it around, but don't let it bite you.

Only 15 seconds actually. Not enough time to play around the cooldown really.

Also the cooldown only effects her self teleport; not ones that get triggered.

So if you trigger the trap she can jump to it even if she just manually teleported somewhere.

The only way about this is to leave the guy on hook and slam gens, and hope you slam the correct gens or else you may have screwed yourselves even more. Or get lucky with a flashlight in a chest. Mint rag is a disgustingly broken add-on with this combo of perks that shouldn't be in the game (I was gonna say I'm surprised that it's still in the game, but so are iri head, moris, exhaustion add-ons and keys in their current state so it's not really a surprise with BHVR anymore is it?) Even if she wasn't using mint rag it would've still been nearly impossible to save properly, make your choice is so dumb on Hag

Vs normal traps either crouch over them or pop them and run away forcing the hag to replace them

Vs mint rag wait untill the very last second to unhook and try to cycle the hooks between all survivors.

That said in solo where the team isn't coordinated this is extremly hard to pull off

Just going to pop in and say that, if MYC was triggered less than a minute ago, that's a window to unhook someone, since it can't retrigger yet.

Not that it's ideal since you need to have this danger active to find this opportunity, but others already posted their own stuff.

Yeah Hag needs a minimum safe distance for trap placements.

Did someone just say Hag was even the least bit viable as a Killer 🤣

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

Hags viable against good players, just not SWF. Too easy to run to the nearest loops when your buddy says shes at the other end of the map and waste her setup.

    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

The problem is most players just run around with her and drop a trap at a loop instead of setting up a nest. Or they get sucked into the idea of just defending the basement. There's some godly hags out there. Just few and far inbetween, and shes kinda boring to play so no one wants to learn her.

Don't trigger traps or hide if you do

  • You can just crouch up to the hook

You can trigger and take the normal hit instead for the unhook

You can take borrowed time and hope they take the hit for you

    There are options

Yeah it doesnt make sense to me why she doesn't have that. It wouldn't hurt good players as they wouldnt waste their traps there but it would help lessen the hate she gets from low ranks.

Hag is just disgusting. We should delete her lol

I've faced one like this the other week. The thing is... you will have to trigger the trap and wait for either she teleport to it or the timer expires and she can't use it anymore and then do the save.

Besides that, the counter play is gen rush. That's how ridiculous it gets.

We got 3 escapes when against a hag like that doing that and I thank god I brought a purple box with brand new parts to rush the last gen, because the Hag burnt the Saloon to use her ruin/undying and we never even care looking for them.

I think it’s fine, there’s a lot of counter play around it.

Hag is extremely strong against the vast majority of survivor teams. She has a couple of weaknesses but they’re not a problem in like 90% of the matches you’re gonna play.
