One of the Reasons DBD is a flawed game PT1

I love Dead by Daylight. Though it is a love hate relationship. So I plan on making more of these later, but this is part one on why Dead by Daylight is a flawed game.

Today's topic: Old Killers and Old Perks

So this issue mainly relies on certain killers. Specifically Trapper, Wraith, Huntress, and Doctor. Sure killers like Clown and perks like Cruel Limits and Blood Favor are recent examples of bad perks, but they aren't outdated, they just don't work. So let's dive into my first topic,

Trapper: The iconic Dead by Daylight killer also happens to be one of the worst. His power is outdated, we all know this. When there were less killers, it was fine, but since we now have killers with multiple abilities with their power, he falls flat. His power has no connection with his lore, his power is boring, and his perks are outdated.

His power was good to provide a territorial variation to the first 3 killers (Trapper, Wraith, Billy), but now is really outclassed by killers like Hag. In the right hands, yes he can be deadly, but his power is boring. I think it would be awesome if he had different traps, or different types of bear traps. But that's just a suggestion. Also his powers name needs a change. It sounds small, but the power is called "Bear Traps" and while duh, he uses bear traps, thats like Myers ability being called "Stare Instensely." Overall, his power needs a modernization.

Now his perks are a mixed bag. Brutal Strength was fine, because when the game had limited characters, pallets were an issue, and we didn't have many perks to counter them. But now, we have Spirit Fury, Demogorgon can break them with his shred, Oni can break them with his Demon Strike, and overall, pallets aren't too much of an issue. Some builds can profit from Brutal Strength, but overall, it needs a rework. Unnerving Presence is trash. No one misses skill checks anymore, and this perk is only used for meme builds. There isn't a single killer that actively gains from this, because the power is in the survivors hands. The perk relies on the survivors skill, which shouldn't be a thing (this will be brought up later when we talk about overcharge). I have no clue how this could be reworked, but it does need a rework. Agitation is... okay. I personally don't run it in my builds, but I see why some people do. I honestly think it's fine the way it is, however a rework wouldn't be terrible.

Ok, onto the next killer

Wraith:

Wraith was and still is a pretty cool killer. He is the only killer to actively go invisible (kinda), and was pretty cool, because it let players who wanted to have a stealth option play stealthy. However now he is just outclassed by Ghost Face and I'd argue Pig. His power has the same issue as Trapper, it's boring. Survivors can see you a mile away, they have plenty of time to Sprint Burst or vault or drop a pallet when the see you unblocking. Even with addons, he still isn't good. My suggestion is that Wraith is purely invisible. No blur, just invisible. This would actively make the game more scary, and would make survivors panic, making you able to get a hit. Also the flashlight bullying is really common when playing wraith. I like the idea of it, but please do something about the bullying.

His perks are all bad. Anyone who says Shadowborn on Nurse is good is lying. Shadow Born should be a setting, a POV change should be an adjustable thing you a can use to see how you like to play, not a perkslot. Bloodhound is garbage, there's no point in running it, just run better info perks like Nurses or BBQ. Predator hurts you more than it helps you. It makes scratch marks harder to see by keeping them in more a straight line thats harder to see. They all need a rework.

Huntress:

Her power is fine, her add ons need changes. The Huntress in general is ok, its her perks I have a bone to pick with.

Beast of Prey is pointless now that bloodlust may be removed, also the fact that the undetectable status does nothing in chase when you are a tall killer. Territorial Imperative was supposed to be a basement perk, so you had a reason to hook people in the basement. Now its bad, (tho it is fun for a basement camping Demo build) and outdated. In my opinion, basement related perks should be removed, because there is no reason to run a perk you will probably not use for the whole game. Lullaby is an okay perk. I will admit that this perk does make me miss skill checks. This perk could use a few changes, but overall is a good hex.

Doctor:

Same with Huntress. I have nothing against Doctor and his power is fine.

His perks are very outdated however. Moniter and Abuse is fine. In fact it's one of my favorite perks. Overcharge was good, because survivors weren't used to hitting skill checks that small, but now is outdated, because everyone has gotten used to hitting the skill checks. Overwhelming Presence is not good. It was made because no perk countered items, and it was new. But now its kind of pointless, because if someone sees that you are running it, they aren't going to use their item. No one will heal inside your terror radius anyways, because of Nurses. So overall the perk is pointless.

So, for a TL;DR, BHVR should rework these older killers and perks. Anyway, that's my speel. I will probably add more parts, but for now, as always, Happy Gaming!
