This is a licensed chapter idea from the game Dont Starve (Together) by Klei Entertainment. Original killer idea by Mooks

Map: The constant. A realm with a swamp biome, a forest biome, a desert biome, and a grasslands biome, all patchworked together in an unnatural manner

Killer: The Shadow

Killer name: Charlie (last name unknown)

Description: A pale lady with a black dress and hair that move like pitch black flame. When shadow cloak is on, these flames move more and her eyes glow red

Speed: 4.4 meters/second

Terror radius: 32 meters

Height: Medium

Mori: The background becomes completely black, and the killer steps back into the shadows. Several glowing eyes start to appear in the darkness. Then a shadow claw flies out of the darkness griping the top of the survivors head, lifting them into the air. A 2nd shadow claw impales the survivor through the abdomen. The first claw then snaps the neck of the survivor before they are dropped back onto the ground

-------------------------------------------------------

~Power: Queen of Shadows~

-Active power: Shadow claw-

The killer becomes immobile to send out a shadow claw that they control. The power ends and fatigues the killer for 3 seconds if the shadow claw travels 24 meters, collides with anything or if a survivor sprints into the killer. If the shadow claw collides with a light source, the light source is extinguished. If the shadow hand collides with a survivor who is not holding a torch, they suffer from exposed for 30 seconds

-Alt power: shadow cloak-

The killer can toggle shadow cloak on and off with the alt ability button. When shadow cloak is on, the killer flickers in and out of visibility, the terror radius is reduced by 8 meters and survivors within the terror radius are afflicted with the darkness and oblivious status effects

Darkness: Survivors with the darkness status effect have a darkness filter added to their vision, can not see the killers red stain, and suffer from aura blindness and hindered (10%)

Light sources: The killer can not enter a light radius while shadow cloak is active. Survivors within a light radius are immune from the darkness status effect. There are several bonfires around the map that can be lit by intaracting with them for at least 12 seconds. Bonfires produce a 16 meter light radius that goes down and eventually goes out over 45 seconds. The survivor that lit the bonfire is provided with a 6 meter light radius torch in their off hand that lasts 30 seconds. Generators produce a light radius based on progression

-Powers notes-

Shadow cloak notes: Toggling shadow cloak immobilizes the killer for 3 seconds. Hitting A survivor with a basic attack turns off shadow cloak. Flashlights can lightburn the killer out of shadow cloak, stunning her for 3 seconds. The oblivious status effect serves to make the killer more difficult to track when within the terror radius but the darkness status effect will still alert survivors to the killers presence. Survivors within a light radius will be unaware of the killers presence due to oblivious, but because the killer can not enter the light radius, they just have to keep an eye out for the shadow claw. Survivors can hear a hissing sound when the killer is within 6 meters that grows louder as the killer gets closer

Shadow claw notes: The shadow hand moves at 3.6 meters/second if traveling through a light radius, otherwise it moves at 4.4 meters/second. The power can be cancelled with the power button, avoiding the fatigue. Generator lights that have been extinguished re-light after 30 seconds. The shadow claws arm trails after it, giving survivors a trail to help pinpoint the killers location. The killer can only control the shadow claws horizontal movement. Shadow claw goes over dropped pallets and windows, but if a pallet is dropped on it or hits a locker (even with a survivor inside) it will dissipate

Darkness notes: Survivors will know when the killer is near because of the darkness status effect unless they are within a light radius. This means that within a light radius, the killer can not approach but the survivors will be unaware of them unless they see a shadow claw approach or the killer turns off shadow cloak. Turning off shadow cloak will immediately make the terror radius audible, so the survivors can flee during the 3 second stun time. The combination of the darkness filter and killer flickering makes the killer very difficult to see

Light source notes: The killer and survivors can see white light radius circles on the ground. When lighting a bonfire, a skill check will happen every 4 seconds and failed skill checks increase the time by 4 seconds. The bonfire has a minimum light radius fades from 16 meters to 8 meters for the first 30 seconds, and remains at 8 meters for the last 15 seconds. Only one survivor can work on lighting the bonfire. A lit bonfire can be interacted with when in the last 15 seconds before extinguishing to relight it, but failed skill checks extinguish the light. Generators light source boosts at certain intervals. 25%+ = 8 meters, 50%+ = 12 meters, 75%+ =16 meters, and completed generators = 20 meters. When a light source expands, moves or re-lights after being extinguished, if the killer is within the new light radius and has shadow cloak on, shadow cloak is forced to turn off, stunning the killer for 3 seconds

-------------------------------------------------------

~Perks~

Forgotten knowledge: when the killer comes within he killer comes within 8/12/16 meters of a dull totem or chest, the killer can see the items aura for the rest of the trial

Florid postern: When you destroy a breakable wall, you gain a portal token. Once you have 5/4/3 portal tokens, the next wall you break will consume the portal tokens and transport you to the center of the map

Trans-dimentional traveler: The killer can see the auras in white of closed hatches, unpowered exit gate switches or objects blocked by the entity within 12/16/20 meters

-------------------------------------------------------

Survivor 1: Wendy

Description: A young adult female with blond hair. She is rather frail but makes up for it by having a connection with her dead sisters ghost, Abigail, who comes to her aid when needed

~Perks~

Protective phantom: Decreases your chances of being the obsession. There is an obsession in the match. Once the obsession is killed by any means, you become the obsession and protective phantom activates. When you are struck by a basic attack, you become broken for 60/45/30 seconds the killer is aura blind and has their vision impaired by a ghostly figure for 3 seconds for each dead survivor

Sentimental flower: Stunning the entity gives you one petal token. Once you have 8/7/6 petal tokens, the next time you unhook a survivor, they are healed to healthy. This can only be done once per match

Weakness is strength: When stunning a killer with a pallet, they are stunned for 30%/25%/20% less time. Pallets you drop take 20%/30%/40% longer to

break

-------------------------------------------------------

Survivor 2: Webber

Description: A humanoid spider with multiple eyes, spider legs coming off of his face, black hairs covering his body and multiple white eyes

~Perks~

Monster appetite: Stunning the killer 5/4/3 times in a single chase will cause the killer to drop an item called "monster meat" that disappears after 80/100/120 seconds. The monster meat is only usable by survivors with the monster appetite perk and each survivor can only use one per trial. Using monster meat takes 5 seconds and heals the survivor to healthy with no skillchecks

Reactive webbing. When you are grabbed or injured while repairing a generator, that generator becomes webbed. Webbing is subtly visible to killers and survivors. Only 1 generator can be webbed at a time. If a survivor repairs a webbed generator, it loses its webbed status. When the killer kicks a webbed generator, they are slowed by .2 meters/second for 10/15/20 seconds

Spider affinity: Pressing the interact button on a generator, window or pallet that is blocked by the entity allows the survivor to interact with that object as normal. This causes the survivor to become exhausted for 60/50/40 seconds. Survivors can not use spider affinity while exhausted

First of all: Love it! But I got some questions.

Darkness: Why make Darkness a status effect? I though the filter would work just by being in the terror radius and survivors would suffer from the Oblivious status effect. Maybe additional status effects like hindered or exhausted with addons.

Shadow Claw: How would it go through vaults (I imagine vaults wouldn’t affect the claw at all?) and what happens if the claw gets hit by a pallet. Also interaction with survs in a locker? (Especially after the fiasco with Victor...)

Light sources: Not fully repaired gens of light sources felt weird, because that’s where survivors wanna be anyway to complete their objective. Having to decide to go to the safe place OR the objective would fit better I think. Maybe make the lightsource of not completed gens flickering on and off?

Survivors: You took the two children and I love those characters very much and they do have some kind of synergy in DST lore.. but I would rather see Wickerbottom tbh (perks revolving around her knowledge/books and insomnia). Also Webber as a survivor would feel very weird 🕷 I do like the Spider Affinity and Monster Meat perks though!

The point of making darkness a status effect was so that i could easily make certain aspects of shadow cloak not affect survivors within the light radius while other aspects still would without making it too wordy.

Shadow claw would go over pallets and windows, but if it collided with a pallet being dropped it would dissipate. And lockers would be a way to get away from shadow claw as well, but because of the range and other killer abilities, it wouldn't be as impactful as it is with the twins. I'll add the clarification.

I understand that it may seem "safe" when survivors are repairing a generator, but if you think about it, its still a vulnerable situation because you won't get the darkness filter, meaning you won't know if the darkness is lurking just outside the terror radius. So when you're working on a gen the killer can still come up if they turn off shadow cloak, or you have to watch out for a shadow claw which could turn off the lights or give you exposed, either of which would leave you very vulnerable. Plus, the light radius is non-existent before 25% and its very small for a while after that.

Hmmm, I didntbrealize those 2 were children, maybe they weren't the best picks. I just had the perk ideas so i ran with it. If you have some ideas for wicker bottom i would happily include them. I could see a book of birds perk that affects ravens in some way. That would be pretty cool.

Perk - book of birds: extra ravens appear in the trial. When the killer disturbs a bird, you are notified if they are more than 48/40/32 meters away. (Can survivors get spies from the shadows? Idk, I'm a killer main)

I can totally see your points!

well, the reason I didn’t make a survivor concept was that I couldn’t think of something better than that Jake perk... I think your peel ideas for Webber and Wendy fit very well though, and the Entity also grabbed Nancy and Steve when they were older than in the Show!

Thanks, I forgot that they can be abducted outside of the source material, perfect option. And I know Webber would feel weird, asthetic wise, but i think he would look really cool and the first non-human survivor would be a cool change of pace

Webber would make any Blendette feel like a bright neon advertising board 😂

I'd love the idea of a don't starve chapter.

I think he'd have to have bright colored clothing and glowing eyes to compensate

Added shadow claw clarification for lockers, windows, and pallets

I think for survivors the better option will be Wilson and Willow, then legendary cosmetics would come in.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind them at all. I just had better perk ideas for Wendy and Webber. But NOW I wanna include Walter, he is awesome and Wobi is #1 best boi
