Killer concept: The Dogface

Intro: It's been awhile since I've done a Killer concept. I've felt making this one for old times sake, however this one is quite special. A fun fact I'll share is that I love urban legends, ghost stories, or hearing different kinds of cryptids. While I was looking through I found an interesting Ghost story about Indiana, it was called Dogface Bridge. While I heard the tale I just couldn't help but shake that story off me, so I decided I should probably make a killer concept of the ghost and share a very chilling legend. So lets begin:

Art by HyperResis

Lore: In the 1950s there was couple named Sarah and John Arlington ( These aren't the real names,) were driving down the road in San Pierre Indiana. The couple were having their honeymoon when driving over a bridge above the Kankakee River. Suddenly a dog walked out in front of them and got car wrecked, which caused the driver to drive off the bridge and into the river. The next day the car was found, but there were no bodies to be found, they searched for the couple only to find the wife's head, and the dogs body. However some say they didn't find anything, and just wrote it off. But what was known was the haunting that came, folk tales tell of seeing a woman in a muddy, bloody dress, with a dogs rotting, and blood covered head, on the bridge eating something supposedly flesh. Those who see her will be chased by her, if she catches she'll kill you and eat you. Now some have claimed to hear footsteps, and eerie howls in the night, gunshots, because of this very few brave souls dare to step onto the bridge, that now is forevermore known as, Dogface Bridge.

Summary: A supernatural killer, able to shape between a feral physical form or a silent poltergeist with her power Feral poltergeist. Her personal perks, Drowned agony, Hex: Blood paid Love, and Carnal Urges, allow her to Break her prey, unleash cannibalistic violence, and cripple the bonds of Survivors.

Power: Feral Poltergiest: Sarah Arlington was once a loveable woman in life , But now in death all that remains of her, is the hate, and anger that manifests both physically and spiritually. The Dogface has two forms, the Poltergeist form, and the Living form. At the start of the trial the Dogface will start as a Poltergeist, while in this form, she lacks a terror radius, and noise, but is agile in speed. However she cannot attack, survivors, but she can use pallets to stun a survivor temporarily and will harm them in the process. However there are Spirit holes that are only visible to the killer. By interacting with the Hole the Dogface will enter the living world, and goes into her Living form , while in this form she can now be seen, and can hurt survivors.

Secondary power: Beastful Sense: Now in death, Sarah is forever bound to the dog that died, becoming one with it, she has became a savage beast yet granting her animal like abilities. While in the Living form, Hold down the special ability button(M2), The Dogface will then be able to sniff out and track survivors through their scents, and auras of blood pools are revealed to her, and if she attacks while holding down the ability button she will charge at the survivor on all fours and chomp at the survivor causing the broken status effect, if missed The dogface will be momentarily exhausted.

Perks:

Drowned Agony: Let their cries for help be futile, if a survivor is put into the dying state, their grunts of pain are silenced, recovery speed takes 15/20/25% longer, and they suffer from broken status effect when unhooked for 60/75/90 seconds.

Carnal Urges: Your lust for blood drives you, when stunned by a pallet is activates for 40/50/60 seconds, your next hits will cause the Oblivious, and the Mangled status effect for 50/60/70 seconds

Hex: Blood paid Love: A hex that curses' the bonds and friendships of others

While Hex: Blood paid love is active, any survivor who is healed from the dying state, unhooked by another survivor while Dogface is more than 32/24/16 meters away. The rescuer will suffer from the exposed status effect for 30/40/50 seconds. You will gain a notification of their location if the survivor decides to take a protection hit, they will suffer the deep wound. ( In short its either you the survivor suffer the consequences or your rescuer does)

Conclusion: Many people wanted a werewolf like Killer so I wanted to make this killer a lot more unique since this killer is a supernatural, zombie, werewolf creature. I absolutely loved making this, anyway I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you in the fog.

A pretty cool concept all things considered. The power is pretty vague on, well, everything, but being fleshed out a little more could really make it excellent.

The one thing I have to ask about the power is does the pallet stunning a survivor make it so the pallet is now down? If so, that's really good by itself, but also a 10 second stun is way too long. Maybe a 1 second stun but it can decrease the survivor by 1 health state?

The perks are cool, though written a tad poorly with the Dogface being mentioned explicitly in Hex: Blood Paid Love.

Drowned Agony seemed pretty bad at first, but then I saw that they suffer from the broken status effect for 2 whole minutes at max level. Maybe decrease the length of the broken effect to 45/60/75 seconds?

Carnal Urges is pretty bad all things considered, relying entirely on the bloodlust effect. Sure it helps bad killers, but its entirely useless to Killers that can land hits or down quickly, as well as stealth killers that tend to land their first hit too quickly for Bloodlust to activate. Maybe make it so the first hit always applies the oblivious effect for 30/45/60 seconds?

Hex: Blood Paid Love is interesting, but probably not good enough to be a Hex perk, seeing as Make Your Choice exists.

As I said, pretty great overall but a few tweaks to the perks and more specification on the power would be nice.

Okay thank you, and to answer your question for the pallet yes it does put it down, and while in poltergeist form can be broken. Also thanks for the feedback, the idea was to show the animalistic side of the killer, and the Hex perk was originally allowing the killer to be a lot closer to the survivor by 18 meters at max, the idea was to represent the bond and love she lost. Now that I think about, Carnal urges I can change maybe something along the lines of chase mobility.

Being able to pull down and break a pallet is incredibly good, broken even. Maybe make it so she just hits the Survivor in the head with it before putting it back up?

I get the lore and such, but I only really focus on game balance. If you were to make it 18 meters that'd be ridiculously powerful and potentially degenerate on Killers like the Demogorgon. I'd leave it at 32 meters, but make it not a Hex perk.

That idea for Carnal Urges could work, and would definitely help chase based Killers like the Legion if made correctly.

Carnal Urges was definitely heavily improved, I really like it.

Hex: Blood Paid Love is... odd? So I get the Survivor who unhooked is Exposed, but when is Deep Wounds applied? If the person who was unhooked takes a protection hit, or if any other Survivor does? Also when this happens it should be specified that the Exposed effect ends when another Survivor is hit.

Okay will do, I was editing it when you commented on it and improving it, I will say she can't always throw down a pallet, once she's thrown down at least one The Dogface can't touch anything physical for 80 seconds while in Poltergeist form, now if someone was put into the dieing state while in Poltergeist form she can pick them up, and take them to the hook but struggling out is faster so I give you the choice if its a good idea or not to go into physical form or Poltergeist form, i want the player to think about it.

Alright. That sounds pretty good, giving the Killer some options and such. I like it!
