Pyramid Head has either a power bypass glitch or a visual glitch, He was moving around with his weapon in the ground as if his power was in use but it was not leaving a trail, he could still swing his weapon like before the update to his power and would just put his weapon back into the ground but also use his punishment power without any problems.
