Old and New problems with audio while playing killer and survivor.
The new...
I don't recall exactly what patch it was, but it was a patch and not just a hotfix. The notes reported to have improved VFX, but nothing seems to have changed with the audio balancing. Ever since this change, certain audio is louder, while other audio falls off more quickly:
- While playing killer, the killer's footsteps, other ambient sounds they make, and chase music is a lot louder - this is really bad on the executioner; I can barely hear over his sword when walking on hard surfaces. I thought this might be bugged and be fixed eventually. But, even with the recent update, there haven't been any changes.
- While playing survivor, other survivors breathing is a lot louder. This doesn't really cause any issues.
- While playing either roles, hearing injured survivors is difficult. It's almost as if the sound drops off more quickly than it used to - even while using stridor, when playing killer.
If this isn't bugged, and it's intended, then the audio is too much in the favor of survivors ;these issues affect killer in the negative more than survivors. Even while wearing headphones, and using stridor, I have been finding it hard to keep track of people. I mean, it's getting the point where I just feel confused by the game's audio. It's really discouraging, because there's no amount of skill that's going to change this for me. I can't get better at hearing.
The old...
On certain maps, like Badham and Gideon meat plant, I can hear survivors through walls like they are right next to me and it's almost impossible to tell whether they are in the basement, or behind a wall in a classroom while I'm outside. This has been an issue for a long long long time, and I can't tell you how many times I couldn't get to a survivor to heal them, or couldn't find them as killer to down them.
Please fix these. Thank you :D
