I can't change killers in lobby anymore?
So I recently came back to DBD and of course I'm greeted by SWF on my first game.
I wanted to switch off from Trapper and use my equally as try hard main but I can't. Was this always a thing?
I swear this didn't exist like a year ago.

Yeah it's for the new matchmaking. Making the survivors you get based off your kill to win ratio on that particular killer.
Although I'm pretty sure they removed it for more testing or something.

It was for the new matchmaking, which they removed instantly and kept the fact that you can't switch killers for some reason.
It's irritating.

Yes it was for a new MMR system, they disabled it to work on it more and it doesn't require a patch to turn that off and on. The killer lock mechanism requires a patch to turn it off and on and they don't see the point in disabling it just to re-enable it later.

Very faulty system then.
Just bought Blight and the first game I got is Survivors who clearly know what they're doing with established perks then when I used my Oni who has a lot of wins prior to me quitting its nothing but baby dwights. So I think I'll consider that they removed it lol

Ah thanks for helping me understand.
Yeah it backfired on them pretty hard. Sometimes I got the most cutest survivors who get destroyed, only for me to realise that there only rank 17. Was the killer truly the monster... or was it me.
But besides that, don't give up. Sometimes you'll get the ultimate sweat lords. Challenging but teach you a lot. Or you get the calm and relaxing games with decent survivors m, but not good enough to stress you out. Still learning just not as much. After I play a game against a bunch of sets or sweat lords, even professional survivors that destroyed me. I'll reflect on what I can do. And make the game more fun next time. Just keep going and reflect. :)

The killer lock is still in place, but the MMR system currently is not. It takes a patch to turn the lock on and off while it doesn't take one to turn the MMR on and off. They are trying to make it better and work on it right now.

Something you might be interested in as a semi-workaround is that you can dodge the lobby, switch killer and then ready up again. Chances are you'll get put right back with the same group but you'll at least have the killer you want.
It's not a guaranteed thing but from my own experience it happens more often then not. Once the MMR system goes live this won't work but until then it's something you can try.
Edit: Bloodborne <3

Idk how long you were gone but in matchmaking survivors are grouped together before being matched with a killer. That means 4 survivors will almost always pop into the lobby simultaneously. It does not mean they are SWF.

Killers can still check their Steam profiles to see if they are SWF or not.
Yes, they enabled their new MMR for like a week and turned it back off because it wasn't working properly. This was months ago and they still didn't fix it or re-enable it.

Yeah pretty sure I was still playing the game when I quit like late 2019.
I go by my judgement which is right most of the time and in retrospective the match I was talking about was indeed SWF considering their coordination, perk set up and tools they brought.
