How to fix gen speed interactive design (TL;DR at bottom)

basic idea:

in order to slow the gens down I've came up with an idea that has interactive qualities that can change the game from the ground up and create new strategies and playstyles. the basic concept is, the killer will have an ability that can be activated at any point in time this ability slows the gen speed by 50% this ability when entering the game will automictically be on.

from this point the killer must find a survivor once they do they will stop the ability by either injurying the survivor downing the survivor or hooking them what ever comes first (because if you find a survivor in a locker technically they weren't injured or downed but they still get hooked) once the killer does any of the three things the ability will go on a cooldown which can be affect by survivors but no matter what the survivors do you will eventually get the ability back.

it would be something like oni were your power slowly comes back but you can speed it up (or in this case speed it down) in order to make it more interactive the cooldown can be anywhere from 1-3 minutes

counter play:

in order to give killers something this strong their should be counter play in order to minimize the power the killer has over the survivors so that the game doesn't become to easy for the killer.

with that stated lets talk about the counter play. the way survivors will counter this is by finding pedestals around the map that have a floating crystal above it. the pedestal will have the red and black design that the entity's claws have and the crystal will have a blackish red look that makes it shine.

the survivors will be able to see the auras of these pedestals from 32 meters away there is a total of 4 pedestals but 5 crystals (more about the extra crystal in the lore section) when the survivors are by the pedestals they can interact with the crystal in doing so will cause the survivor to grab it and smash it cause the crystal to shatter and the pedestal to sink into the ground while spinning when the survivor does this it will affect the cooldown of the killers ability slowing the rate of which the ability charges and also taking 25% of the charge down (this regression will slowly become useless because the charge will eventually gather permeant progress which will be a first for DBD)

the pedestals will always be visible to the killer but it will have a purple aura (closest pure color to blackish red) to the killer while the survivors will see it as a white aura (that will help Nea to remember she's on the survivor team) pedestals will rise again in a different spot but when they do they will be blocked by the entity's claws for 10 seconds the pedestals wont have a set respawn time but they will be put on a random timer between 20-40 seconds.

you might think that the pedestals are only for the survivors but you would be wrong in fact the killer will get a 25% bonus speed to the rate at which the ability's progress will be gained which means will all four pedestals up and undisturbed will give the killer their ability in a minute how ever if the pedestal are disturbed the charge will get a 15% permeant progress for each pedestal removed meaning you will get 50% bonus once all four go down at once. permeant progress will only last until the ability is activated then all progress will disappear and all pedestals will rise during which the survivors can remove if all four get removed than it will stop the ability and put it back on cool down with no progress and no pedestals during this time if the pedestals were to never rise again (which will never happen unless you play custom game and disable the pedestals) you will eventually get your ability back after 3 minutes. the progress bar for this ability will be where the EGC bar would normally be this ability will be disable during EGC and the EGC will take it's place

Lore:

the crystal is a gift from the fog to the killer allowing them to harness their own emotions and power from the trial as the killers become more determined to kill the crystal will reward the killer giving them different ability's that all hinder the survivors and give the killers the fulfillment of this never ending game in which they enjoy. the crystal is the second gift all killer receive one they will hold onto (the first being their power and the ability to keep living if they were about to die)

inspirations:

Scott jund's reveres EGC type idea in which the gens slowed by 50% until the killer begins a chase and the 4th year anniversary event were survivors and killer could get crowns by interacting with pedestals

TL;DR:

at the beginning of game gens reduced to 50% until survivor is injured later it will be on cool down until it can be used again. all of which is affected by magic crystals


mini idea: make crystal a charm only for killers in the rift or something like that
