The suicide effect right now.

I have been slowly losing my sanity to dead by daylight recently. We have had bugs that make the game irritating but truthfully nothing has been more frustrating than just general things already meant to be in the game. I have for hours been trying to get the 8 gens with pop goes the weasel challenge done but I have been gen rushed to holy hell every time I try. There are some single trials every tome that are frustrating beyond belief to unlock and they truthfully need to stop. The grind is enough already and it's just life consuming and mentally draining to have to imagine trying to beat people to gens for great skill checks in a single trial or get multiple specific hooks in a single trial or this and that in a single trial. Key words "in a single trial". We should just be able to play the ######### game and try to enjoy it while getting stuff unlocked without the added chaos of having to need it done right there in that trial. Some are easy and others are just a rage inducers regardless the side you play. Aside from this I have had to as I'm sure many have out there endure the horrific double window vault locations specifically the terrible 4 window vault area in a Macmillan map where two sets of double vault windows spawn and in between them is a small rock pallet loop. I got ran an entire game to 1 gen trying to get someone down. I get bamboozle is a perk but I shouldn't have to run it just to defend against something like that as a killer. I mean damn you're one person against 4 and almost every damn time it's a survive with friends and you're just screwed because they will always have your location, where you're going and what you're deciding to do. Another bad match tonight was a tremendously awful scream match at the backwater swamp where I was run by a zarina at the long log in front of the boat. I got ran endlessly by that area and what was worse was I couldn't see scratch marks half the time or they looked like they disappeared because the grass in that map is so dark and hard to navigate it's easy to go blind. I never screamed so much profanity more than I have today especially with after every time I got ran trying to do a challenge mind you I have to constantly read gg ez or something that's toxic towards me basically being bad at the game. I have had amazing matches and played greatly before but these challenges we get and the loops in the maps right now are just too much to bear at times. I have disconnected multiple times today and the other thing I can say needs to go is the penalty for leaving. I have broken down so many times just because I didn't wanna have a timer say no you can't play for this amount of time that gets bigger the more you do it. I have watched many streams to say I can't believe there isn't a better system for us to get what we need said to the devs than a stupid q&a that barely gets real good questions. I'm tired of seeing what are you doing for this killer and this survivor and is there a rework of this perk or that perk. I just want some one from behaviour to read this and answer this question. Will you just stop doing nerfs and buffs for awhile and really look at the issues the game has. The unfair advantages that each side has, and more so the unfairness to killers that has been shown. If you guys wanted to change up moris you could've made it to where all survivors need to all be 1st hooked before every survivor can be moried and kept the ivory the same. That way killers would have to leave tunneling behind and pressure the other survivors in game if they want to be able to get the mori on everyone activated. Theres so many things i can spout out that should be changed because the game is toxic to itself and thus toxic to me the player and im increasingly starting to be unable to handle it after supporting the game for so long. I know this has crap comments written all over it but I have no regret venting this and will be working on a list of things that actually will fix the game we are all playing not just a list of this and that for people to complain about but something that gets read and possibly gets a conversation going about making the game that's loveable and incredibly hateable just simply good and fair to a point where it's just great and there's fairness finally with balance. If anything I at least want to see the devs put an end to single trial challenges and I hope many do too.

My eyes literally burned from how damn bright the wall of text was. I may never read the same again.

I didn’t read much, hard on the eyes, but I did see your complaint about the Pop Goes the Weasel challenge.

I completed that one pretty easy, and I have a helpful tip for you as I think you’re reading too much into it.

You don’t need to “Pop” 8 generators. You just need to damage 8 generators while having PGTW equipped (it doesn’t matter if it’s active or not).

    This.

The descriptions often trick us into thinking the player needs to get the direct outcome from the perk in question.

I remember having an infuriating time with the Devour Hope challenge a few tomes back, embarrassingly misunderstanding that I simply need to have the perk equipped and mori, not literally get 5 stacks and mori via Devour Hope.

Oh man, there was one where the killer was supposed to down Exposed survivors while running some perk, I forget what, pretty sure it was one of the hexes. But screw that noise, I just put on Myers lol.

Yeah, you're probably right. The requirements for the Devour Hope one were crazy specific: Hook 5 times, Hit survivor while he is exposed 2 times, Mori 1 time.

There was also one for hitting an Exposed survivor while running Haunted Ground. I probably used Myers for that, too. I never seem to be able to find survivors before the HG timer is up.

I promise you that in every match there are generators in deadzone or deadzone after depleted resources. You need to assess the tiles and decide if it's worth to chase. The most fun part of dbd for survivors is big chases and you're against that? I would too like to see single trial challenges removed (all of challenges removed if it were up to me - or a seperate queue ;)) I agree object of obsession can be disheartening when you know it's swf I'll give anyone that - it should be changed. I'll try and address all your points spaced out:

    1) 8 pops in 1 match shouldn't be an easy challenge you seem to think that should be easily achievable (I'm assuming you're at least green rank or higher). As soon as you're playing against survs that are actually completing generators instead of doing nothing 8 pops is highly unlikely.

    2) How incohesive your post is I highly doubt you're macro managing the map well enough to know when survivors are hitting lots of great skill checks lmao. Remember, every match are ranked games therefore players don't go in assuming it's a challenge wolfdaddy power hour. Any second you spend messing around as survivor is only sabotaging the match for yourself. I'm sorry but you cannot expect survs to not do the objective especially at high level. I do agree with you saying the tomes are frustrating beyond belief, however, I'm the opposite to you; I can't stand it when people DO TOMES in matches because it often means throwing a match or doing something unoptimal which I'll never understand why they never made a seperate queue for this sort of stuff.

    3) Every map should have strong tiles for survivors to use. Hell these players spend countless hours learning and perfecting how to run loops and learn how to identify what tiles you can loop together while micro managing your distance with the killer. This is like the biggest part of the game for a good survivor player. How to try and get the killer to overextend and waste time trying to get that hit they're so close to getting and snuff out those hard to complete generators. "I got ran an entire game to 1 gen trying to get someone down." You can choose to stop chase - it doesn't make you a bad player lmao. On the contrary actually. Bamboozle used correctly should never result in a 4 gen chase. I bet you were trying to use it at every window you ran into. Survivors aren't stupid, it's not hard to identify bambooze and side step and take distance to another tile. You cannot rely on bamboozle like that. You're spending too much time trying to force a free hit. Watch some good killer players and they'll show you every single 50/50 and every single mindgame possible on a tile. Trust me, hits will flow when you master every tile.

    4) I really don't like your comment on moris. They were a problem for a very VERY long time. It always boils down to killer players getting very comfortable to the fact they can remove one player out of the match prematurely then stomp the rest of the game 1v3 (That means ivory is just as unfair and reserves equal right to nerfing as ebony. The current mori is still wrong in my opinion and will probably one day get nerfed again but that's a discussion for another day.) How is that at all competitive especially when moris avoid any altruistic play from the survivors to prevent the hook if they choose to. If you feel like you need to take a particular survivor out of the game to win then you should be losing that trial. You can't win every single game as killer. Humble yourself and identify what mistakes I made and how I can improve in my next. I'm not saying killer is easy at all I get the stress involved but the best part of killer is you have nobody to blame but yourself. That makes room for improvement so much easier to identify. If you want to be top of the ladder as killer the mori nerf has only made it so the most elite killer players are on the top. The mori crutch players are the only people hurt by this which is a great thing! It honestly gave people such a false sense of security at what level they think they are in dbd. You have jumped on the bandwagon as well regarding it will provoke tunnelling. Oh will it now? Bring it on then. You can tunnel, you can camp all you like - you will not be beating my team though. With a mori you could. Easily.

    5) Last point with the toxicity. There are some huge egos on some survivor players (as well as killer) we're all human. All I can suggest is that you look the other way and don't tilt. Only focus on your gameplay because tilting will only help out the survivor players whom you're trying to beat!

I hope my insight proves useful to you approaching future games with a level head. Just remember that this game has taken lots of steps forward in terms of balancing the 1v4.

Please, for the love of all things.... it hurts.

Also, I'd recommend changing the title a bit, maybe to say "Suicide on Hook"

That title can easily be misinterpreted.

I think the Tome/Rift were the worst thing that happened to this game. The challenges make playing as a solo survivor absolutely miserable. Killers seem to have an ax to grind about the mori's being removed. I never run unbreakable but I'm getting slugged so much at five gens I'm about to start. Not to mention the outright face camping and tunneling, if my teammates can even be bothered to farm me off the hook against some scary Wraith.

If the game isn't fun, take a break. I took months away when the challenges destroyed the game for me. I just came back recently to see if it was any better. It's sad to say but I think I'll be permanently stepping away from DBD. It's just not the same game anymore and it never will be with the challenges. Don't keep playing a game you don't like anymore just because you put time into it in the past. That's the boat I'm in. This is my farewell tour to DBD.

Hey man, you don't have to prove anything to anyone. I bet you have had a ton of good games, we all have, same with bad ones.

I completely agree they should make challenges continuous instead of per trial. Forget the wall of text and the rant, you make a good point.
