acceptable disconnects
when and where should someone intentionally DC from the game?
if the game is held hostage? if the opponent is legitimately hacking?
what about minor things? honestly in a lot of cases Id rather wait out the DC penalty than wait in game for sweaty toxic swf or and slugging killer but thats because Id rather not let the other side get more out of my pain.

You know something? When playing as a killer, in real life I barely make any noise with my headphones on, I'm listening for footsteps etc.
But it NEVER fails to get a smug chuckle out of me when a survivor DCs, that's when I do a little laugh. Is it toxic? I dunno, or care.
What I'm saying is, killers love DCs, and you're only hurting your team when you do it. So if that's the goal (Hurting your team) then by all means. I've done it and it's okay. Everyone play how they want.

Emergencies? Totally. If anything urgent is happening, totally, but when it comes to specific things within the game, it is possible to wait them out. Leaving the match was never intended for any situation, but for emergencies.
Minor things? Definitely no. It ruins the games for other people. You're not the only person playing the game. DCing as killer ruins the game for four other people, DCing as survivor also ruins the game for four different people who most of the time still have to play the game first though to get out. I totally get slugging can be annoying, so can be camping, tunneling, etc., but they're minor things to DC for. The same for facing other people in the game. If you're losing, then you're losing. I've lost too as a killer and survivor in the game and sometimes absolutely hated it due to the way the match went, but a loss is a loss.

I think you should DC in situations where your mental health is going to take a hit if you keep playing. That's different than just not having fun. If you're going to end up in a headspace where you're raging/crying/feeling badly about it for the rest of the day, I'd rather you DC before that happens and take a break.

I've had a bunch of teammates block me in when I'm cleansing a totem lately. Like, it's happening 2-3 times in a few hours. And that's happened more than once. I DC every time and just go play another game. I'm not waiting to play a game that bans me from playing. Meanwhile, we have queues that are sometimes 20 minutes long. But hey, keep banning people from playing the game, devs.

Actually, if survivor queues are long, one of the quickest ways to fix it is just ban a bunch of survivor players. Boom, fewer survivors per killer player so the survivors left will have faster queues!
Really? You keep getting teammates who block you in? That's weird. And dickish. And a bannable offense, actually. If a teammate body blocks you and prevents you from playing the game, record it and report that player. If you don't report the player for doing it, they can't get banned and the problem will continue.

Idk dcing shouldn’t be something you do unless you’re in an emergency or something it just ruins the game for other people. If you’re going to leave the game at least do it on the hook so a hook is gone.

but when u get an emergency or your game freezes because the last update is bugged to #########, u get banned anyway so
0 -
@trick This is why it starts low, so you don't get punished for an emergency. If you get an emergency, you most likely won't be back within 10 minutes on your pc.

dude , its 6 hours, and every time it was game freeze. and guess what , none of my other games crashed in that time at all. any chance u can un-ban me ? <3

- If you get an emergency you shouldn't care about a 5 minutes ban
- If your game freezes because of a bug you get a 5 minutes ban, it will most likely be over by the time you open the game again. If it keeps happening, maybe stop playing the game until the problem is fixed instead of piling up penalties? Be aware, the problem might be on YOUR end instead of a bug on DBD, if it's a bug, I think you can report it on the forums

okay so , ur game freezes, then next few hours , your game freezes again
and so on untill like me u have 6 hour ban and it takes like 1 week to go back down so, any genius ready for solution now?

i would believe it was my pc but its not , last update looks so unbuggy and everything yakno

If your game keeps freezing, you can post here and it is possible someone might be able to help you: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues Even if it's the game, if you know your game keeps freezing/crashing and you continue to play it, it still ruins the game for those who were in a round with you.

okay thanks man <3

There.
There is your solution.
Report the bug, send developers your game logs and stop playing until they release an update that might fix the issue.
Find something else to play if DBD is not working for you at the moment.
Marvel Avengers crashes every so and so on my laptop, do you think I stubbornly try playing it? That would be stupid, so I'll wait until I can play on my desktop pc again and I play DBD instead.

lol dude , how can u kno when there is a real problem on this game its the most bugged unstable thing u can find xD
0 -
but seems like its virtual memory issue after reading some bug posts
1 -
Well, first of all, if it's a bug you should be able to find someone else who has your same problem
And even if you find noone with your same problem, usually devs are available for helping you understanding what might be the issue, wether it's a bug on the game or a problem on your end

When the killer or other survivor are holding you hostage. I mean actually holding you hostage aka blocking you in a counter with no timer to end the match for you (RBT,EGC or Bleedout)
Game breaking bugs-
Real life emergency
Other than those three you have no reason to disconnect

figured out what it most likely is, but im still banned for 5 hours and they dont unban , so well, i guess thanks for the help and day without dbd xD
0 -
My advice: even if you think the problem is solved, wait a day or two before playing again, otherwise you might find yourself banned for another 12 hours (I think?) if the game crashes again

I've had people message me that they're telling the killer where I am. I play on console, no one will ever get banned.
But yeah it's been happening a lot lately, and it never used to happen at all, so it's very weird. I've always been a totem toucher, so when a game starts I try to cleanse at least one totem before I start on gens. I had it happen five times in three days, that someone blocked me in while cleansing. One time, a second person came to block both me and the first person who blocked me in. It was especially fun when it turned out to be a Legion and he got three of the easiest mends of his life.

You should be able to report them to Sony or Microsoft, pretty sure that kind of thing violates the TOS for their services,

I used to report people when they'd send me messages with homophobic slurs and I got a message from Playstation telling me I was abusing their report system. I was like, no, that's how often I get randos using slurs because they didn't like something I did in-game. So I don't bother anymore.

If it is your last game for the day as it should be in that scenario, I am okay with this one as well, despite what the mod said.
Though you have to be really sure you want to DC because I mean, as killer you can just let the survivors go or AFK in a corner or something, and as survivor you can suicide on hook, both are generally not punished.
So I mean you have options without disconnecting that are basically the same as disconnecting except they don't cheat everyone out of some additional bloodpoints at least.
1 -
I hope that they at least take a look at DC statistics - if certain Killers have a higher DC rate, that might point to a need for a re-work.
0 -
I hate when that happens. They really need to put something in that if you are blocked by another survivor/killer for certain amount of time you can just move through them.
0 -
I mean that person should be reporting those people as well. I would shadow play that and open a ticket report even.

As a Survivor I never DC. I think it's a scummy move. Finish the match. If it really really is an emergency, go AFK. Let the Killer at least think you are in the game and have to hunt you down. It gives him points for hooking you and the allies points for unhooking you, assuming they can get the Safe Unhook timer.
As a Killer it's a bit different. I have DC'd exactly ONE time. I was having a terrible afternoon of play, had several bad games in a row, and I loaded my fourth game into the #$%$ing Swamp. I hate the Swamp so much. So I just bailed and gave the Survivors the win to take a mental health break.

Oh yeah, I love cleansing totems. I'll always cleanse totems. It's often the first thing I do when a match starts, rather than jumping on a gen so I can be the first survivor caught. Never had anyone block me in for doing bones, though. I've reported people for breaking the rules (holding the game hostage), and the devs seemed to take the reports seriously. Someone may not get banned on the first report, but if they don't stop the behavior they will continue to get reported and multiple reports will definitely see them get in trouble.
Back when I had messages turned on, I reported a lot of people for the things they'd write to me. Never had PlayStation complain about it. I really expected them to tell me to stop reporting people or stop playing Dead by Daylight.
I finally turned off messages and friend requests, though, just to make life easier. It felt quite freeing. And it lets me joke around with my friends, "Oh man, I've got some angry messages coming my way for that match!"
