What to do without BT?

Hello!

I don't run BT but appreciate the perk, and am wondering what I should do if there is a person on hook with a killer being looped near them? I have found that people think I'm being rude when I sit by them and wait for the killer to go elsewhere, but I also don't want it to seem like I am farming them. What should I do? Thank you in advance for any responses, I just want to make sure I'm not accidentally being a bad teammate :)!

Oh that's brilliant! I'm always worried that the killer will slash them instead of me immediately after if they get the right angle, so I'll do my best to take hits at the right angle to help them out :)!! Thank you so much!

Try to create distractions or diversions that draw the killer away from the hook

    Trading can win games, too.

If the hooked person is about to die and you haven't got hooked yet then trading makes sense especially if it's late-game and you got DS or Adrenaline.

Unhook the person that's about to die, trade, let them get away by throwing yourself on the hook, let them pump put the last gen(s), get unhooked and get out with DS, Adrenaline or if you instantly get picked up after trading thus granting you a safe-unhook: Deliverance.

Trading isn't always bad. It depends on the situation.

I was going to say the same thing, but an observer waiting for an opportunity to do the save can’t do anything about another survivor being an idiot

Yes, but I meant what I should do if I am going for a save in a situation where a survivor is looping or distracting near the hooked teammate. Heartbound gave me a good tip to body block during the unhook in case they get close, I was just worried about messing up the angle and putting my teammate in a bad situation! Good point though, it's very common unfortunately

This. Can't tell you how many times I've beaten a team because someone decides to try run me around the hook area leading to the others trying to rush in to save and swapping places with them. But then of course, YOU'RE the bad one for 'camping' the hook.

Its an unfortunate situation that happen way too often. But I think the worst thing you can do is just wait for the situation to change. Either you think you can make the save and go for it, or just go do a gen. There is nothing more frustrating for the guy on the hook than seeing one teamate failing to lure the killer away and the other 2 waiting around doing nothing for a safe save that may never come.

There are a few ways to make a safe save without BT. If the killer is close you can take a hit and unhook during the attack recovery. But that won't work if the killer is using Save the Best for Last (not that common unless its Demogorgon). You will probably just end up trading places on the hook, but its better than letting someone go to second hook phase (unless you are on death hook yourself).

If you have enough distance, you want to try to position yourself beetween the killer and the hook, so your hitbox is in the way if the killer lunge.

The tricky part is if the killer just wait to try and grab you. You will have to engage in the dance of baiting the save until the killer lose patience or you lose your cool.
