Question about Dragons Grip. Devs?
Does the cooldown start after the gen is kicked?
If not are there different cooldowns depending on whether it gets touched or not (e.i. does it start after the 30 second window if untouched and after the 60 second exposed effect if it is touched)?
Can you explain this if you have time?

I'm not 100% sure but i think The cooldown begins after the 30 second window, regardless if someone touches it or not

See, that's kinda what I thought. So how do you know if the visual que on the perk is counting down the cooldown or the exposed effect? Most times the scream doesn't proc and even if you're chasing someone that screamed, it changes counts at some point.

The cool down starts when the 30 second window to expose a survivor expires, or when a survivor touches the gen and becomes exposed, whichever comes first.

Are you certain? I'm not doubting you, I just truly want to understand it.
Edit: if this is the case, does the visual countdown on the perk just count the cooldown, or does it go into a second count after the 60 second one with the remainder of it?

It's 30 seconds of exposure, then the 60 second cooldown after that, so if no one touches the gen it's more a 90 second cooldown.

No. It's 30 seconds to be touched. 60 second exposure if it is touched. 80/100/120 second cooldown depending on tier.
That much is explained on the perk itself

100% certain. The cool down doesn’t start until either a survivor is exposed, or when the 30 second window to expose a survivor expires.

Can confirm. Use this perk a lot and that is clearly a cooldown after the dragon's grip effect expires.

Thank you. So if it's not touched, cooldown starts after 30 and if it is touched cooldown starts after 60 sec exposed+ the amount of 30 seconds it went untouched.
Is that correct.

Incorrect
This part is correct “So if it's not touched, cooldown starts after 30”.
If a survivor touches the gen and gets exposed, this also triggers the cool down, not after the survivors exposed timer runs out.

I see. Getting conflicting answers in this thread though. I know from reading in the forums that your info is usually spot on. I wish a dev would confirm though.

If I had tier 1 on anybody I'd time it to see for sure but tier 3 will be really hard to get definitive results.

Sorry one other question. I'm sure you're correct. So when a survivor touches the gen, is the visual timer on the perk icon the cooldown and not the exposed timer? Or does the timer change after 60 seconds?
This is what confuses me, what is the perk icon counting down?

When you first kick a gen with Dragons Grip active, the perk first shows the 30 second time limit that gen can expose a survivor.
The moment the 30 second timer expires, or the moment a survivor touches that gen and gets exposed, you will then start to see the 80 second cool down start on the perk.

You're awesome thank you! That makes sense as sometimes I will hit the person and they don't go down... I always assumed it was somehow the wrong survivor but it's probably the time after 60 secs but before 80.
Again thanks. I've noticed you always seem to know your stuff when it comes to dbd.

You’re welcome. Dragon’s Grip is one of the more confusing ones with how it presents its timer and cool down.

Most definitely. If I have anymore killer perk quandaries I'll tag you in them for times sake😁.
