Getting hit by killer facing away from me

I've encountered a handful of times now (a handful even just today) where the killer appears to be facing a different direction than toward me on a swing and I get hit still (e.g. he's facing 90 degrees away or even 180 but still right next to me). I'm trying to figure out the pattern to this and am not sure if it's my latency, a bug, or just how the game works. Has anyone else experienced this / have any suggestions to improve/counter it?

I'm hoping for an answer that's changing a setting, or maybe an explanation for how the server validates hits to better understand how to avoid them, etc.

Servers' questionable quality supposes a rather significant latency of all the players involved, resulting among other issues into two following problems:

    1) if the killer flicks really fast before hitting you, you might get the animation displayed after the hit was validated

    2) server and/or killer might see you at a spot you were at half a second ago and validate a hit there if your connection is poor. From killer's perspective, they will see your downed body teleporting 1-2 meters away from the spot they downed you at, as your position is then adjusted.
