SINCE WHEN?
So a group of 2 ttv players got upset that I 99% a gate, since when that is the wrong choice? The heck is happening to survivor mains these days?

Sometimes, the difference between dying and surviving is the 99% Gate.
Or maybe they had an EGC challenge?
We need more information!

Who cares what they think. Especially if they're going to whine about how someone else plays.

It's one of those things, sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't...if someone is being chased and a survivor has 99'd the gate and left it, it really doesn't help because the survivor has to stop to open the gate mid chase in order to escape. It depends on the end situation as to whether I will 99 it or not.
BUT, it's not other players place to get upset at the way you played - you have to play your own way.

The Streaming Crowd, who use us for content, get paid for it when we do not. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over what upsets them. I had one chew me out once after I wiped out almost all of them on Midwich with Spooky Myers. He took the hatch. He did the normal, accusing me of tunneling, camping, etc. Told me I didn't give that newer player a chance (none of them were that new). They were the Streamer's entourage clearly. The thing is the Streamer didn't really care about those other Players; the Streamer was upset that I trounced him and his team in a live stream and was desperate to try and save face by attacking me. I offered to show him the video from my perspective so he could see no one was tunneled or camped, but that would have defeated his purpose.
I expect the people complaining at you were doing it for the same reason, i.e. to try and shift blame.

Did you stay at the Gate? If not and they died because of that, I can relate to them. I have died more than once because a Survivor 99ed the Gate and simply left, meaning I ran to a closed Gate with the Killer.
99ing the Exit Gates is a good decision, if someone is staying there to open and maybe bodyblock.
7 -
Eh. I always open the exit gate. I feel like 99ing a gate is a boring cheap tactic with no risk. Least with egc it forces other survs to help make moves.

I have noticed that people with ttv in their name tend to complain a lot. I hate playing with them killer or survivor. If you kill them they think you must have stream sniped and if you're survivor with them they are always the best and everyone else sucks. I just dodge lobbies with them in it anymore.

We need more information about what was going on. If you post, you should probably reply to people's questions...

Maybe they were running No One Left Behind and was planning on farming bloodpoints?

Wish I would've known, if they told me in the chat I would know.
Exactly, I didn't get upset that I was the one that looped the killer the most and still somehow did more gens than them, I did 3 gens, looped and 1 totem meanwhile one of them urban evaded ( I use bond)
No, one died while I was on hook, the other one was on hook when I was 99% the gate, I went for that player when I 99% that exit gate and I was the one that died, the one that complained the most about the gate was the one that I helped survive.

Ok, match started, autohaven was the map, I started with a Clad the ttv(not saying their name because no name shaming) she was afk for a few seconds until the killer got to us.
I moved a lot so the killer will chase me (I love being chased), I looped legion for maybe 2 min until I got mindgamed and got down, 1 gen popped.
The other ttv player unhooked me and did the "come" gesture, she gave me a toolbox and then I did a gen, legion from what it looked didn't wanted to chase me, I did another gen one that prevented our 3 gen which was a middle gen.
I got chased again on killer shack, then legion left me and downed the clad.
I unhooked and did another gen then our 4th teammate died.
They finished the last gen, the other ttv died then the clad ttv got downed since they were both injured and just pushed the gen, I 99% the door and unhooked clad ttv then I died because legion played fair and didn't tunneled( I also had bt).
Endgame chat I was told that 99% doors is what idiots do to put simply.
Edit: I didn't answered because I was asleep

Sounds like they were just salty and looking for a scapegoat.

I only 99 when I can stay near the gate and assess the situation, otherwise it's open and I'm gone.
2 -
In that situation it was probably a better idea to open the gate first, but really, who cares? You went back and saved them, they should have said thanks or gg and left it at that.

Ignore them.

Some survivors will be upset because you 99%d. Conversely, if you opened and the EGC was counting down, other survivors may complain because they didn't have enough time to try to save.
IMO, it's almost always a better idea to 99% to give your teammates time. Sometimes someone will get hit waiting a half second to open the gate and that is unfortunate.
Usually the survivor who is complaining is a casualty of one of those scenarios and they will say that you should have done the other thing (whichever is the one you didn't do).
Just ignore them...

It's definitely one of those things that can go either way. No one is psychic -- you have to do what you think seems best in the moment. Personally, I think 99 is the safer bet in most situations, but YMMV.

I wish they'd add regression to gates so people wouldn't 99 all the time. I've died so many times because of it, plus it makes EGC challenges much more tedious.

I'm unsure what the last thing is, sorry I'm old so I never learnt YMMV.
But yeah if they had a key or something they could say in the chat I rarely pay attention to what items they have, I just ready and check my phone.
If you are doing egc challenges say in the chat? Most people will read it and help from my experience.

Yes and no. If you have a survivor slugged and 1 going to hook... 99% allows for some strategy... takes the EGC pressure off. It can drastically backfire. A 2k can quickly become a 4k.
0 -
A 2k can only become a 4k if all survivors are suuuuuper alteristic. And then its their fault.

If you 99 it and someone is ready to flip it, it's fine.
If someone is being chased, is running to gate and you 99 it and leave....you may have just gotten them killed so they may be grumpy; as they expected you to open the gate for them.
1 -
I only 99 when there is somebody on a hook. Most of the time it seems if you open the gate while somebody is still hooked they are a lot more likely to camp it.

I typed the highlights of the game from my pov above but to sum it up, two of us were alive, I 99% went for the save, survivor got pissed.
Exactly but this legion played more than fair, no camp no tunnel even with no obsession.

Survivors get mad at me for opening the gate. They also get mad at for 99ing the gate.
They send me hateful messages after they die.
Survivors are ...... Well .... They are survivors so I don't expect much.

Unfortunately, the way the ranking system works, some ranks have no choice but to go in and save. If I am going to de-pip for escaping... I may as well go in for the saves.
I have been part of some pretty amazing end game saves, without the pressure of the ECG, we had more time.

YMMV is "Your Mileage May Vary".
