Console Gamers - Popping the gate when killer is no where near...

Member Posts: 1,790

...while someone is on hook across the map. Then just hugging the exit waiting to get chased out.

I am pretty sure EGC gained a significant leap in survivor casualties since crossplay arrived.

What is up with this?

So more time is in favour of the killer when running out of time instantly kills all survivors? Okay then.

If someone is down or on the hook, you literally have 4 minutes. If that is LEGITIMATELY not enough time for you, that's a you not being good at the game problem. Not a "omg this person had a brain and opened the exit gate" problem.

The thing is though, what you're trying to imply is that having a maximum of four minutes to try and get everyone out of the match is somehow better than having essentially however long the survivors want. It really isn't that hard for one survivor to run ahead of the group in order to open the gate for everyone else.

Happens to me as well, looks like they don't know what they are doing, they open exit gate for no reason, crawl instead of recover, and farm you at hook just to take your place

I had a friend I told him to get out he opened a 99% gate 2 consoles left and they tried saving me but I couldn't tell them I was being camped, kinda sucked, they got me but they both died for it :/

Point is u shouldn't judge someone on what machine they play....

    Unless it's mobile they eww

I'm pretty sure that happened even before crossplay with consoles.

99'ing is situational, just like opening.

I know what life was like before crossplay - it happens way more now, and then they just sit there in the exit, while someone is on a hook, waiting to get chased out.

I see way more PC survivors 99 gates because they think it's a big brain play or something and when they do open gates they're leaving with 0 altruism lol

If the killer downs you thanks to the half-second longer it takes to open a 99'd gate, you were probably dead anyway given that there's still several metres to cover before you actually escape. Personally, I never really find it much of a problem - not something I can say about EGC breathing down my neck and forcing me to leave because there's literally no time to heal, go across the map, save someone and come back to the gate because some genius decided to open it early.

There's a reason the community shifted to 99ing gates, and it's not because of content creators. It's because once the gates are powered and 99'd, survivors hold all the cards. Theres no rush for them to do anything any more, now it's all on the killer. They can heal. Co-ordinate. Go for saves, take risky plays that suddenly lost all their risk because everyone's healthy. More time in the endgame benefits the survivors, not the killer - the killer wins if the timer runs out, after all.

    Nothing to do with console.

It's a dumb move but is also not just on console. I play on PC and my fellow PC users sometimes do the same thing.

I don't usually 99 doors when i play solo. I always open the door after the hook.

Ι have died countless times running alone and injured towards a 99 door when my teammates breaking totems and opening chests.

*And it's not a console thing.

This. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO 99 A DOOR CORRECTLY.

AND IT INVOLVES YOU STAYING BY THE DOOR TO BE READY TO OPEN IT.

But no one does that in solo queue. They are safe opening chests.

    SWF is another thing.

    Solo is solo.
