Why is bodyblocking (to grief) still allowed? and an idea to fix it.
Title pretty much says it all. I use griefing survivor and victim survivor because they're convenient terms to use, not because I think this is such a gigantic problem.... just an extremely infuriating, match-ruining one the few times it happens with very simple solutions. I very rarely, if ever, DC, but I'm always so close to doing it when I'm trapped in a corner for a solid 30 seconds while the other survivor just stupidly stares at me and keeps pointing, like it's some funny joke. Yeah, it did just happen to me, which is why I'm on these forums. Here are my ideas for a solution:
If one griefing survivor stands in some spot, or maybe moves around in a 2 meter radius spot, for five/ten seconds, while another victim survivor is trying to run through them, then remove collision between the two players for the next five seconds. This helps for times the victim is in a corner doing a totem, gen, or some other reason, and a griefing survivor comes to block you from moving.
I tried to think it through so it can't be exploited too much. If collision was turned off only when the griefing survivor was standing still, then the griefer would move slightly to prevent the victim from losing collision with them, hence the griefer has to be hovering around a 2 meter radius. And I don't think people want two survivors running side by side to all of a sudden turn into one blob.
I don't see any reason to turn off collision between two survivors for more than a few seconds. This is plenty of time for the victim to run through the griefer. I have no idea all the types of "techs" survivors will do with this, but I can think of one. Maybe they'll make an injured survivor go to a corner, and then have a healthy survivor exploit this so the two survivors lose collision with each other and the healthy one can run out an exit gate blocking the injured survivor. Obviously, healing would be better, but there might not be enough time or maybe they just want to BM. In this case, both survivors should be able to take damage from a killers hit provided their literally right on top of each other. That's probably not an easy fix to implement to prevent the exploit, but it's an idea to kick around while the main fix is added.
Basically, the same thing should happen when a killer bodyblocks. However, I believe the killer should have to bodyblock for 30-40 seconds before losing collision, because some killers can use their power to down survivors when they're bodyblocked, so they shouldn't be too worried about the other survivor losing collision unless the killer is actually trying to grief the survivor.
These aren't exactly genius-level IQ ideas. I'm sure plenty of people in the community have already proposed this solution. The question is why is bodyblocking to grief still allowed? Is it really that hard to put in a solution to it after all these years? Lol, I got you guys good. You all thought I was some ignorant newbie, but I already know the answer to my question. DBD and spaghetti code, not to mention the insane amount of people working on cosmetics as opposed to fixing core issues of the game.

Body Blocking used as griefing is not allowed and is punishable in game with a ban. The reason why your proposal doesn't work is because there are active forms of body blocking that are allowed - for example body blocking a killer preventing the killer from hooking a survivor, killer bodyblocking a survivor during EGC are just two examples.
And no, DbD is not built on spaghetti code, that's just a narrative that some people have used over the years and is completely untrue and there's also not that many people who work on cosmetics, the Art team is pretty small.

So it's OK to block someone in a corner for 4 minutes where they can do nothing? They can't get anymore BP and can't just move onto another match, they just sit there getting more frustrated that the devs allow that type of gameplay (and encourage it since there's no downside for killer doing that). It's things like that that encourage the toxicity in this game that players complain about. Wouldn't it be better to make it so players can't be held in corners for extended periods of time to 1. Create a better experience and 2. Lessen the amount of reports received due to something you could make avoidable by removing the collision after 15/20 seconds (that's more than enough time if someone is body blocking a hook). It's this type of game play that causes the complaints about DC penalties - BHVR allows scummy gameplay where people can't do anything to move on from the match rather than do something to fix it.

This is the kind of bodyblocking that Mandy means in terms of griefing. If some dude is literally just blocking you in a corner and not moving (as survivor or killer), then report them after the match ends. If they're doing it as killer they're going to lose extremely fast. If a survivor is body blocking a hook, that is an intended gameplay mechanic. They're impeding your progress to save their friend.

She said body blocking during EGC, which is 4 minutes, is allowed. It would not be considered griefing to the devs.
