Clown rework: we’ve seen 2 additional gas clouds. Let’s speculate what they do.

So we saw brief footage that Clown will still have his regular pink Cloud, switch out a bottle that emits a white gas cloud, and if 1 of those bottles is quickly thrown into the gas cloud of the other, we get a yellow/orange gas cloud.

I wonder what they’ll do. Clearly mixing the 2 is likely to have a more powerful effect than what Clown currently has with his regular tonic.

What does everyone reckon?

    Maybe they were showcasing one of his addons, and imo the effect it does is that after a couple of second into the gas u get the exposed effect for x seconds.


    But tbh i hope is something different, i wanna be surprised and hopefully they change his basekit too

    I’d like to see something more creative and unique than exposed. Maybe if it affected survivor controls. That would be cool.

    If it’s going to take 2 bottles, then yeah something powerful like that, whilst also being unique.

    I’ll be a little irritated if they just add in things that other killers can already do.

    Well,i don't think it will create a stronger slowdown because that would be pretty boring and not really fun to play against.

    Stronger blur effects sounds unlikely aswell.

    Maybe you drop a health state after being x amount of seconds in those new clouds? (Sounds very oppressive though)

    Maybe increased movement speed for clown as a tool for map mobility?

    I think the new bottle will be the orange gas and mixing both will lead to white, not the other way (the bottle emitted orange gas when it was kn clowns hand, didn’t it?)

    as to the effects: i think it would be neat if orange would invert controls for the surv, white would just be the combination of both effects

    i dont know if balancing evolves around reworking addons, because his basic power is too weak, and we already have trapper that relys heavily on his addons (he has to bring the same things every time basically) .


    He needs more bottles, faster reload, faster movement speed while reloading... than he would be ok i guess. Just having anoter addon doesnt help him if you dont have it.

    It would be cool in theory but really frustrating to go against.

    Anything that takes control from you (movement wise) is not fun to deal with imo.

    I'm not sure if the colours actually mixed. I just rewatched the clip and as you can see, when the bottle is thrown it has a white trail.

    However, in the bottom left corner, the smoke colour shown was orange, not white.

    I'm willing to bet that the white gas won't do too much, only used as a warning to the survivor for the stronger effect that the orange smoke will give. Could it be direct damage? Deep wound maybe? Severe hindered? The change of colour could indicate some kind of scaling in effect over time.

    We already have a potential name for one of the bottles: The Afterpiece Antidote. This was shown when the devs included the description from one of the reworked addons in the live build of the game:

    Now the name "Afterpiece Antidote" is confusing. It suggests a positive effect for those affected. Perhaps it could be an ironic name, being a poison instead of an Antidote. Perhaps it could give a new status effect that slowly ramps up with exposure to the antidote, kind of like Doctor's Madness with his shocks.

    The other interpretation would be direct, suggesting an actual antidote. This would most likely be a positive effect for the clown, not the survivors. If it were to be a buff to the killer, it'd probably be Haste.

    This addon also suggests that the Clown might be getting addons that replace the effects of one of the bottles. It seems unlikely that they'd go through the trouble of coding a system to change out the second bottle just for a meme addon. However, I might be wrong.

    I hope we hear something about the rework soon, I'm really looking forward to what it might contain.

    Man BHVR is stingy about BP considering they keep making it more and more mandatory to have them.

    My thought was that the white gas had more slowdown then the orange gas, so the trade off is slowing more if they were in the cloud early on but slowing less if they entered into the cloud when it was orange

    There's the pink one, then the white one which I guess is the antidote seems to make the pink disperse before creating an orange mess

    So my guess is

    pink = as before

    Orange = damage

    This makes sense with the leaked addon being one of the "challenge" addons that removes your new bottle effect, making him basically old clown. The orange fog is clearly the one you want.

    Pink gas functions as normal

    White gas is a warning/delay before the orange gas takes effect

    Both have been changed to cover a standardized area instead of spawning 6 blobs of gas that disperse like we have now

    What @ReverseVelocity said, i'm not sure the two types of gas are actually mixing.

    The bottom left shows orange gas emitting from the held bottle, so i'm going to assume the white trail when it was thrown just hasn't been updated to show orange or something. When the pink gas cloud turned to white, my first impression was that it was just a visual indicator to show that the cloud is about to change to orange and whatever effect that has.

    Obviously this theory isn't as interesting as mixing gas to create new ones, but at least I wont be disappointed if I keep my expectations low. Though I always felt Clown's power was too bland, so more than likely i'll be happy with whatever they decide to give him.

    I can’t see your last suggestion happening either.

    Imagine Clown mid chase following up flask of bleach on a survivor with a “faster movement speed” cloud in quick succession.

    I don't think it's clear enough to make any guesses on if the gas area has been changed, they could've just changed the particles. If they threw it at a tree then we'd be able to see a lot more clearly.

    Ahh...

    I like where your train of thought is going.

    If it were as you say that the alt bottle is white gas first as a warning, then turns orange (my guess is for a very punishing effect), this might actually better encourage players using Clown to use him properly: use smartly placed gas to attempt to control when/where a survivor changes direction.

    Get my thinking?

    Currently many Clowns just spam bottles willy nilly in an attempt to hit a survivor, and then they’ve run out in less than 20 seconds.

    But if this new bottle lands harmless white gas first before turning harmful, it’ll better get Clowns thinking about how and where to throw them, and get the desired effect of tricking survivors into going exactly where Clown wants them to go.

    Here's my old copy/paste guess:

    So, I want to point out a few things from a game design PoV.

    When you see the orange cloud, it's not orange at first. It's white. That's a WARNING. A "HEY, LOOK OUT". A telegraph. That is letting whoever is in the white cloud know that it's not going to be very wholesome in there for very long. As such, my guess is that the orange is a burning gas. The Survivor has a short period of time to GET OUT AND STAY OUT or else that gas will burn them. My GUESS is that it will reduce a Survivor from Health to Injured. Doubt it will go any lower, as that might make it a bit strong. This will make Clown much more aggressive in a chase, as he will now be able to Injure a Survivor on the move. Big yikes. I doubt it will be able to make a Survivor go into the Dying state, however, because that would introduce the lovely and family friendly concept of "NUKE IT FROM ORBIT", where a Clown could just unload on an area to glass it.

    This is my theory based on the white-to-orange seen in the video. It's clearly showing a warning phase before activating fully, which leads me to believe damage is involved.

    I think Clown is super underrated.

    He destroy loops already.

    He just don't have so much map presence but who cares if you use POP.

    My guess it will be the next broken killer but ... yeah BHVR have to sell cosmetics like Bubba one soooooo.

    It could have some kind of limitation that you can't follow up with an attack after using it.

    Similiar to the halloween addon for killers

    I suspect the orange gas increases your speed as the killer when you pass through it, and has zero effect on survivors (or it cures them of the Afterpiece Tonic if used incorrectly).

    I just thought of something else. With the accidental slip that Ether 5% will change to Party Bottles, the description implies that perhaps there might be a change to the current effect of direct bottle hits (currently its much more severe blurred vision as well as interrupting actions).

    Could direct hits without Party Bottles get an additional effect? More severe than blurred vision? A new status effect?
