Is there any tips or indications how to find Generators on Midwich?

Remember when people complained it was hard to find gens on The Game?

The Devs said that if you see those grey sliding doors, there is always a gen on one side of it. It has been super helpful for me.

Is there anything like that with Midwich? Struggling hard to find gens.

If you run Bond + Open Handed you'll be able to see your team almost the entire game on maps like Midwich, so you can see where they're repairing generators

Best solution is probably just to get a good feel for the map's layout and memorize where the gens are most likely to spawn. Midwich doesn't have any visual indicators of gen locations like Lery's or The Game do. Might've been intentional design due to the school's small size.

Alternatively, just run Detective's Hunch; Midwich is so tiny that you basically see all interactive objects on the map anytime that a gen gets competed (people say OoO is OP on Midwich, I say Detective's Hunch is the true OP survivor perk in Silent Hill).

I've been using a genrush build on Feng Min that is really valuable on Midwich, but the key to it for the map is running Deja-Vu. Its a pretty good build in general for avoiding a 3 gen

Deja-vu = find and complete 1 of the 3 gens closest to each other

Better Together = draw teammates to you as well as get aura reading on your teammates when one goes down

Prove Thyself = get done faster when someone joins you (pretty likely when running Better Together)

Repressed Alliance = protect a gen from regression if you have to leave it

Echoing the person above me, Deja Vu is incredibly helpful for finding generators. Specifically the three closest to each other that you need to complete in order to not get 3-genned hard.

If you really wanna overkill it you can bring a map + detectives hunch

Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

I think using some gen perks + Midwich offering would be good for learning.

Most of the gens in Midwich spawn within the classrooms. You occasionally get one outside in the courtyard, and there are usually one or two in the corridors, but checking the rooms as you move around the map is your best bet. They spawn both upstairs and downstairs so it can feel difficult to find them sometimes.

It would be cool if they made it so that all indoor maps are made so that the rooms that contain generators/the area surrounding a generator is significantly darker than the rest of the map. You would be able to tell that there is a generator inside by looking into the room, instead of having to look for clues that players may not even notice (such as blinking signs).

Just be systematic. Midwich isn't that big, and you can sweep it pretty quick for Generators. Or you can just take a Map or a Perk that shows them to you. :)

I run Detective's Hunch bc of Ruin+Undying and it helps a lot since midwich is by far the smallest map in the game.

Yea. Since Haddonfield (so October 2016) they added blinking lights as an indicator for an undone generator. I seriously don't get why Midwich is the only map where they didn't. Maybe license issues who knows.

For the moment the only thiing you can do is learning the map every time you get sent to it.

I'm running Detectives Hunch for multiple reasons (IS, Ruin/Undying/hex perks in general/3 gens/orientation on certain maps) so I'm pretty happy that I'm not facing so many issues with that.

Sadly, most gamers in DBD don't realize how impactful informations are. Still wondering why the Developers don't like to give solos more informations. Maybe you give Detectives a chance. It also encourages right gameplay. Do your objective in order to win the game and gain a lot of informations to become even more efficient and dangerous for the killer.

Yeah, the map is small but with limited ways to get upstairs, the amount of time it takes might as well be a big map.

Definitly going to take a perk or two and try to learn though. Thank you!

  • Deja-vu is really good if you don't have generator spawns memorized yet.

It prevents a 3 gen so well.

Midwich is frustrating and one of the most killer sided maps in the game. The one plus is that the layout never changes much at all so you can eventually learn where they are all likely to be. But that’s a huge downside too because the exit gates are always in the exact same place with a long empty path between the two that makes it super easy for killers to patrol both, coupled with the fact that the hatch often spawns in the courtyard. It isn’t often easy to escape even when you manage to find 5 gens and repair them all.

I just sneak around until I find one while cursing the map with every breath I take.

I wouldn't go that far because I've also heard Killers lament the heck out of this map. :) I think it is just different, and due to its size the advantage goes to whomever knows it best.

Honestly, despite me being an experienced solo survivor of a few years now, I now almost never take off Visionary for this exact problem you stated.

I just can’t stand trying to find 1 of the last 4 or 3 gens on The Game, Hawkins, Lery’s, or Midwich without Visionary.

So I just leave it on all the time since its release into the perk pool. Helps me try and circumvent the other numbskulls rushing gens too hard into a 3 gen for the killer.

I don’t think it’s fair to put the blame back on the devs. There are a tonne of perks and options that provide information. It’s not the devs fault that, in the case of gens, there are players that don’t equip Deja Vu, Detectives Hunch, Visionary, or a map.

Since Haddonfield the base game without anything in play (perks/addons/abilities/offerings) always gave indications of where gens are. Because solo survivor is already misable enough so at least players and especially new players (the ones who keep this game alive) should have some kind of orientation and Midwich is the first map in 4 years where no help is given. No symbols (the game, lerys) no flicking lights, no closed ways. And they didnt even stated that it's intended or a bug.

In short, I'm not crazy when I say that it's the devs fault that these indicators are missing. They were always there and there is a good reason why.

And last but not least. Perks or other additional things were never a reason why something is okay or not. I give you two exambles. Insta flashlights back in the days were not okay just because Lightborn made them useless. Insta BNPs werent okay because Killer were able to insta mori you once you are downed. That wasn't a thing and it's still not a thing.

I had a Ghostface game a few days ago where I think 6/7 gens spawned downstairs, which didn't seem super fair to me. All I had to do was walk around the lower hallway listening for repairs.

I like Deja vu since it'll help me 1) see 3 gens and 2) plan ahead so killer doesn't have a 3 gen at the end.

Latter is hard to plan with random, but has proven to be effective

Play the original Silent Hill, the map is really faithful to the design of the orginal

There are gens to find and repair in the original Silent Hill?

Gens always spawn in the same areas on every map spaced apart, their position in each area is just random. If you don't see one in nearby rooms, it is out in the hall nearby. The music room, chemistry room, and library usually have gens in them or nearby.

If a gen is not in the courtyard it is in the hall nearby. I don't know of any tells like the metal doors in The Game.

Everytime you play in Midwich, pay close attention to where the gens spawn.

There are usually the most common places to find a gen, though in some cases they don't spawn:

    -The Chem Lab

    -The Music Room

-The Library (1st or 2nd floor)

-Either of the two sets of stairs

The other gens are where you really need to look carefully as they will be sprawled across every room in different locations, the courtyard included.

Once you memorize each location, finding Midwich gens becomes a cakewalk.
