DS at last second before hooked

Is this a bug, poor design or just a rare scenario where I have to crawl away from the hook to give my DS more time? I hit the skill check and it proctors again later as if I didn't use it so I don't think it is a bug.

Bug or visual skill check glitch, normally the game cancels hook animation in such circumstances. It was made to work this way a long while ago, soon after the Big DS Rework.

@MandyTalk please help me understand again please. I accepted what you said in the closed discussion about this but then as killer, this happened to me today. After I pressed R1 to hook, it started but froze. I couldn't drop the survivor or do anything. Cheryl cancelled my hook and got the sabotage instead :(

That must be a bug, you pressed space too early and Cheryl started sabotage right before the hook bar started going up, but nothing to do with decisive

@xX_DeoxRc_Xx the decisive reference was to the original post. My DS didn't keep the killer from hooking me but then when I was killer, a sabo seemed to keep me from hooking. I'm trying to understand priority I guess and in which case. I thought DS would have knocked out the hooking action but they responded no - the hooking action doesn't get cancelled.
