Distortion not working?

Yesterday i have played a few matches with my cousin. During the last one we played against a legion. He had bitter murmur. My cousin had distortion on level 2, so he had 3 tokens. I got sacrificed and watched my cousin play. What made me curious was the fact that after 4 gens been completed my cousin still had 1 token left on distortion. How is this possible? Did distortion block bitter murmur only 2 times?

    It's also possible he was more than 16m away from the generator when it was completed - without seeing actual video footage of the match it's hard to say. I've not had any other reports of Distortion being bugged.
