Now I feel bad

Just had a match as survivor after not playing for a while (I’ve been knocked back down to grey ranks) and checked the killers playtime since it felt tooo easy. I’m on the left, killers on the right. Maybe rank based matchmaking isn’t quite doing the best job?

    "I've been knocked back down to grey ranks" you just explained why he had such low hours. Matchmaking did its job well, it can't detect the hours of all people, it bases people on ranks.

    That's exactly his point. There are people with tons of hours at low ranks (after a long absence or just deranking on purpose to stomp noobs), and a lot of bad players at high ranks. I would add that the idea of a rank-based match-making is not bad, the problem is in the rank system itself. Ranks should tell the player's skill level, and at the moment they mean nothing in DbD. The ranking system should be completely overhauled.

    I mean the guy says "It felt too easy" like it was a surprise when he's like a rank 20 player, expecting to play with people on his level? Also he said "Maybe rank based matchmaking isn’t quite doing the best job?" like it's the matchmaking's fault it can't detect hours. (If it'd have to match hours and ranks, that'd make matchmaking take too long on certain ranks, like imagine having 50 hours and you're in red ranks, how long would that take to get a match? Longer than it is already.)

    Look I'm not gonna complain about the system, since it DID its job on the rank part atleast. I want ranking up to be worth it and rework the emblem system, so "smurfing" is useless. Like give small rewards for playing in a certain rank for like x amount of games in a row. Higher for each rank of course.

    I think the key change the emblem system requires is some kind of dependency on who you play with and against. You shouldn't get depipped so easily after playing on yellow rank against red ranks (which you do right now, because match-making is actually ######### and most of the times ignores the ranks completely), and you should pip less after stomping noobs when you are already at high ranks. It also should be less punishing to lose a game when you are matched with 3 low-rank teammates (since you automatically lose even if you have just 1 potato in your team and the killer uses it against you). Their "skill based" MMR system was supposed to do something like that, but they abandoned it for some reason.
