Thank god no more mediocre killers getting carried by Ruin/Undying.
We all knew that combo was busted and I for one I'm extremely glad people will actually have to use some degree of skill in order to get wins rather than just pick a high mobility killer and get hooks while being on crutches the entire game. I play mostly killer at high ranks and while I do use Undying I refuse to run it along Ruin because it makes the game extremely easy and it basically turns survivors into potatoes. Not to mention some people seem to run the same build for literally every killer (Go check out a certain British guy stream if you don't believe me). Good riddance.

Do bones

Sure if you call completely counterable perks that can be lost in less than 30 seconds unskillful, then sure.
42 -
I just laughed myself silly. You should be careful what you wish for.
8 -
AH yes, an easier time for survivors. Just what this game needed.
41 -
Ooh boy, just wait till DS gets hit.
21 -
Like I have said before, you can at least get rid of ruin + undying relatively easily. Survivor perks (except dead hard) have no counter. Also, if the killer was pushing survivors off of gens, then they were doing great work by "pressuring the gens".
Note: You can kind of mitigate dead hard only if the survivors use it to dodge hits. If they use it to gain distance then you are kind of screwed.
5 -
It's not a big change though, you have to find both totems to cleanse Ruin now and you will have to find both totems to cleanse Ruin after the change. Only difference is that you won't go in a cycle of constantly cleansing Ruin.
3 -
There's a reason I haven't used the combo as killer. I knew something like this was gonna happen and didn't want to get used to it lol
If they mess up Pop+Oppression though....
1 -
Indeed a welcome change. Now the only OP crutches left in the game are Iri Head, good headsets for Spirit and stuff on the Survivors side (namely keys, Object, comms and stacking 2nd chance perks).
2 -
How you counter dh for distance?
1 -
Oh yeah, well you can kind of counter DH when they use it to dodge. Not for when they use it for distance.
2 -
Mediocre killers? I didn't even think about using those perks as rank 1 killer... Sounds like the only ones with this problem are "mediocre" survivors to use your own words, like lmao totems take 14seconds to be cleansed....
Of course a green rank survivor complains cause he doesn't bother learning where totems are(real easy to find even without det hunch perk that was in store last week) and another killer nerf, I can't wait till day game dies cause killers ability to interact is removed from them and survivors get an ability to kill killers xD
3 -
With killers who have M2 attack, you can tap your power and watch survivors dead hard because they think you are about to swing.
1 -
oo boy cant wait for key ds dh unbreakable nerfs survivors get carried for doing nothing even doesnt have a counter
4 -
I never felt particularly oppressed by new ruin/old undying. Especially if the killer was mediocre. Just dedicate to the gen or run bones. I was fine doing either. Small game is always in my load out for dealing with NOED so I usually ran a quick sweep of common totem spawns and knocked out 2-3 totems easily, sometimes 4 before the 2nd gen pops. Only killers good at juggling and pressuring really benefit from that combo imo
1 -
Still nothing to combat DS + Unbreakable. Also, if you go back through the patch notes and the dev tape, there is no mention of keys anywhere.
6 -
When Ruin was first nerfed and turned into a "late" game perk, Survivors just kept saying, "pressure gens."
Ruin/Undying only works if no one cleanses totems or killers do the one thing Survivors told them to do. Pressure Gens.
So with that being said I was completely surprised that Undying was ever released in the first place. The Dev would have to be blind to not to realize everyone would use it to fix Ruin and actually make it a late game perk.
2 -
Makes no difference to solo queue survivor gameplay imo. Instead of blaming ruin + undying we just go back to looking at our teammates doing nothing. Mediocre killer or not, any team losing to ruin + undying probably would've lost regardless.
4 -
keys hasn't been nerfed yet (or maybe they are silent about it so survivors don't spam them for the mid-chapter, even though the already do) That's my biggest problem for the killer side of things.
1 -
I'm waiting. Probably will be waiting for a long time.
10 -
I'm stoked that tokens will carry over. It does neuter ruin undying (which is only powerful part time, and takes 2 perk slots that can be gone in under 2 minutes), but it opens the possibilities for lullaby and devour to actually be useful.
2 -
OP : "I play killer at high ranks and while I do use undying I refuse to run it along Ruin because it makes the game extremely easy and it basically turns survivors into potatoes."
Dumbest statement ever... Undying have actually 0 use beside being comboed with ruin (thats where the change being good for me cause i am more a thanato/pgtw user and devour hope is in 1/3 of the killers i play).
So either youre a liar on undying use, or a liar being a high rank killer, surely option 2 cause saying this combo is a win garanted everytime for you, youre more likely close to 20 than 1 or MM is your best friend.
5 -
So no counter if you're goddamn trapper. Also he goes through your trap because screw you

That's funny

Good think ds unbreakable doesn't carry mediocre survivors amirite
9 -
I was starting to think I was the only one who was seeing the upside. It made the ruin combo slightly less powerful in exchange for making other hex perks good. I see this as an even trade if not a slight buff.
1 -
I can bet that in a month or two after this changes this forum will be full of "why so many spirit and freddy players????????"
3 -
To be honest, it wasn't even that powerful to begin with. You run the perk combo with a steady team and they will still eat you alive. It mostly served its purpose for solo Q plebs.
3 -
Exactly. That combo was good for some slower, M1 Killers to make them competitive, not to carry weak Killers. Now a lot of those Killers will simply gravitate back to the strongest Killers. Unintended consequences are always fun.
6 -
Thank god for no more mediocre survivors being carried by the devs! Oh wait, survivors don't get punished for mistakes, they just use second chance perks.
6 -
I'm actually hoping for it. Since ruin+undying I've been facing less and less Spirits (Freddy's stayed the same since Freddy players are something else) but guess what, survivors asked survivors should be served. And it's exatcly what you've said, since medium to low tier killers won't have the pressure that this combo allowed, those players will be using stronger and reliable killers.
2 -
I just hope survivors wont complain when suddently everyone is using spirit/nurse/freddy and slugging you to death.
2 -
To be honest, sounds like you are SoloQ survivor that loses most runin+undying matches cause either your lack of skill,or teamates skill.
Ruin + Undying was never OP.all it did was help killer defend gens if they pressure gens,so it inst a carry they have to doing well.
5 -
I'm certainly going to stop playing pig and going to 4 man slug with nurse.
3 -
Thank god, even more reasons to leave the game and increase Survivor que times from an average of 8 minutes to 16 minutes.
6 -
How does pop effect oppression other than regressing other gens? I mean is there a extra benefit out of oppression?
0 -
Just pressure better
0 -
Personally, Huntresses lullaby is one of my favorite perks because it can literally stop progression and force a totem hunt. Even more effectively than devour hope because they can't just rush the last gen or 2 if they can't hit skill checks.
If this finally makes lullaby viable, I'm happy to trade.

Then it is powerful. Because this game shouldn't be built around the "steady team" mechanics it's becoming to satisfy some odd desires for survivor-fandom. Now, I love playing survivor a lot but even I got to admit, I intentionally do NOT run meta perks because of how pathetic of a player you have to be to coordinate these perks to erase mistake after mistake.

freddy was the most picked killer before these changes were made. check the stats.
0 -
And the cries for noed to be nerfed, since i think it will replace undying in a lot of builds, and people will still do no totems. The good thing about undying/ruin was that there were nearly no noed users. That will change again.
5 -
What stats? Plus even he was picked 20% of the time it doesnt change that it can go up to 30%. I will certainly stop playing pig and go back to nurse.
0 -
Thank god survivors don´t have to worry about bones anymore. Would have been a shame if they had to focus on something else than gens.
4 -
Ignore the people crying/trying to undermine your post. They're all killer mains, they are all mediocre at best, and they're mad DS/UB wasn't nerfed when Undying was.
Ignore em. Their opinion means nothing.
1 -
Unlike the majority of the people here, I agree. As a killer main I DESPISE old undying. It gives way too much stuff and it was too op. Saying undying wasn't op is like saying that old ebony wasn't op, or that old legion had counterplay in chase. Even if you "do bones" you waste precious time looking and cleansing each totem. It's like old ruin for new players, but with more rng. More rng hurts the game, and with this change it won't be so randomized
1 -
Ya cause survivors don't have crutch perks like DS, UB, BT, DH or anything... At least ruin/Undying has a counter...
2 -
If you can't both do totems and gens then you also are a mediocre survivor at best. So this combo made games even between mediocre killers and survivors.
0 -
You're seriously acting like the game is worse for killers now than it was 1,2,3 years ago?
0 -
You have asked this same question over and over again. I've also answered it. Killer was easier 1 year ago yes, maybe not 2-3 years ago. Ruin nerf was major factor for it. Any small compensations buffs don't really cover it.
1 -
Because it's utter nonsense to suggest killer was easier a year ago, if it truly was why have kill rates continuously been going up?
Just because one perk, ruin, was nerf but then technically buffed again and made even stronger with undying does not suddenly make killer 10 times harder unless you were relying on crutch things such as those.
