Okay.. so I decided to come back after 3 months break..
It was a mistake.. I played 3 matches as killer today, and I decided I had enough
1st game, blight at ormond. The map still big as hell, and I can’t even track survivors with scratch marks. I lose with only 4-5 hooks.
2nd game, clown at badham. Chase a guy that waits at safe pallet. By the time I hooked him, 3 gens popped. One guy DC when he missed DS (I’m not tunnelling btw, I hooked another guy across the map, and see 2 survivors healing him with BBQ, and he was literally hiding in plain sight while I dont see any other survivors). Another guy camped to death at end game. Overall it was a 5 to 6 mins match.
3rd game, clown in saloon. Met toxic bully squad. Showed no sympathy to clown player at all. At the end 2 died 2 escaped because of over altruistic, but I don’t feel good because I kept getting taunted during the match, and it was a draw.
all my opponents are red rank while I’m in green rank and just came back to see how this game is. I don’t even want to win. I just want to have a nice, balanced, non toxic game that is fun for everyone in the match. But apparently fun is not allowed in this game...
i know new patch is coming soon, but.. damn I still don’t feel good.

Welcome back! It's like you never left, am I right?

Ormond isn't that large of a map:
In fact it's like, at the middle in terms of sizes. Also, from my games on there as killer, it's actually a pretty balanced, arguably slightly killer sided, in my honest opinion, due to the unsafety of a lot of the pallets. The issue there stems from Blight being pretty ######### on that map now, because bumping on a lot of the new objects are difficult to bump on.
But yeah, my point being it's not that big of a map. Not at all.

I'm simulating what it will be like when the next patch drops and it just exacerbates all the problems the game has. Massive maps, lack of mobility, yet expected to pressure everything. Lost our best regression tools yet expected to still deal with all the second chance perks.
Wouldn't be the first time, I quit when they reworked old ruin because I knew that it would either force me to play in a sweaty, unfun way or force me to play only top tier killers. Looks like I've got the same dilemma.

In my experience it's the most bullshit map, the fact that tracks just don't show up makes me lose so many chases

Isn't this just you being rusty at the game after not playing for a while, and having the misfortune of fighting survivors who are better than you are?
Lots of killers don't have the problem you have, at least not every game.
I get beatup in my games to, but not all the time. I win some, I lose some.

How were they bullying you? By emoting or? Teabagging during the game? I'm confused.

IMO the hardest maps for killers are: Ormond, Lampkin Lane, Suffocation Pits. In roughly that order.
JD is completely correct, what makes Ormond hard is a combination of factors, but its gen placement is tough because usually there are four gens at all four corners of the map. That's what makes it pretty hard. It's very easy for Survivors to get 3 gens spaced out in a large triangle.
Azarov's Rest right now for instance is a complete BS map for survivors, despite being one of the largest maps. Four gens tend to spawn in one end and pretty close to each other, and lol killer doesn't even need to leave that area. He just chills in that area all game and he wins almost automatically. If the survivors make the mistake of doing the two gens on the other end of the map it's practically an auto-loss no matter which killer is being used.
Shelter Woods is another large map, but it's very hard for survivors because there's little to work with in that map. It's a gigantic dead zone. In the past it used to have one saving grace in that MacMilan maps are very dark. Today the place is lit like a Christmas tree so that's not even the case anymore.

If anything it’s getting worse.

I get that a lot of people don't like Ormond and I completely respect that. As a color blind player, I like Ormond because it's one of the ONLY maps where I can actually see scratch marks against the light colors. Just about every map is so dark and the dark red is nearly impossible for me to see. Also I can actually see hooks on Ormond whereas I can't see hooks easily at all on dark maps because they just blend in with all the other dark stuff. I lose so many wiggle-free survivors because I'm going after the closest hook I can see the outline of but can't see the one right next to me because it's the same color as what's around it. I'm new and need to learn the maps, true, but it's still frustrating.

I haven't played since April. With this damn virus, lord knows I got time to play games. DBD isn't one of them however. I didn't even hop on to unlock the twins. I have enough shards to purchase them for free but I don't even want them.

Running towards you while spamming flashlight, T bag after pallet stun, stay around you at just the right distance and spam flashlight when I down someone, etc
they know clown has no pressure in chase so they can afford to stay around me to taunt me. I know I’m rusty so obviously I can do better, but even winning doesn’t feel good in these scenarios.

Good dont get them that's the only chapter I don't recommend to anyone

Wait #########. Is there no color blind mode in this game?

If there is, I haven't found it.

You and I both took a 3 month break lol. Like you, I was hoping the game would be in better shape.
One thing people have to keep in mind is that the devs move slow as molasses when it comes to balance changes. And when it comes to changes that benefit killers, the devs move even slower.

wrost time ever to come back tbh, i would have waited the mid-chapter patch, the last chapter was disaster and there less people that play especially since the tome ended. i would wait a bit before totally coming tho, killer meta getting nerfed and all and new clown change coming with new ranking and mmr.
Overall the game will change a lot in the coming weeks so better stay away for now

Mate I've played since legion came out and I face the same thing as the author of the article. I'm an xbox green rank and I'm constantly going against red rank pc and ps4 users. I love the game but I'm on the verge of quitting to because of this bs.

Sorry to hear you are not enjoying your time back. On DBD, if you want to play killer, you have to grow some thick skin tbh. I wish people would be kinder to others, but humans will be humans after all.

Time for another 3 months
