Keys are fine-
First off only 2 keys open black locks/hatches. Second you have to actually find the hatch. Is it worth wasting a perk slot for such, nope. The hatch is what 1X1 meter. Using a map means no key. The 2 keys are fairly rare and how many have even one. Hatch Randomly spawns. Sometimes it spawns in the middle open area, sometimes it’s in some random corner. Not exactly easy to find. Killers can close the hatch. Again how many games by % does even 1 survivor open hatch with key? How often does a match start with a keyed survivor? How many keys spawn in chests? Bloodweb...
the outrage over keys is kinda funny. Oh noes one survivor keyed the hatch and got away and ruined my kill sweep, OUTRAGE. Keys are fine get gud.

This guy thinks Ghostface is OP.

Well, you think Ghost Face leans toward being OP, so yeah. I'm not shocked you have this opinion.

With a chest build I can get one like every other game. I also have probably hundreds across all my survivors. There’s an offering to spawn the hatch in the main building or at the killer shack which I have tons of already.
Not to mention free bond on a teammate, or maybe some wall hacks on the killer while you are at it.
The devs already said they are getting nerfed so it’s almost pointless to discuss it.

Keys are a problem because two survivors can escape at three gens done and three survivors can escape at four gens done, ending a match early.
When killers have complained that the first few gens pop too fast, the devs have responded that the first gens are supposed to get done and that the killer gets stronger the fewer gens are left. Giving survivors a means to end the match early just when the killer is getting to the part where they can be a threat and really play the game makes no sense.
One survivor left? Fine. But all five gens should have to be done before the hatch spawns if there are multiple survivors left.

Keys are fine. How many matches do survivors open the hatch with a key? 1 out of 50, 100, 200 matches. I don’t see keys very often in chests or BW certainly don’t see the 2 that can open the hatch. Interesting how no one has really commented on actually finding the hatch.

There are set locations that hatches can spawn.
There are offerings that increases the chances of hatch spawning in certain locations.
Bring Plunderer's. You're almost guaranteed to find at least 1 purple/red key. Whenever I'm doing key/hatch challenges, I bring Plunderer's. Finish the challenge. Then put it away.
How many survivors open hatches with keys? Only BHVR knows.
If you're in a two man+ one person brings key, other brings map. This is the most common setup I see. If I don't bring Franklin's to burn items, survivors almost always escape when the hatch spawns.
The other day I ran Franklin's on Wraith all day. Almost every match had a survivor with a key.
Keys as an aura-reading mechanic is great. Keys as an early easy escape? The worse ######### ever.

The hatch's placement is just RNG. I've had it spawn directly next to me playing survivor and I've had it spawn in places where five minutes later I still hadn't found it. I don't know what anyone is supposed to comment about it. I stumble across it plenty when I play, though often my luck is I find it when I don't have a key and can't find it when I do have a key, but again that's just randomness.
I see keys all the time in chests. I like running Plunderer's to get flashlights for the blinding challenges, and I usually get at least one key in a match when I do that. Sometimes two keys. Meanwhile, one in five matches actually had me find a flashlight.
None of that changes what I said, though. The game is designed so that the real meat of it happens when there are one or two gens left. That is when the killer is able to really apply pressure. Survivors being able to ditch out around the time the match truly starts for the killer is poor design.

I think how many escapes via keyed hatch would very very telling of this nothing burger topic. I bet it’s around 1% probably fraction of a percent. Too many variables including actually locating the hatch. Actually scoring one of the 2 keys and equipping.

Keys are broken, same as the fact moris were. It doesn't matter if you don't see keys every game, still doesn't mean it isn't broken.
Let's show a few things that are broken that you see less often than keys:
- Old Moris
- Iri head Huntress
- Mint Rag Hag
Just because you didn't see every game doesn't mean they weren't OP. Even if they aren't used they still have a massive impact on the game when brought.

Mories were fine too.
Git gud 😂
The problem with both were very simple.
Keys, you and/or your team f'ed up and can't stay up and actually do the objectives or you 3 gen yourselfs.
You still get rewarded for it and being able to go and look for the hatch and escape, yes at least 1 survivor has to be dead but it's undeserved none the less.
Mories, down a survivor and camp the hook or tunnel the person of the hook and instantly mori them.
Like with survivors and key, undeserved kill out of imo bad gameplay.
Also I believe there is an add on for keys to find the hatch right?
So no need for a perk slot used to find it.
I could be wrong tho as I don't use keys
Before you start saying git gud to me, here's a little vid of me playing your favourite killer vs a 4 man swf with 3 keys, a map offering and a hatch offering 😂

I like how he said he needs Key because hes not good enough to finish all Gen.
Then process to say Killer to gitgud...

Technically he’s right. This is the kind of player the game is catered towards hence why moris are dead but keys are left untouched. By the devs standards for the game this person is correct and the rest of you are wrong.

Me @ this post this is genuinely one of the worst takes I've ever seen.
Keys aren't fine. Nerf keys.
2 -
*Just wins because they have an item, not because of any other factor; but just because of the existence of an item in their hand*
"This is fair".
Well I mean okay; can't argue with that logic.

Ghostface is op, bbq is op, keys are fine....... Excuse me what?
Can't tell if this is a bait just by going with what we know so far about you.
2 -
In no reality are keys fine. They are easy to get on bloodwebs too. I try and avoid them and still have nearly two hundred of each on my Dweet.

Franklin’s is part of my main build now because keys are so common. Let’s put this in a way you understand...you think BBQ is OP because its used a lot. Spine Chill is also used a lot. Guess its overpowered by your logic

So far we've established these character traits:
- Thinks Ghostface is OP
- Thinks keys are fine
- Thinks BBQ is OP because it is used frequently
Can't wait to see where the scottymo arc goes next. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Careful there, you're survivor main bias is showing hard.

Äääh, if 3 gens are done and 2 survs are dead, the survs can just easily avoid the killer and search the hatch. There is no option to get rid of the key, everyone can pick it up.
Same with mori. Just don't get hooked and downed again, easy.

Yeah man, if all 4 survivors escape through hatch I should just git gud.

Maybe if you watched monto's streams you'd change your mind on keys. Finding the hatch can be hard in certain maps no denying it but there are so many easy spawns to spot the hatch is it really that hard.

Keys are not fine cause the killer cannot do much against it once it is used, as soon as a survivor opens hatch (Which btw, a survivor can literally use hatch infront of the killer and they cannot do ANYTHING about it), this can also be used to let every single survivor get out or even be the reason survivors die, so yeah Keys need a change

her you go. you are killer, and you see a survivor with a key, two or three with tool boxes. you say damn i best equip franklin's to knock that key right out of their hand. Well survivors have wised up to that, and they drop the key in a specific location that you can't do anything about either because you can't pick it up. now still in the lobby you're prepping for a tooth and nail fight and it goes to the screen for the offerings, and suddenly you see "hatch spawns at the killer shack if there is one" and a mcmillan's map offering which all have a killer shack. so now they know where the key will be, they know where the hatch will be, and it's a race to see how many you can get down. you can pretty much guarentee some of them will have DS/UB but not all will sure but it'll be enough that more than likely one or two are getting out of the game via the hatch without completing their objectives.
You say keys are not OP? well there you go, without working 1-3 survivors can get out easily. Oh sure you know where the hatch will appear as well but you have other survivors to find, you can't just hang around the shack all match long and hope that someone will come grab the key and get out, as they get out immediately, then you close the hatch and get the doors powered as well. so yea it's OP and on my non prestieged ace I ended the blood web at level 50 and i have 15 pink keys and 10 purple keys on him. they are rare? lol that's a laugh! SUCH a LAUGH. I'm not saying mori's needed some work but what was done to them was lazy and unimaginative, as well as done quickly to placate the survivors complaining about them, yet since mori's and keys existed keys were promised many years ago to be worked on but never were while moris were changed not once, but TWICE. this isn't the first time people were looking for mori and key changes at the same time and the devs gave the same lame promise keys will be worked on soon. so honestly my expectation is that keys may be worked on in the future over 2-3 years from now if at all. make a lazy change to the keys, make it so survivors can only get out one at a time with their OWN key. this does not prevent any achievements from being gotten, but as a killer, honestly i'd rather have 4 keys in a lobby than one with a map and/or offering plus tool boxes.

Oy vey... this has been my experience recently. I will play well, and have two survivors sacrificed with only 3 gens done. I continue to patrol gens but notice that no one is doing them, leaving me no choice but to go afk because I know the survivors are looking for the hatch. The last time this happened I waited almost 15 minutes for them to find it.
I've tried finding them in the past, and sometimes I do, but the people who are experienced know how to stay out of sight... so, I'm better off just afking until they leave.

To be fair, there IS something a Killer can do in a 1v1 situation, it's just (very likely) not intended and is in general pretty stupid.
You can block the open hatch prompt by standing in front of the hatch, on the side with the grip on it. This way you can force them to go to an exit gate or they will die to the EGC. Once they move to one of the exit gates you can always keep yourself between them and the hatch (easier on some maps than on others) and when they commit to an exit gate it's possible to either go for a grab, stand right next to them to make them afraid of a grab and with that stall them out till EGC kills them or, if the exit gates are far enough away from the hatch, hit them and get them before they make it back to the hatch (works best with mobility killers).
Now is all of this intended as counterplay? I really doubt it, it's really annoying to do and for the best effect requires you to stand on top of the hatch till you see the last survivor and then close it, thus promoting hatch camping until the last survivor gets bored or does a gen.

Sounds like someone doesn't want keys to go because he can't git gud
