Space Billy not bannable, mixing legendary sets you purchased is.
Here's a clip of Peanits (fair enough it was 9 months ago, but still) saying that Space Billy isn't bannable. Space Billy is not something that happens by accident, and is a deliberate exploit carried out by players.
Meanwhile the other threads regarding bans for mixing legendary sets were closed because it falls under exploits in the EULA and that there's a deliberate way to do it and isn't something that happens on accident.
I think you're much more likely to accidentally stumble upon being able to mix legendary sets in comparison to Space Billy.

Right now, here on the forum, we don't have the information available yet as to whether the cosmetic exploit is bannable - which is why we're closing threads and advising that it "could" be bannable. It's definitely seeming to fall under "at own risk" - the screenshots don't look convincing and until we have clear word we can't say one way or the other. So we're erring on the side of caution and advising players not to do this.
This all started blowing up late in the night for me, completely outside of office hours and my work hours. So until I get word of what's happening and can give more information - then we're closing threads like this and advising players not to abuse this bug/exploit.

We have not issued even a single ban for mixing linked cosmetics to date.
Our stance on exploits has always been to not ban unless it provides an in-game advantage. (The only exception to this are "techs", like the harvester tech or spacebilly, which are adopted by the dev team and officially supported.) Since mixing and matching cosmetics doesn't give you an advantage in-game, we have no intentions to ban for it.
We've reminded our support agents of our stance in hopes to avoid confusion like this in the future.
