Different teams the art team handles skins and the gameplay team balance.

There are many teams working on DbD, and the Design team who work on new content, reworking current content, balance etc are not connected with those that work on cosmetics, so it's two completely different teams and the work of one has nothing to do with the work of the other.
6 -
Different teams, but one certainly seems to be getting more attention.
21 -
It doesn't matter that it's a different team. A separate team working on cosmetics are still resources that could be put into the balance team.
12 -
lol no
People who work on cosmetics (artists/designers/modellers) are going to have an entirely different skillset to gameplay programmers, you can't just assign a game designer/programmer on cosmetics and vice versa.
1 -
You missed the point. I wasn't saying have the cosmetic team work on balance. Instead of hiring people to work on cosmetics they could have spent that money on hiring more people to work on the balance team.
6 -
The Design team is already a decent size and they're all working on many areas, also, I'd say that DbD is probably in it's best state than it's ever been in concerning balance.
1 -
You phrased it as saying the cosmetic team itself was a resource, which is not the case. Yeah the wages are the resource which are being put into these teams, and yes they should probably hire more gameplay programmers.
However based on the money made selling cosmetics, they probably make a higher return on the wages spent on cosmetic artists than gameplay programmers.

I mean...you are not wrong, things DO get better.....incredibly, painfully slowly, but it IS better now than it was you got me there haha.

As a company with a finite amount of resources, Behaviour has to chose where to put those resources. It is very obvious from what the OP is essentially saying is that more effort and resources need to be put into game design and balance, rather than cosmetics. Meaning either hire more people, or replace them with more competent people. It's obvious that more resources are put into the cosmetic team, and it's logical as the cosmetic team makes the company lots of money.
Talking to people like they do not have a modicum of cognizance is a good way to sow even more distrust and toxicity between Behaviour and the community. I say this because even the customer service does this, and this isn't the first time I've seen people responded to in this way.

Right, but there's no reason why they can't shift their priorities by switching people's teams around or by hiring differently.
As an arbitrary example, let's imagine that they have 20% of people who are developers mostly tasked with bug fixes / performance / maintainability / balance. Let's also imagine that they have 50% of people who are developers, artists, and designers mostly tasked with working on new content for upcoming events and DLCs, be it new perks, maps, killer powers, event assets, rift things, etc. Let's say 15% of people are developers and artists working specifically on cosmetics, and 15% of people are everything else - PMs / leaders, social media folks, advertisers, janitors, etc.
Now, I bet cosmetics pay for themselves and they probably aren't introducing any bugs that impact gameplay, so I see no reason to downsize that team. Still, why not change the proportions of the first two teams such that it's 35/35 instead of 20/50, for example, and reduce the DLC release cadence to two or three releases per year instead of four? Less frequent new content should reduce the rate of new bugs added, while assigning more folks to specifically patch up the existing code should result in a better performing and more stable game with a more maintainable code base. If these efforts ultimately end up dramatically improving game health to the point where having so many people on Team A doesn't make sense, they could always dedicate some more folks to work on new DLC and speed the release cycle back up again.
The fact that they're not doing this says to me "We aren't confident in the long term success of the game and would prefer to just squeeze money out of it until the wheels fall off". I wish they would bet on themselves and invest more in the long term health of the game instead.
If the game lives on for several years, investing in game health would probably make them more money in the long run. For example, all players, but especially players with weaker PCs and last-gen consoles, will have a better experience and would be more likely to get into the game, buy DLCs and cosmetics, and even recruit their friends. Console killers would have a playable frame rate, resulting in more of them, and thereby improving survivor queue times. Players would be able to enjoy new DLCs and events from the start instead of holding off on buying DLC and cosmetics due to flubbed launches (hello Twins!). Colorblind players would be able to enjoy the game fully as opposed to struggling to see scratchmarks, the HUD, etc. The community starts interacting with the devs more positively (or at least less negatively, lol...a guy can dream), which helps prevent new would-be players from being pushed away by community toxicity. In the long run, all of those little things adds up and should count for way more than a few extra DLC releases. It's only in the short run that churning out buggy DLC as fast as possible brings in more cash.

Yes and no I agree in terms of health the game is way better in balance it's better than it used to be but not really

@MandyTalk maybe maybe but its strange :D for example hex undying was added 4 or 5 month ago and devs dissatisfied that this hex (survivor can brake it) killer abuse it with hex ruin. And very soon we are see that devs going to change this hex ONLY BECAUSE KILLERS OFTEN USE IT WITH RUIN.I think its very good reason (no) for changes. But when players talk about survivors meta (i not even talk about voice now) for example DS or BT or broken hard dead 1.5-2 years and nothing, antitunnel perks?are u joking?after 15 sec and 1 min survivor can run 50 laps around map :Dits long time not work as antitunnel perk already but devs not wanna listen :D And after this i feel biased relations to players who play killer side because unfortunately devs often listen survivors players if they begin to complain :Dand i think devs must listen both sides or not listen and make that thay prefer:D (sorry for my english i hope u understand my opinion)

they are not game designer programmers, they are artists and graphics design, completely different skill set. unless you think the general programmer would have the graphics design experience to do both? possible but doubtful

You know the number of people on balance team was publicly announced as TWO right?
Out of 600+ employees only TWO WORK ON BALANCE!
2 -
Because they're part of a larger team - the Design Team, and they all work as a team, it's not one or two people making the decisions.

Someone asked the same thing. I explained myself further in the comments.

so? you did not give an acceptable answer. The your point was that they need to hire MORE people. this may not be something that is possible. You also do not know what the sizes of the teams are. my guess is that there is a few people in the graphics design (4-5 people my guess) and then the design team is probably 15? I don't know just a guess on the numbers I could be wrong but i'd say the design team is at minimum already 2 times the cosmetics team because they need more people. You need to step away from the controlling bone and realize you have no control over them. they are at a good point right now, better than they have in the past few years, so yea I think they are good. Just because your wants don't get dealt with the way you want, doesn't mean they aren't working on things. I am honestly tired of hearing people say they know what's better for the game when they may have only 100-200 match experience in a few days when they have 1000s of match data every day and people here think they know more information than the company. I laugh at people like you.
